I just got a new cell phone.  Immediately, I started getting calls from this number shown on missed calls.  I haven't returned the calls since I had only given my new cell number to 2 people and this isn't either of their number, I figured it was a telemarketing call and didn't want to waste my minutes on calling them back.  Since I don't have any outstanding debts that I know about, it can't be that.  Obviously, a scam.  Something should be done to protect people from this type of harassment.

When I called the Focus management that everyone is putting it is, I called the complaint line and asked about it the girl was american said that they showed they were calling my number and put me on a internal do not call list. the number i called is

First who in there right mind is going to pay a bill they have no clue what it is about? YEs they may be a legitimate company but when told the person they are calling no longer has that phone number that I have had this number for a short time and they continue to call is HARRASMENT! I pay my bills you want to collect look for this person else where... I have been in touch with my attorney... GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT

An automated call.

I received a Robo-call from 800-618-2305, saying it was Focus Receivables Management, that the call was concerning debt collection, and that I needed to call 800-897-8296.

I did, and after sitting on hold for about 10 minutes, I got through to a live person who asked me why I was calling. I explained the above and was promptly asked for my name. I declined to give my name. They called me and as a personal policy I never will unless I know both who I am speaking with and what I am speaking to them about.

I asked why the woman I was speaking with needed my name when a debt collection agency should know who they are contacting. I did provide her with my first name. With my first name and the number they had called me on, they should have been able to simply look up the number and see if they were calling to collect a debt for a Matthew <Insert Last Name Here>. When I asked her why she couldn't do that, I asked why and she spun off some line about how it was a separate company and she didn't have that information. That immediately says B.S. to me.

If a collections agency can't tell me what my name is without me giving it to them, or even confirm that the debt they are trying to collect is for someone with the first name Matthew who is supposed to be at my phone number, that just seems horribly wrong to me.

I asked to have my number removed from whatever list they had it on. The woman said she couldn't do that because they don't have a list. I replied by asking how she new how to call me then. She said that the calls are made by an automated system, not her. I don't know if the assumption is that everyone they call is stupid, but there are one of two options here. Either they have a list (in which case someone somewhere could remove my number from it), or they are blind calling random numbers hoping to stumble across someone they can collect a debt from.

I am quite methodical with my bookkeeping, making sure I don't get myself into a situation where a collections company would have a reason to be calling me. I even checked my credit reports prior to calling the number to make sure something hadn't popped up on there without me realizing it.

I have never had to deal with a collections agency before, thankfully, but if this is viewed as legitimate procedure in the eyes of the law, then I think it needs to change and I have sympathy for those who have to deal with this.

I have put all their numbers on my block list. They say their from Focus Receivable, who they're collecting for I don't know. I get these calls ALL day long several times a day. Since they refuse to tell me what the account is then they can just for get anything coming from me. As far as I know it could be just a scam to get your information so then you end up with identity theft.

I got calls from them every day recently. Never answered them. I also received a mail from 'Focus Receivables Management' claiming that I owe Comcast 120$ because of some unreturned equipment charges. Sounds like scam.

Yes I have been getting calls fom this number too.  Let's just say that anyone who calls you from an unknown number is probably not legit.  Also, if the "Collector" cannot identify himself or if you do not receive anything in the mail to validate the dept, then it too is probably not legit.  If the "Collector" is a true "Collector", then they will follow what the FDCPA imposes on Collectors.  If they are in violation, then you can sue them.

I have been receiving calls from 800-897-8296 at least twice or more a day-I have been ignoring the number as unrecognizable, however, I did answer once out of curiosity, no response on the other end-the best thing to do is not answer this number at all-obviously they have nothing better to do than to harass people-I am going to let my phone carrier know about this.

I received a call from 800 897-7296 for a David that used to work for my company.  I told them that he has not worked here for 3 years.  Hopefully this will stop.  Woman did not state the name of the company or what it was about.

After much searching, I located the telephone number of this Mr. Fox everyone is complaining about.  I suggest you call him, too, because I think Mr. Fox would especially like to speak with you.  The phone number is: (202) 633-2614.  It's actually legit, but I think Mr. Fox may be away until the first of next month.

many blatant direct violations of federal debt collections law for this company that
they could very easily be busted regarding.

Now I received several calls from these bozos as well but not for myself but instead asking
for a company whom I've never heard of before calling my personal cell phone.

I have a blocker so not a major issue but if they can't take a hint and delete my number
as ordered, maybe might be wise to change my number.

These people call me everyday....I do not owe anyone any money...tried to call back...never get anywhere.  Everywhere on the internet states that this is a bogus company and very unethical.  I just want them to stop calling.....If I owe money mail me something!!!!
