F*** these a**holes.  Every single person who gets directed to this website should be reporting these calls.  I already submitted 2 complaints to donotcall.gov website.  I warned that if they continue calling me, I will continue to file legal action.  My next steps are to submit complaints to the BBB.

I received a call on my cell phone that said I owed $37. to a music company.  I told them I did not and tried to get details about their company.  The person sounded like they were from India and I could not get the details I wanted so I hung up.  I decided to call back and a man who answered the call identified himself as Claude Baxter of Takhar Group and all he was interested in was getting my number.  I hung up and went on line and guess what, found a lot of interesting comments.  I am reporting this to our local police who track scams.

Got called twice from this number.  Both times a message was left. The first time the message was so garbled i ignored the call completely.  Second time message was still garbled, but i could make out that it was a female voice, american accent, heard that i needed to return the call at said phone number "right away".  Since i could not tell who had left it i did not return call.

Just called these clowns back and got "Eric Woods" and told him I called Columbia House with the bogus acct. # he gave me yesterday and that they had no record of me owing money, said if he wanted to go report it to the credit companies he could go ahead (because I darn well know he won't) told him "Good luck with his scam" and that I'd reported his company to the BBB.  He was understandably upset and I told him that if he wanted to scam people for a living he should be ready to accept the consequences.  He then hung up on me.  F**ker.

I am getting message machine recordings from 800-898-4426, saying it's imperative to call back; the static/call quality is so bad that their identification at the beginning of the call cannot be understood.  I have in the past told this 800 number to stop calling here, as the person they are looking for does not have this number.

My husband keeps getting a call from 800-898-4426. I looked that number up and saw that it was a collection agency. I called the number back and they said that a representative would be with me. The lady talking sounded as if she were from India. I wanted on the line and they said that I had to be transfered to someone elses line and their voice mail was full so to call back.

I called from the work phone but also decided to Google once I stayed on hold for a long time and then went to an inbox that was mysteriously FULL, and when it transfered to an attendant, no attendant was available.

Funny thing - this number is relatively new so I am guessing I made a purchase recently and they siphoned off the number.

I received a phone call from the above number saying i have a collections for $80.34 for columbia house that was ordered back in 2004. I tried calling the number back and it goes no where. I wanted to request a verification of debt to make sure this is legit.

All of the people i spoke with could barely speak english. It was nearly impossible to understand. I never purchased anything from columbia house in 2004 or for that matter NEVER have i ordered in the past 10 years.

I told him that he didnot live here and asked what they wanted and also told him that my grandson was only 17 and he gave me the above number to have his mother call. She did and when she asked for the man, they told her that there was no one there by that name. The woman that answered then told her that it was about an unpaid bill and then asked her for her bank account number, which she refused to give them. She also told them that she was at work and couldnot talk to her and then told them AGAIN that she was NOT going to give them any information. This is not right at all and something should be done about this so that they cannot do this to another person.

With so much fraud in the U.S. none of us should trust a (800) 898-4426 call. The static and noise are apparently deliberate. The voice that left a message sounded American/female/adult and the only intelligible part; the return number. I spent 10 minutes on this item so others won't have too.

We got the same garbled message on our answering machine...my husband called them and they wanted our phone #, being retired law inforcement he told them they had left the message and asked what they were calling for...he was transferred to several people none that would answer even the simplist question.  I called when I came home and waited for them to pick up..Again I asked what business they were in and why would they be calling someone...When they asked for my phone # I told them that I was very uneasy about giving our information to people who called and wanted me to call back and would not answer any of my questions.  They hung up on me

These jerks have been calling me at all hours and the same as the rest, can't understand a word they are saying! Annoying as all hell...

i too got call re my minor granddaughter---also re bmg---i was told they are a new york corp----i was able to speak to one person that could even speak something that sounded like english-sd his name was "mac owen". their fdcpa violations were too numerous to mention---there has never been an initial ltr sent---they threatened continued calls even when i informed them that the party was a minor---the fdcpa does not define harassment---the definition of harassment is determined by the "debtor"--once the agency has been notified you consider their actions harassment they must cease---be advised that by doing so you may force them to seek legal recourse

A guy paused and asked for a moment and said in a strong middle Eastern accent "I need to talk with Gail Cook" and insisted that he speak with her. I would not identify myself nor give him any information. I did ask him what country he was calling from. He hesitated and said "New York". After refusing to give him any info even to confirm who I am, he said that he would get his supervisor. I said "Don't bother and take my number off your scam list."
Then we typed the phone number into the google browser and low and behold we got this!

Takhar group of companies. comes up as an 800# but wants you to call back an 866 #  Same thing with me, they wanted my phone # and I told them no that i thought it was a scam.  the guy got irate with me and couldn't even tell me what it was in regards to.  I as others searched and found this site.

Called my cell phone and left message. The signal was not too good, but I understood his name to be Dan with (I could not make out).  Dan's English was not too good and I could not understand what he wanted except a return call.

They have been calling my home every day all day long. I don't owe any money for anything. Said it was urgent that I call them back immediately. I called and got voicemail. Told me to check them out on the website. I hope they can't get anything by me calling them back? Can they charge me something thay will show up on my phone bill from my calling the number they told me to? As@wipes!!!

I got a couple of calls like this as well.  After a while  I gave them my credit card number as  46-3825-96877353.  which if you look at a phone dial spells go **** yourself.

I received a call on my cell last week and the number came up on my ID as "333".  The guy asked for my Wife who has a different #, I asked who he was and he hung up.  Today I got another call this time the ID came up as "000-000-0000", again asking for my wife. I said she was not available and asked for his name (Jason) then he gave me this number  866-539-8804.  I asked him what company he was with and he said it was Takhar.

If they are harassing you and you do not have any debts send them a Cease & Desist.  Make sure you reference 15 USC 1992 Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

If they do not C&D at that point, regardless of which telephone number they use, they are breaking the law.

This type of collection agency will use multiple numbers to try and outwit debtors.  If you don't owe, send them the C&D and get them off your case.  Make sure you inform them to contact the debt originator too.  Otherwise, the debt originator will continue publishing your number as a potential reference.

They call me every 3 days but never leave a message. I googled it and it brought me to here! Nice Scam!!!

Just received a call from 800-898-4426.  Called back and someone answered.  He sounded middle eastern.  Told him I was going to report him to my local congress representative and police.  Sounds very fishy!

Received a call today from caller ID 800-898-4426 with a fragmented msg that "..security has been breached. call back immediately to 800-898-4426". Caller ID showed "Toll Free Call, 9/3 9:09am". Message was almost totally unintelligible.  Based on THIS SITE, did NOT CALL BACK.

I keep getting calls on my cell phone from this same number, it's the same garbled message that you can't understand other than the words like "urgent". The phone number is clearly dicernable on the message. I think the garbled nature of the message is deliberate. They want you to call them back!

So, I called back from a buisness line (not my cell). It seems from the comments above they only have cell phone numbers. A man with a heavy arabic accent answered my call after a automated voice told me to "please hold  and the next available agent will answer your call". Sounds legit! right? I asked the man what kind of company I was calling? and asked to know what I was being called for? (multiple times). He emediately asked for my phone number. I told him I would not give it to him. I asked again who they are and what kind of company they are running? He said that he could not give me that information unless I gave him my number. He would only say that they are a "diversified financial institution" and then emediately followed up with "if you don't give me your phone number, I can't help you and you WILL continue to recieve phone calls...Sir, what is your phone number?" I repeated that I would not give him that personal information. I asked him what does your company do? In answer to my question he asked for my phone number again and repeated again what he said above but used the phrase..."you WILL continue to recieve phone calls" more as a leverage device on me in an attempt to try and pressure me to give him my phone number. I told him "no thanks" and hung up.

DO NOT GIVE ANY INFROMATION TO THESE PEOPLE!

It is a scam! If they really are a legitimate collection agency or a "diversified financial institution" they could access your information via an account number or social security number or something, which he never asked for or even offered me the option as a means of pulling up any information. He only wanted my phone number. They should at least be able or willing tell you what it is that they are doing and/or who they represent in collectiong a debt.

My opinion: From my phone call to them I do not trust them, they are not a legitimate honorable company. If he really was interested in helping me he would have done more to ensure me that that they are a legitimate opperation and would not have been so evasive and vague and unwilling to give me information I asked for. He had no intent of resolving any concerns.

I am getting calls from this company also (takhar group). They are looking for a person who has been known to use my tel number in the past and whom I have filed a police report against for using my number and even having things billed to my number. I don't know how lagitament the company is (takhar), but part of all this could be people trying to scam companies they are doing business with by using false tel numbers. And people like us have to deal with it. I am turning this in to my investigator. All I'm saying is LOW LIFE A**holes trying to get something for nothing may be causing alot of this instead of Takhar themselves.
