They are still out there! This time in Richmond, VA. The response to an apartment rental on Craigslist was the same as those above except it came from a Maurice Rutter with a generated hotmail email address. No phone number and no email address like the ones listed above.

Dwel Rentals

First and foremost, thank you for your interest in the home. I am available to show the house this week if that fits your schedule. Just to give you a little more information about the home, the water, trash and garbage are paid by us. The security deposit can be paid in 2 installments if money is tight. (I know how that can be).

The house has a fenced in backyard and we do allow pets. The deposit per pet is a one time payment. The house includes a washer and dryer, and we pay for lawn care so the renter does not have to cut the grass. There is NO application fee.

I do require that all applicants and additional renters who will be living in the home complete a creditcheck to ensure their eligibility. I have so many people apply for homes that I have to make sure they are qualified renters before I show the property. This ensures neither of us will be wasting our time.

It is okay if you have bad credit (trust me). We just check to make sure that you don't have several evictions on your record. (We won't rent if you have 3 or more evictions on your record).

I also had to recently stop giving out the exact address of rental properties before I am able to show them because last time I did that the house was vandalized (I will be glad to send you the address right after your reply) I assure you though that this is a very safe neighborhood. I actually lived in this home for 2 years (very cozy).

As soon as you can, please click and go to the secure website link below to complete the credit check: (takes about 30 seconds) Once you complete, I'll call you.

This process turns some people off, so I completely understand if you decide not to complete them. In that case, good luck with your home search. I just want to be honest with you up front about our process, which does a good job of protecting us from ineligible renters and scammers.

If you are truly interested in proceeding, Let me know when this is done and we can then work out the time and date to go see the home. Email me back once you are done. (Make sure to include a valid phone number. I usually call within 6 hours of submitting for your credit check. Then I can forward you the address and we can set up a time to tour the home).

If eligible you will also be sent an email with my office number so we can set up a time to go see the house and discuss any other questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you,

Mary

notice Diana (the only one who apparently had a legit experience with these people) has a link to the credit report website under her post! haha.

Anyways, I just got the message today::

The job is pretty straight forward.Pay is 17.00 an hour You'll be answering phones, scheduling meetings, and running errands. When running errands you'll be provided with the company credit card.

Due to abuse in the past with the company information by employees, we now ask all applicants to verify their self before receiving an application. You can do this  at verifyajob Send me your certificate number when your done.

Let me know how many hours per week you have available to work. Looking forward to hearing back! I only have 2 openings right now
Thanks,
Pam

This post is an absolute scam. Look up the number 800-906-1203 and DO NOT send them your resume. They will reply with a too-good-to-be-true job opening and ask you to "verify" yourself using a website designed to attain all of your personal information including banking routing numbers, ss numbers, and anything else to steal your identity and money. When you try to email them back, the email changes and the domain cannot be found. They are advertising themselves under several names and businesses: Jessica, Pearl, Pam, Direct Solutions, Advanced 2000 Realty, Everblue Training Institute, and some kind of Green Technology business.

I am not stupid enough to fall for something as malicious as this and I hope nobody else falls for it.

These people were all almost scammed too:
http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-906-1203

You're all stupid w***es for trying to do this to people. I would love to punch you in the face.

I also tried to post this on craigslist but they want a lot of info too and I'm just not into it now that I've almost been scammed. So I thought I'd post it here instead.

I actually got scammed. I'm so desperate for a place to live in Ithaca, NY that I filled out the stupid credit report. Now there is a $15 charge on my credit card for a credit report I never received. I obviously never heard back from Karen, and creditreport.com make it impossible to speak to anyone directly, probably because they are not a real website. I don't know what to do.

Barry here again.

I have found several of these listings on Craigs List and a couple things that they all have in common is a very low (but not ridiculously low so as to make it obvious) monthly rent.  The pictures (if any) show a very beautiful place for the price and the amenities seem a little too good for the price. BUT the ONE THING they all have in common is... NO CITY/TOWN listing.  In my case, it's always "Western  Ma", "Western Mass", Western Massachusetts".

One other thing, these people are also advertising "For Rent or Rent to Own Homes".

Everybody... Please BEWARE !!!!

Watch out.  They are still out there. I saw another ad for an apartment in "Western Mass(achusetts)" and replied to find out what town/city.  I got a reply from Marilyn Patterson..... THE EXACT same reply I got from Karen.  WORD FOR WORD.

I am going to "hound" them until they stop.  Maybe little me can't do much but I will report them to Craigslist EVERY chance I can.  Might even be a little fun/challanging.  I even told "them" that I am going to hound them in one of my replies.  GAME ON !!!

I got that same message as you grace when I reply to a Craigslist posting for a rental property as well.  But if you notice when you hit reply the email address changed to karen@advanced2000realty.com. My father is a manager for an  apartment buillding and they dont use those type of credit reports to check for background and evictions so I knew that was a scam, plus she wont give any of the rental addresses nor will she provide non of her contact info like a normal business person would.  I knew right there something was wrong.

So i did some research and aparantly, the scam is intended to get people to sign up for credit reports which has a 10 day free trial period and then there are charges that are put into place after that. This is a scamming recruitment for credit report systems.

I answered the craigslist posting for a place in lynchburg va. I emailed Karen@techgreen.info becuase that's the email address that worked. There were 2 listed, one didn't work, one did. the (919) 810-5303. The first email address i tried for "karen" was karen@tech1reality.com. When i emailed, it came back undelieverable. The one i eventually got a response from was karen@techgreen.com....i never got a 1800 number call back. The (919) 810-5303 number that karen gave me was based in raleigh NC and she is supposed to be in lynchubr. The pics are the same that you describeed in enfield ct...thanks for the heads up!

Well, I guess Karen is an amazing woman and really gets around the country at amazing speeds.  I also saw an ad for an apartment at a reasonable price in Enfield CT.  $635/month for a 2 bedroom house. Pictures showed a nice fireplace in the livingroom with, I believe they are called, french doors to the outside.

I replied to the Craigs List ad and as with all of the above, I got the same speel about them paying some of the costs and how I could get my 5 month free if the 4 previous months were paid on time. Etc.

Having gone thru a bad/expensive divorce a couple years ago and losing my job, I have bad credit.  So I tried to reply to her message and Karen@advanced2000realty was not found and my message bounced back undeliverable.  I then noticed Karen@techgreen.info.  Dot info(.info)???  That made me think.  I Googled techgreen and ended up here.

***** S C A M *****  (employment & apartments?? Wonder what else!!!)  Good thing my computer at work has restrictions that wouldn't let me go to the credit check site.  Obviously, Karen is getting paid an amount for every credit check done.  I did notice that there was one entry that the DID get a job thru these people.  Well, I'm sure it was someone from their little outfit who put that entry in there just to make it look legit and try to "down play" some of the other remarks.  BELIEVE ME... **** IT'S A SCAM IN THE FIRST DEGREE *****   STAY AWAY  *****

FREECREDITREPORT

*** You don't have to send me your credit report.
Once you fill out the report the credit company automatically forwards me your name, email address and whether you have had any outstanding evictions in the past 5 years to determine your renter eligibility. This is the only information I am interested in.  This is a soft credit report so it won't touch your FICO score (which is why we work with them).

This process turns some people off, so I completely understand if you decide not to complete them.  In that case, good luck with your home search.  I just want to be honest with you up front about our process, which does a good job of protecting us from ineligible renters and scammers.  Also, Free Experian Credit Report . com is the safest and most secure website for credit reports in the world, which is good for peace of mind. Grace,
I got a reply from Karen this morning also.
I'm in Alaska, looking for a rental.

The first thing, her email went to my spam box, but that is not unusual, because my banking info goes there the first time, also.

All the reply email had on it was "Karen", so i looked at the header to find the return address, and found greentech.
Never heard of them as a mail hosting company, and did like you, and found this posting.

Thank you for assisting in keeping me safe.

I was looking on Craigslist and noticed an ad for a rental in Alhambra, good price...so of course I emailed.  30 minutes later I received an email from Karen@techgreen.info asking me to click on the link provided and be directed to Experian to get my credit report.  Apparently they send my credit report to them directly...which sounded kinda suspicious.  I'm so glad I googled techgreen.info and saw your posting.  It really does sound like a scam!  Thanks for posting your message =)

Did anyone notice that that credit report website wanted to charge you $84 up front for that 'free' credit report? I responded back to the email letting them know that I already had a copy of my credit report if they would like me to bring it to the interview. They only identified themselves as Direct Solutions and when I went to look them up on the net, there were a couple different companies with that name. There is no way in hell that I am giving such personal sensitive information to a company that I cant identify and I am not paying $84 for a 'free' report either.  Watch out for the ads that also want you to pay $14.99/month for credit monitoring...$9.99/mo for AOL texting.  READ THE SMALL PRINT BEFORE YOU GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF. Chances are..they just want your money.
