It was Thousand Trails campground wanting to book me to attend some event for their members. I don't have a membership anymore so I wasn't invited.

This must be a scam! I have called this number back twicw and each time I call it back they say they are looking for a differnt person. BEWARE: SOMETHING FISHING IS GOING ON HERE!!! I keep telling them to stop calling and they keep calling.

Yeah they called me a couple of times. After a brief internet search I found a ton of info on them including a class action lawsuit against them by some consumers.
They are a company that Capitol One sold "uncollectible/unreachable" accounts. Probably for pennies on the dollar.

Word to the wise: NEVER deal with collection agencies PERIOD. You didn't do business with them. You didn't call them, or buy something from them or sign a deal with them right? So they get nothing from you.

IF you owe someone money and cannot pay them there comes a time when they decide they will never collect, so they will jack up your credit then sell the paper to a collection agency. That means the original creditor has given up-and yes your credit is screwed. If you can pay then do so BUT ONLY PAY THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR and no one else. No matter what you do --- here are some more do's and don'ts:

1) NEVER allow anyone access to your bank account.
2) Never agree to a "future debit" from your account for any debt.
3) Never pay a collection agency-only the original creditor AND ONLY after the terms of your payment agreement are sent to you in writing that indeed the payment you send them will be credited as agreed.

An example of #3 (above) is say you owe ABC Company 5000.00. They sent you an offer in compromise for say, 2500.00 Get that in writing-don't deal with these liars and con artists on the phone. HANG UP.

These credit companies hire criminals to collect from people they consider as "criminals" --- that's you and me, folks and our only crime has been to have lost our jobs or become so ill we could not pay everything because of time missed from work in most cases.

Most people don't set out to burn a creditor, however these companies will do a great job of making you feel like you're going to hell. IGNORE IT. They are paid handsomely for anything they get from you.

Furthermore: Federal Law dictates that a company cannot sue you if they are not in your jurisdiction. So, give it some thought folks. If the collection agency is in Mass. as this one is, are they really going to sue you there? No it's not legal. Are they going to get on a plane and sue you in Pocatello, Idaho? Doubtful.
Don't let these bullies scare you. They are counting on doing so. Don't talk to them. Hang up. Ignore them. Open all their mail and as someone else here said: "Send them a certified 'Cease & Desist' letter" right away! If you are not sure how to do that, do an internet search!

Remember, they can't take your firstborn. They can't burn you at the stake. They can't imprison you. It is their job to scare the bejeebers out of you to make you cough up whatever cash you have to give to them. They are counting on you doing so and will say anything to get at your money and/or your bank account.

I've had them call my neighbors to ask if I'm okay and leave their name and number for me to call back. Of course it's a collection agency, my neighbor will know and I'll be embarrassed. They count on that so they will raise a reaction from me. Believe me, I don't care-my neighbor knows I'm out of work.

They will come and leave a note on your door. Again, more scare tactics.

Don't fall for it. If you ever suspect you are being illegally treated for not being able to pay a bill, contact the Federal Trade Commssion and report them.

Got a call from this number on my cell phone. There was no message left.

This is a debt collection company. Don't answer there calls and if you do, never admit that you acknowledge or accept the debt. Deny deny deny! If you can avoid talking to this company, your debt will enter a zombie state (actual term) and the collection company will stop calling after a month or two.

Have been getting calls from this number and whenever I pick up no one is there.  If it is a collection agency, it has to be for the chick who had this number before me since I keep getting calls from people looking for her so she can pay her bills.  UGH.

Received a call from this number today.  They asked for a guy named Timmy.  I believe he had the cell phone number before me.  I told them there is no one here by that name.  They asked me how I knew him.  I told them I don't know anyone by that name so how would I know them.  She was very rude and asked me how long I've had this number and I said 6 months.  She said oh and hung up.  I wish I could get a different number.  I get tons of different calls from debt collectors because the guy before me apparently couldn't pay anything.

Well Wanda or what ever your name is.  Not every one is a deadbeat, some people fall on hard times and scum like you that work for these collectors are worse then the deadbeats you try to collect from.  You see you are bottom feeder scum, that use fear and lie to people.

So who is worse a person that can't pay their bill due to tough times or a scum sucker bill collector that will lie to a person and say unless you pay I am going to throw you in jail?

They can try to go that route and if you know what to do you can fight them.  Lots of people have fallen onto hard times and scum like this company are making big bucks.  First thing to do is ask for something in the mail, they you now have a way to send them a C&D letter, also include a DV letter and select Arb in that letter.  You can then stop them cold.  Don't know what I am talking about read up on in.  Go to http://www.debtorboards.com

These people call repeatedly, often waking me up, but when I answer, they hang up. Sometimes they leave very threatening voice mails. I am going to download a voicemail voice to text app from my phone co. so I can send it to the FTC. Someone will be going to jail, based on the threats in the voicemail to someone other than myself!! This # is new to me, so I assume it is to prev number's owner.

I also received a call from 800-910-5856 today.  Called them back and they were trying to reach someone else (Unknown person).  They asked a couple of questions and informed me they would delete my number from their records.

This company calls my house 3 times a day and have since September 2011. They never leave a message; just call... It appears that it is Nelson Associates (a debt collection agency) yet I have no outstanding debt....

This company should be investigated. I  have no idea why they would be calling me.

They use a lot of different toll free numbers; but all check out to be Nelson Associates.

They've called my cell phone twice today.  I have NO outstanding debts and even if I did, I don't give out my cell phone number to creditors, so ................  @@    BS is what it actually is.

They called my mom's brand new, less than 3 day old cell phone looking for someone else. I got angry since she's elderly and he basically said that once you're on the list you can't get off. "We have a list of 300-400 people we call a day and you're not on my list." Really? Really? You call so many people you don't know the people you JUST called? Then, "hopefully the next time you answer, the next person will take you off their list as well."

It sounds more like a scam than a collection agency. Between the high volume of calls, invasion of privacy without an ability to get off a list you shouldn't be on (thus costing cellphone minutes - only 450 a month), being unable to know who you called, and being patronized, too? Yeah, I doubt the validity of them working with a real organization. Added to it, they didn't understand why I was pissed off since my mom had given her cellphone number out to like...2 people, me and the person who set up the phone account.

Have called me several times looking for Mary. This time I am reporting them tothe "DO NOT CALL REGISTRY. Wouldn't tell them anything even if i knew who thay were looking for.

On my answering machine - I had a message. A voice said -- the next available operator will be with you - Then it played music for a minute or so
finally a voice picked up and said hello, hello and then hung up.

I have been by this company for the past two weeks I my telephone number will be removed from their data base. But the calls keep on coming. Which part of the English Language don't they understand. Their representatives are very rude and crude.

I got a call from this number looking for someone I don't even know.  I asked them to take me off their call list and asked what company they were calling from.  The rep gave me his name (mr. so-and-so)and told me their company name didn't matter since I was not who they were looking for and therefore it was none of my business.  I reported them to the do not call registry.
