Morning!

So....I get a call yesterday telling me that I had filled out a card at the Pacer and 76ers game here in Indy a couple months ago and that I had won this cruise, taxes, port fees, blah blah blah included along with airfare to get to Florida, which is where we would have ported from. I immediatly called my husband as we JUST got back from Vegas and Cancun and told him about it. He immediatly called me stupid (I know, I have the best husband in the WORLD) and not to be so naive!!! I had not gotten the chance to hit any reviews just yet due to me JUST getting off the phone with them and setting up our "appt" for tomorrow. They sent an email, and have called 2 more times to confirm. SCAM?SCAM?SCAM??????? I really think I am going to go ahead and call them to let them know they are being reported to the attorney general...!! I HAVE HAD IT with the scams, the illegals, the PRESDIDENT (if thats what you wanna call him) everyone is out for themselves these days and Im NOT in it to win it! Im going to start doing the right thing and report these a***oles!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the review!

My story is just a little different from all the others. Sunday I got a call on my cell phone. It was Shelly from Advantage something travel agency, VIP department. She was looking for Claudia. Shelly had Claudia's trip ticket. I told her,(I had answered the call ). I told her that she had the wrong number, no Claudia here. Blocked the number on my phone. Monday I got a call from Rachel? from the same number! How do they do that? I told her in no uncertain terms that this is not Claudia's phone and don't call back again. Well ,what is your phone number? Silly me. I told her. She also wanted to know what my name was. None of your business. Stop calling me. I got another call for Claudia on Tuesday. I was nice as pie and told Amanda to take my; Claudia's number off of the list. She also wanted to know my name. Still ain't telling ya! Tuesday I reported the call to the Federal Do Not Call Bureau. I did not fill out any contest paperwork. I do not give out my cell phone to anyone except my family and a few friends. Everyone else only has my home phone number.

It's a scam.

Travelfan who left a message on 6 March 2009 must work for Southern Journeys -- or whoever they are.

The same phone number has been calling my cell phone weekly during work hours. They identify them as Smart Travel Vacations. Same sales pitch -- that I entered a vacation drawing at the mall and won. Not true. They claim my wife entered me but give the wrong name of my wife.

I remind them to stop calling, tell them I'm reporting them to DoNotCall.gov, and then actually report them. Don't know how else to shut them down.

Caller said I didn't win the contest (whatever i signed up for back in December at the Rockettes, but i was entitled to a three day cruise.  All i have to do is listen to their one hour presentation.  I asked her if she could mail me something--NO.  I asked her to call back in 24 hours and i would look them up on the internet--Sundance Vacations.  HEre i am.  After reading Google returns on Sundance Vacations, I am bowing out.

I filled out a form to win tickets to the 2008 All Star Game. They call almost every day and leave messages telling me I have won something and it's very important I get back to them.  They say a different prize almost every time.  One time it was a trip then the next day it will be $50,000. I hope they stop calling soon.

I went to the presentation, but before I did, I checked Southern Journeys out with the Better Business Bureau. They have an "A" rating, so I went with an open mind to the presentation.

I did not feel pressured in any way.

I chose to purchase the plan they offered and have taken vacations with them.

The accomodations are first rate, and I never have a problem booking a vacation.

I find it amazing that all of you folks crying wolf do not own the plan. You went to a presentation and got a free $300 gift and went home to b***h online because you can't afford to buy the plan. So sad.

And for those of you that think Southern Journeys is a scam, check out the Better Business Burea.

The only complaints they have are these online scam buzzes that are from people that are NOT owners of the plan.

You can't buy it online, and that should be a clue to you. Online travel companies are a scam.

Southern Journeys is a sales office for Travel Advantage Network, and that company has a stellar rating with the Better Business Bureau as well.

So, if you have an invitation to go and listen to the presentation, go ahead and get the free $300 gift. If you buy the plan, that is up to you, but you will still come away with a vacation for which you only pay taxes. And it only costs you 90 minutes of your time.

Then, after all is said and done, don't go bitching online and complaining about a company that you know zilch about.

My 2 cents worth.

If you entered the Sundance Vacations sweepstakes, or any sweepstakes for that matter, with the hopes of winning the grand prize but NOT with the express intent of inviting relentless telemarketing calls bordering on harassment, and you have been the recipient of uninvited or unwelcome telephone calls and are registered on the federal or state Do Not Call lists, you should call the FTC at its toll-free hotline at: 1-888-382-1222

I address the issue of vacation clubs boasting about their membership in the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

The BBB is totally supported by business organizations that subscribe to their service such as the consumers’ contribute absolutely nothing to the BBB. Consequently, when a dispute arises the BBB has the choice of supporting the consumer, or biting the hand that feeds them by opposing the business organizations that are the life-blood of their very existence!  The BBB is one of the biggest fallacies’ in America. They have no enforcement powers what-so-ever; they are nothing more than a paper tiger totally supported by the business world to offer the unwary consumer a false sense of security.

We signed up for a free cruise recently at the Dallas Home and Garden show if we'd sit thru a one hour presentation the following week.  We went to the presentation .. sat through their speil, and said "No.. we did not wish to purchase a vacation plan"  Well, we received our certificate for the FREE" cruise after the presentation, but when we went home and got on-line to book our cruise, we found out it was far from free!!.. deposit plus taxes and fees for this so-called FREE cruise was going to cost us almost $850.. This is a rip-off folks.. don't fall for the "free" anything.. guess we should have known better.

My call came from 800-291-0500. Same song & dance. You signed up at the mall for our 50,000 sweepstakes (actually, I had registred to win a playhouse for my daughter). We haven't drawn for the grand prize yet, but you have been selected for a 4 day/3 night cruise to the bahamas. How stupid do these people think I am???? I was very "quiet" while she talked. Finally, she said, I am detecting some hesitation from you. Do you have doubts about what I am saying? Uh..... yes, I do! Long story short, I told her I would research their company and then make my decision of whether to come in or not. Guess what my decision will be???? Oh and by the way she gave us intil Saturday to get the additional "free" airfare since we live outside their area code. How generous of them! LOL!

I received a call from these ppl because I had filled out something for a car at October fest cincinnati, so we went down to the appt. we had to sit through an hr long seminar and they tried to sell us all kind of vacation packages and timeshare stuff. We simply declined everything and left there with our cruise vouchers and airfair for the bahamas. What I was supposed to next was pay the 100.00 to confirm and get the information to go online and plan my trip as there were a couple diff. locations we could go and that 100.00 wouldve went towards what else we were going to have to pay wich would just have been port tax wich was about 285.00 each so we were thinking we were getting a pretty good deal for about 600.00 we got 4 days 3 nights all meals and drinks included. Oh we wouldve also had to provide our own transpertation from the airport to the boat dock. We never had the 100.00 we needed in time allowed to come up with it wich was 30 days so we didnt get to go so I cant tell you how it wouldve turned out but its seemed on the up and up you just have to be willing to go listen to their crap for an hr and you leave with what you were promised, so I hope they will call me again since its probably the only way we ever be able to afford to go ob cruise. Also our cabin wouldve been like the cheapest one with a queen bed in it but we didnt care as we didnt plan on being cooped up in there anyways however it did give you option to upgrade

Just got a call at my work number for a entry for a flyers game sweepstakes.  They told me that I hadn't won and went on about offering a cruise package - I tried cutting her off (I'm busy) and I told her that I wasn't interested and No thank you.  I hung up.  I was nice- and she called back a second later- I picked up the phone and reiterated "no thanks" she then became irate and said that I should just listen to her because I didn't understand what I was saying no to- I told her that her management should change their call script, that I was 7 months pregnant and wasn't going anywhere anytime soon (therefore a waste of her time)and that I was pretty sure my phone number was on the do not call list.  She told me that even if I was on the DNC it wouldn't matter and that I'd given up those rights when I signed up for the sweepstakes.  Either way she was RUDE ..and nothing like getting a client by ending the call with "whatever" and a sigh like the teenager she probably is.  If I get a call from them again I'll be calling anyone I can to get them to stop.

Two calls have been left on my machine from this number. The first said, "Gregg we have "great news" about a vacation won at a local mall"... No Gregg lives here and We've never been to that mall.  The second message... same spiel, but they did not address the call to any name.   After reading the other posts on this site I did a little further digging and found an interesting article about Sundance Travel (aka Smart Trave) at this web address:

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1896 ... ons.html?cat=46

Yup.. it's a scam to get you to buy a pricy vacation packages... if you can get through the first high pressure sales pitch you get your coupon for the free vacation only to be put up in a shoddy motel and then there's more pressure to buy a time share.  Read the article, it's interesting.  If you're brave and adventurous... you might do as the author did, but I won't be answering this call!

They have called me every day, about 3 times a day for the last 3 weeks. They have a few different numbers they call from and always say how I won a cruise and can get free plane tickets too. They got my information from the No Doubt concerts I went to. I'm going to just tell them I'm underage, that should help - I hope!

I filled out an entry form at a Cincinnati Reds game on 6/19 because a very nice girl (who seemed legit to me) begged me to and told me I was entering to win tickets to ANY major league baseball game of my choice within the rest of the season.
I got the first call a week ago and she left a message saying she had "very exciting news she needed to tell me about" and that I should call back asap.  Just got a call again.  I guess I took the bait and fell in the trap.
