Are you telemarketing for donations, introducing yourself as the Canadian Police Association, in conjunction with the school boards across Canada to raise money promote awareness of online pedophiles, pedophiles in the communities, and bullying in schools?

Please, may I have this unwanted Telemarketer taken off my phone. I thought that being on a CRTC no-call list would have stopped these calls.

Soliciting for Calgary Police Charity Hockey Game... they have called me 13 times in last 2 days, answered finally because we have set up Call Blocking and was instructed by Telus to answer calls so system can record their number.  Asked the caller to be removed and was passed to the supervisor, who asked if it was ok to remove me for the rest of the year.  I said to remove me FOREVER...  We'll see it it works or not...

please put me on DND list so i dont receive calls from this number.

Called, I refused the call on my cell, then got a TEXT message telling me to check my calls. Really?!?!?!?! Some of us, to keep our cell cost down, PAY per text. THANKS ASHATS!!! That cost me $0.15 ALL my contacts know to call and leave VM, not freaking text me to get a hold of me.

Some further comments regarding nuisance calls from 1-800-917-4194  ?  Xentel (Calgary).
Check out page 55 of the General Information Guide at the front of your SaskTel phone book.
SaskTel offers a Selective Call Reject procedure which it claims will prevent such calls from getting through to your phone. To activate this DoNotCall feature, you are instructed to dial *60 and enter up to 12 telephone numbers onto your personal rejection list. This has nothing to do with the DoNotCall option offered by the CRTC ? and it bypasses the DoNotCall request you can place directly with the offending company (and which they can well ignore). But now, when the Xentel operative calls your number, he/she will hear the following message: "The customer you have dialed has chosen not to accept this call." Your phone will not ring, and the jerk at Xentel will hear either just a dial tone or a very fast busy signal.
Has anybody tried this??

I live on Montreal Avenue South in the Meadowgreen area of Saskatoon. You can reach me at ht.smart@sasktel.net  My landline phone # is 477-5988 ? but this is the line these (and other) annoying calls come in on ? so I rarely answer it.
Today is Wednesday August 24th ? I got 5 calls from Xentel?1:41 pm? 3:03 pm? 5:30 pm?5:49 pm  and 7:37 pm. Since then, I've done some internet surfing

This outfit apparently believes that its operations are regulated only by the Personal Information and Protection of Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)(Canada) and the Personal INformation Protection Act (PIPA)(Alberta). They need to wake up to the fact that there are stringent rules about telemarketing enforceable by the CRTC and SaskTel ? see SaskTel's News release #56 that came with you latest phone bill.

I also live in Saskatoon and get 2 calls every day from this number.  I never answer but they keep calling.  If you find how to make it stop, please let us all know!

Out of curiosity, I searched "Xentel" on Yahoo.
They have a Web-page advertising the company as "North America's leader in profile enhancement for community-based organizations" and displaying the logos of the Canadian Marketing Association and the Direct Marketing Association. Their principal corporate office is in the USA. Their major Canadian offices are in Concord, Ontario and Calgary, Alberta.
In Western Canada, they have subsidiary offices in Winnipeg, Regina, and Vancouver
Don't be fooled ? This is NOT a not-for-profit organization. They are in this game to make money for themselves.
If you click on the "Contact Us" tab on their home page, you will find a "Do Not Call" option ? Go For It, Everybody !!!

I live in Saskatoon, Canada and have name/number call display on my phone.
Today is August 23, 2011 ? since August 1st, I have received over 30 calls from 1-800-917-4194 ? that's approaching 2 calls per day ? anywhere from 7:45 AM to 8:30 PM , including Sunday mornings !!
I note that some of the above comments refer to a company identified as Xentel.
Do these calls come from a telephone call-center??
If these calls come from a Canadian source, then I'm sure that there must be some government agency in Ottawa with the power to investigate ? RCMP ??  Industry Canada ??
Who has the authority to investigate telemarketers ??

Sometimes telemarketers send out mass calls just to see who picks up the phone...that way...they know if someone is home so that they can give the lists of people that are home to their employees to get better results! Scandelous ...I know..

Had a call today.  Said it was the "Police & Firefighters Union".  Didn't wait to hear more.  I guess they were after money.

this number called me twice the first time i missed the call then the next day they called again but when i answered they just hung up

These telemarketers may also be calling to see if anyone is home so the address can be targeted for more than harassing calls. The phone number may have been posted in a classified ad, supermarket bulletin board or another publicly accessible place. These calls can be eliminated using Call Screen feature or Call Blocking, available from the telco provider.

I saw this number on my phone, but I wasn't home at the time, so I didn't answer it. No message was left.
