I received a call from "Rural Metro", 1-800-917-7244.  Definitely a scam.  I just received my ambulance use bill (from Jan 4, 2014) and provided my insurance info and returned to them.

Took a ride in the ambulance a month ago, then had set up a payment plan with the hospital, ambulance fee included, this number calls me every morning at 830 am on the dot, and they sent me a bill that said my bill went into collections. I'm thinking why would the ambulance company forgo giving me a chance to pay off the bill initially rather than send it straight to collections? Right.  I go back to hospital and tell me that this company most likely reverse phished your information from their logs and information exchange to the actual medical billing department.  The hospital informed me that my visit an d the ambulance ride was included in my payment and the ONLY other bill I was supposed to get was the doctors bill. I call these f@ckers back. They tell me refusal to pay will end up in court ordered b***s***. I call them liars, they get rude. I finally drop some real legal s*** on these guys about how I already reported them, and am going to be out in ohio next week on business and would drop by to personally kick this mofo with my lawyer. They hang up and call me with a different a***ole the next day.  These people are fakes don't send them any money, they try to charge me $1400 for something that happened a month ago, full payment, no option of payment plan. Not f@cking happening.  Rural metro is a scam.

I kept getting this same call. I called back to ask about it and they were looking for someone else. Turns out they had the wrong phone number.
Just call them back and get it taken care of.

I have been getting calls from 18009177244 for the past two weeks but I don't answer because the number is unknown to me. They never leave a message and I'm getting tired of them calling me at all hours of the day. They call as early as 6:30h in the morning and as late as 8:00h in the evening. After googling this number I read that it SUPPOSEDLY has to do with ambulance services. I have used an ambulance several weeks ago and received a bill for it. Only the info on the bill (phone #,etc.) was used and insurance took care of it. I find it very suspicious that nobody will leave a message when somebody is obviously trying to desperately get a hold of me. Especially after the bill has been payed already. It must be a SCAM. I will block their number!!!!!!  For two weeks straight ! Really !?

Called them, told them my basic info and who to call for my insurance and it wasn't good enough. They wanted all my information and I told them no, contact my lawyer.

They stopped calling for about a week, and now they call 2 or 3 times all morning. Seriously going to report them to someone......

Keep getting calls from them about supposedly "not having the right insurance information." They told me my information was wrong, but I already contact my insurance company and they said everything was fine. sounds like a scam to me.

I was in a car accident, and did use the ambulance, but I already reported the bill to my insurance and lawyer, both of which took care of it. Yet this company still calls non-stop like i have money for payment now..... its ridiculous!

So I contacted them, told them to quit calling me because they need to contact my lawyer about anything regarding my accident. if they want information from me, they need to contact them. If they want money, contact my insurance company.

Their reply..... "We can't contact lawyers due to policy." Seriously? It's gotta be a scam, people looking for a quick buck off people that needed an ambulance.....

Never been in your ambulance and don't owe you money!! STOP CALLING MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

I have gotten 2 calls from this number today.I will not take the call if it is unknown  to me..

They are calling for my husbands exwife. and when I explain I have no idea where she is or anything. And they keep calling. They cant get their stuff straight.
P.s. my husband hasnt been with his exwife for 3 years.

The problem with these people is they called literally a week after I had the ambulance ride, I told them it was the place where I fell would be handling the insurance claim, but when I first called she wanted all my info up front and I told her look, I don't know you, you have a personal number, if you don't tell me who you are and why you are calling I will turn you over to the state! Insurance is paying this and I will not pay them until the insurance is taken care of. Period.

I have been receiving calls from 800-917-7244 but I do not answer. They won't leave a message so I can't identify who it is. I am on the no call list. Other people comment that it is R/M ambulance but I owe them nothing so I think it is a scam.

2012.05.17:  I received a bill in the mail today from R/M Amb for $931.75.  I called the 800-917-7244 and spoke a lady who immediately wanted my birthday but would not provide me a copy of the invoice (number shown on my "bill").  She would have gladly accepted a payment but refused to provide me a copy of the invoice for which they sent me a bill.  The lady claimed it was an error.  Imagine receiving service from an agency who can't get the right address?  Maybe you'll get the wrong IV fluid or wrong defib setting as well or maybe they'll take to the vet rather then the hospital.

I don't think someone is posing as R/M Ambu, I think they are trying to scam money from unknowing people who get their bills and pay them, trusting those who send them.

I am a rural county sheriff and I see this type of stuff from others, doesn't happen to me, until today.  Shame on you Rural Metro.  Guessing at a customer's info and hoping to get payment.  Makes me wonder how many others you've pinched in this phishing mission.

I have been called more than a dozen times now by this number 8009177244. They are a calling a unused phone number. Sooo I forwared there calls to Jesus...no kidding. There is a pre-recorded message telling people how much Jesus loves them. So I figured they could uses some love.

Gus, this is likely not the company that you owe for the ambulance bill.  If you owe a bill, call the company that you dealt with.  Don't give these people any personal information as it is likely a scam.

For anyone who actually does owe a bill, be aware that this is likely NOT the actual company that you owe, but rather a scam to gather personal information.  They call people who have never used their services.   If you feel that you do owe a bill, call the company that you dealt with in the first place.  It is likely these people will try to ask personal information, such as SS#, date of birth, and such- DO NOT GIVE IT !!   Also, anytime you answer the phone and hear a recorded message, most likely the call is not legitimate.  File a complaint with the federal trade commission, and with the BBB.

So I have this unpaid ambulance bill.  The thing is these people call my cell and hang up as soon as I answer, every time.  There's never anyone there.  If you call back on 800-917-7244 you end up in a call queue that NEVER answers.  Looking up their web site, finding the local billing office, and calling that number get me a competent and friendly operator.  My insurance has paid their share and the rest is mine, so I gave her a credit card.  All very easy except for the weeks of them calling me and hanging up without saying who they are or what they want.  There's something really wrong with their system.

I have record of them calling me three times. The first two I missed the call and the third, they hung up after a recording said "your call is important to us, please stay on the line..." and then a man said hello. As I was saying "your the one that called me", they hung up.

I got a call from them and tried to explain I have never used an ambulance and recently obtained the phone number and they said they'd take my number off their list.
