The recorded message claims to be from Verizon, offering me a $34 credit to my bill of a visit some phishing website.  The recorded message sounded like it was recorded in a kitchen by someone who could barely speak English.  If I was going to try and misrepresent a major corporation, I would at least invest more the 2 minutes in recording the message - but then there's a reason why these type of people are the lowlife scumbags that they are - they lack intelligence along with decency.

I am in PA and got this call yesterday.  It looked strange on my phone with two 1s before the 800 number-118009222345.  I figured it must be a scam.  We seem to be getting more and more of these.  Two days ago we had one about computer security.  We are also on the do not call list :(.

I just confirmed with Verizon that they would never direct you anywhere other than verizonwireless.com, not that we all didn't already know that. Apparently they are aware of it already.

I also found a link to a news story from Columbia, SC, which I found interesting because I live in Charleston, SC with an 843 area code number. Since Columbia seems kind of random given that Verizon is a nationwide company, I wondered if these scammers are targeting SC customers.

Is anyone else from SC (or has a SC cell phone number), or are they targeting customers in other states, too?

My husband's cell phone and my phone rang almost simultaneously with the same number. They left messages on both about getting a discount on our Verizon bill (our cell phones are with Verizon). Either they know we're on the same account --> simultaneous calls, or it's a robo-dialer because our numbers are in succession (only the last number is different; mine ends in 3, and his ends in 4). I'm going to guess it's the latter because my phone started ringing about 3 seconds before his.

Besides all this, I know it's a scam because we get a corporate discount already and are thus not eligible for any other discounts.

I'm going to report them to Verizon so that they can hopefully get these guys caught.

A woman with a foreign accent said to log onto www.gift34.com and then log into my Verizon account to receive a $34 credit on my Verizon bill. Obviously a credit to my Verizon bill would be applied through the VERIZON website, not a bogus website.

Gee, my "discount" was only $34.00.  

This happens randomly, but frequently.  Always a recorded message that says I can get $54 off my cell bill.

The call came in on my cell phone and I did not answer it, no message left.  It DID show on my missed calls list, with time called.

The same as all the others but caller ID said 800-922-1235.

Just got a call from them on my cell. No answer.

Just got this call on my tracfone. Didn't answer, as nobody but family has my number.

Received call from this number 01/31/14 @ 11:00 am .. Verizon .. I am not a Verizon subscriber ...

Just received on cell phone -- no message or response.  I tried to call back and said it was not available in my service area.  When looked up line, says tied to 800-222-0400 with AT&T.

Keep recieving calls from this number and I'm on the do not contact list!!!

This is COMPLETELY correct. Do not give them ANY INFORMATION!!!

NEVER sign in at any website other than verizonwireless.com or VZW.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!

Same number called left no message or anything. Called back and said the number was unavailable. I'm even on the do not call list.

Just got a message on my cell about 15 minutes ago. Cracky message. Something about $39.00 and log onto verizon39.com and she said have a nice day.

Got the same message a few minutes ago. Hard to understand but heard wwwverizon39.com

Terrible sounding voicemail. I believe Robin's post 26 Jan 2014, sounded the closest to what was said. Thanks to everyone for telling me what she actually said.

Got a call from a recording saying to call verizon39.com...scammers

Just received call by a very garbled voice saying something about getting $39.00 off my bill bad "we care about you".

getting calls from this number.  800-922-1234.  Can't contact them to stop calling or block number.

It left a message on my phone along the lines of "f*ck you and have a nice day"

Same message here!  Sounded like a machine saying "we care about you, have a nice day!"  Could this be related to the Target hack by chance?  Were any of you affected by that December?

Fool. You were gullible enough to provide them with your password in the first place. AND, you called the number back which only guarantees you'll get more scam calls like this in the future. Or, you just got signed up for some monthly scam subscription by calling it back, or got charged for calling an overseas number.   You are their ideal fool to fall for this garbage.

It's so, so easy to tell that this is fake. If you enter any bogus information, it will act as if you logged in.

Same call.  Went to the website (used my verizon password to get there - no doubt a mistake so I immediately changed it) and they wanted all data including last digits of ss number for $39 off next bill.  Of course I was not quite that gullible.  Called the numer and got the message not reachable from this area.
