People from this number harass me, my sister, and mother constantly trying to reach my son.  They have lied about who they are to get information on where he lives, works, phone number, etc.

I too get calls from this number.  I tried to find out who these people are and am always put into voice mail.  The operator says she cannot divulge who or what this company is or does. The number I get calls from is 800-927-7667 x 2610. Can we say SCAM?

I have received two calls from these people. Not to me directly but they called my ex husband and my ex brother in law. Both I don't barely talk to. Asking for a lot of information about me. If they knew where I lived, how to get ahold of me. Where I worked or if they knew a neighbor. I will be passing this number to my attorney. Anyone wants any of my money, they need to go through him first. But unbelievable what companies try to do now.

Thank you to all who have share their experience on this site and provide a common problem with this company. Thank you for that and for the time it takes to post.

Tracy Hart called asking for a past an employee, I told her he no longer is with the company but she still wants to speak with his manager or co-workers.  She said it business, and it was urgent that she gets a return call and made it sound like she is a customer.  She is not.... She ask for more information on our past employee with only giving minimum information on her part.  She gave us a phone number for the a co-worker or new rep of the area or manager to call her back at 800-927-7667 Ext 7814.  I asked if this was a collection call she said no.... but its the way she said it that I knew she was lying about it.  Please stop calling us, we don't have any information on the past employee.

Company Name she gave was Proforet
Call Type: Business call (She said it was not a personal call)

Thank you

Gavin Daniels called my landlord and was pumping her for information about me she got the name and number from him and delivered the message, I called back and the person who answered the phone never said what the call was about but immediately transferred me to Gavin at ext 3574. He  then tried to pump me for information before he even told me he was a debt collector or even what the debt was. This call was for a student loan from 2005 that the original collectors citi bank never provided me with the proof of debt that I asked them for, they then sold the debt to ecmc whom I also asked for proof from which surprise I never got, then they sold it to some collection agency in Livona , Mi again still no proof, now these people and I have asked again for proof. I will not hold my breath, THIS DEBT IS NOW 9 YEARS OLD , and still no proof it was me or is mine really???????

How is this seriously being allowed to go on without some kind of legal action against this complete stalking/harassment!?!?!?? Exact same MO happened, a neighbor we don't even know left a note in our door saying someone called from that 800 number asking for my husband as an avenue to get to me, FYI my name is apparently Chrissy also which is news to me. This is weird and kinda scary, also I have never even applied for any student loans,,how SERIOUSLY do these people find out your neighbors, family members, names and numbers to track you down but not even get your name close to right or just call you directly!! Someone please tell me theres a way to stop this freaky stalking and a way to take some kind of action against these weirdos!! And how do they pick their lucky targets?

So my best friend got a call from the number indicated above and the caller indicated to her to not let me know he wanted  just that he need you to call. Really these are the same people I try to negotiate with and is asking me for $1500 a month I don't even have $15 to spare. I sent letters indicating what I can pay and no response besides these threatening calls to friends and family being all in my business.

DO NOT ever send a "gratuitous" payment of ANY amount to a debt collector unless you are prepared to start making payments on the debt and pay it off.

EVERY time you make a payment, no matter how small, you re-start the date from which the statute of limitations (the date they have to sue you by) is calculated.  For example, if the statute of limitations in your state is 3 years, and you've gone 2 years without making a payment but then decide to send in a $10 check to get them to stop calling, you just reset the clock for them to sue you so now they have 3 years again, instead of the deadline running out in just 1 more year.  This applies even if the statute of limitations has already passed in most states -- if they can get you to make a payment they can re-instate the right to sue you for the debt even if it had previously expired.

Got a call from a very assertive woman asking for someone I use to know, asking for reference.  I got suspicious and ask what is the reference for, and she said "can not disclose it due to a personal matter".  Left me a number to call back to a company ? P.R.I. ?

Sound like a private investigation or something ?

Let me first express my gratitude to all those that share this site responsibly and provide knowledge to others experiencing a common problem. Thank you for that and for the time it takes to post. Thank you. Reading some of the information contained here has been a great starting place on preparing deal with Diversified Collection Services and similar companies.

I received a call from this number today asking for a family member whose affairs I help with. Obviously a debt collector. I informed the caller that if they would provide me with the name of their company, their mailing address, contact person, and file number, that they would receive a letter granting them permission to speak with me signed by the person they were looking for,

The caller then said that she would not give me their mailing address, gave me an acronym of PRI as the name of their company, and then told me that the reception was going bad so she would expect a call back from my family member.

The debt regards a student loan in default out of Florida. If anyone can suggest a way to succesfully negotiate a terms with these folk, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I didn't read all of the comments, so I'm not sure what is being sent "certified"

If it is a Mail Service where the PO Box is held, such as UPS STORE or Mail Boxes Etc (do they still exist?) then you CAN send certified because the Mail House can sign for it.

You cn also send 2 Day Priority Mail through the USPS.   This will include TRACKING which when delivered, will yield a Date and Time of Delivery.  Next best thing to certified.

You can also request a RETURN RECEIPT mailing for an additional charge.  When the piece reaches it's final destination as far as USPS is concerned, they'll take off the card, fill it in and mail back.

UNFORTUNATELY, the USPS isn't 100% on their return rate and delivery notification, so.....

Send two a day apart if need be.

i had a voicemail message left at my workplace today.  The woman calling identified herself as Kathleen Walker.  The number left was 800-927-7667, ext. 7004.  When I returned the call, the woman wanted to verify my identlty by asking me for some information.  She would not disclose anything else.  I asked again who she was and what PRI stood for.  She said "Performance."  When I seemed to frustrate her, she provided the last four digits of a SSN that was not mine.  She also gave an address that was not mine.  She had other information as well that was not remotely related to me - yet she had my WORK phone number.  She tried to say that someone I knew (not really) gave them the name of my workplace.  BEWARE!

Not a legit company! DO NOT give them your SS #. Don?t give them ANYTHING.

They are just trying to shake people down for money, plain and simple. Does not matter if you have any debt or not. They are using  phone fishing, ?phishing? as the ploy to get you hooked into giving them money.

Thanks for the useful information. We just got a call from the 1-800-927-7667 number, x2128, looking for my husband's son who does not live here. The caller, Valerie Campbell, was extremely rude and pushy, asking incessantly for information without providing any herself --- no company name, reason for the call or reason for me to provide the information. I tried unsuccessfully to learn enough from her about the reason for her call to determine how I was going to handle her questions, with her snapping back at me in a defensive and aggressive tone of voice. I ended up telling her that she was acting very rude, that she was interrupting me on a very busy workday, and that this call was finished. I would like to report this company, or at least this employee, to help put a stop to their practice of making rude and aggressive phone calls. This sort of behavior is unacceptable. Even if there is a legitimate aim to be accomplished by their calling peripheral people, they have no excuse for being rude. Where can this practice be reported?

Based on reading the previous posts, it appears that "DCS" is now using the name "Performant".  Got a call from them as well, saying to have a family member call 800-927-7667.  Said he's been trying to get ahold of him and said something vague about work.  He knew where my family member works, already, so I don't know why he needed to call me...

By the way - to the administrators of this site - THANK YOU!!!  It's really great to be able to find out stuff like this!
