This numer is the retention department of Capital One. Because Capital One does not have representation in all states they will turn a debt over to a third party law office that is licensed in your state. Once that third party "assignee" receives the aleged debt you should receive a dunning letter giving you 30-days to dispute the debt. though it is legal for the debt collection firm to file the suit duringthis 30-day period it is very unlikely. THIS IS NOT FROM THE "LEGAL" DEPARTMENT OF CAPITAL ONE.

If you get a call from this telemarketer, please file a complaint with the FCC and FTC: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints and https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx. If they receive enough complaints, they'll investigate. In addition, they send information on how to file a lawsuit. If enough of us file and win, that should have an impact. What a great revenge, earning money FROM them! Information on their website says the FCC have shut down several of these scams.

Just got a call from this number and it was from a Darnell from Capital One. They called me, my aunt and my grandma. No clue how they got this number but they asked both of them for my social security number. I called the number back and it goes to a voicemail asking for my social security number and/or debt case number. What should I do now? I do have an account with Capital One but I'm currently in a debt settlement program and the account has been closed for months now. I'm scared this person might have a lot of information about me and I don't know what to do. HELP!

Got a Roger Jordan from Capitol One (master card) for Eric Hernandez.  They kept calling my job looking for him.  I dont know anyone by Eric Hernandez.  So Mr. Jordan apologized.  But keeps calling eventhough I have NO account with them and not related to Hernandez.  That's Harrasement.  I WILL NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO THEM.  I DIDNT WANT TO GIVE MY NAME AND HE GOT IT?? MY WORK NUMBER IS AN EXTENTION!!  I WILL CONSULT AN ATTORNEY IF THIS CONTINUES!

If this is a legitimate collection agency, they can not call a third person unless there is no way of getting in touch with the debtor. They can't call more than once a day and it must be between 8 am and 9 pm, your time. They will not ask for your social security number or credit card number because they already  have this information. I received a call that was not for me even though the person they asked for has a phone number w here he can be reached.  My number is not listed so if they can find mine, they can find others. Don't give them any information.

I have been getting calls from this number for a couple of months now.  At one point they were calling everyday sometimes leaving more that one message.  I finally decided to call them last month and the calls stopped for a while and started again.  I spoke with someone and the young lady gave me a list of name of the people and asked me did I know them; I told that I did not know any of the people that she name.  Then she stated she would put me on the do not call list.

They called my personal phone, my work phone, my brother cell phone and sister-in-laws cell phone. The only number I ever gave them was on my application, and that was "My" personal cell phone.

This number was given to me by someone claiming to be from Capital One, asking for someone who didn't even live here nor I have we ever heard of them.  My wife was gone at the time.  Even though the womans name that they were calling for wasn't even close to my wifes name, they still insisted that they talk to her and get her social security number.  I was like Yah right, she's not calling you guys.  The caller then got rude and explained she won't be elaborating anymore and hung up.  I called Capitol One's fraud department and reported it.  They were really apologetic about the incident, they looked up my name just to make sure I didn't have an account, then did a transfer to someone who could remove the phone number.  Took about 12 minutes, but they say the number has been removed.  I went to Capital One's website and clicked on Contact Us, then looked up the fraud departments phone number and called.  Just a reminder to people to NOT give out your social security number when people call you like this.  Only give it out if YOU called their number and you know its legit, and it's the type of company that would need a personal detail like that.  Just for kicks, I asked what the heck the woman did to get put on these collection lists, he told me he can't really talk about it, but what he sees on his screen is "jaw-dropping".  Some people will never learn that you can't spend money that you don't have!

They say this is my daughter's account, and they have called every member of our family. I have recently been a victim of identity theft, and don't know if this is related.

I just received a phone call from Tamika at "Capital one" she asked for my mother in law. The caller ID # said 804-482-6667, however the callback number was a toll free listed below. I asked how she got my number and she said I was listed as a relative on my mother in laws information. I just called my mother law and told her what happened and she informed me that this same number called my wife also and was asking for my mother in law. When I looked online, I found this post, and I am convinced it is probably a SCAM or FRAUD since I know my mother in law would not put me as a relative on her card account. The number that she said to call back was 800-929-80075 extension 2710300.

This is Capital one, they called my number looking for some one else! the message they left said to call this number 800-929-8075! My wife called that number and told them that that person does not live here and not to call here for them anymore!

My husband got a call from this number on his job.  When I called them back, they would not identify themselves, or tell me why he was called at work.  They insisted they could only talk to me if I gave them my husbands social security number.  My husband got a reprimand for personal call at work. When I did an internet search, this number does not exist.   I reported this number, along with 804-775-8640 to the Federal Trade Commission.  It is being investigated now.  Please be aware and do not give information over the telephone to someone you do not know.

They keep calling, I had paid off my capital one account, they keep leaving a message that they want to verify my social securty number. On the message they say that they are capital one

THIS IS FRAUD.  They say they are from Capital One but they are not.  Do not give them any information. I reported them to the real Capital One.

I contacted their fraud department 1-800-239-7054, we received collection notices from someone not in our household. They asked for the last 4 and a number to see if it matched the acct, it did not. They placed a note on the acct to not contact our phone. We shall see if this resolved the problem. Hopefully it may work for you.

I don't have a "Capital One" credit card and these people continue to call. It's now up to(2) times a day; calling for some idiot by the name Rolando.  and I requested for them to removed my cell number from there calling list. After 10 minutes, I'm still on hold - in order for Capital One to remove my number from the list.

these people contacted my siblings - how they got this info I have no idea!! sibs told them to not call again. watchout for these people!

Wow 3 calls in one day. They don't even check their own records do they. They called two days ago and I said I could make a $25 payment but right now that was it. They said that would not be a problem. I made that payment yesterday through their online system and yet I still get calls. I hope the job interview I have tomorrow leads to a job so I can pay this people off and never have to deal with them again.

This is NOT from a legitamate source. They clain they are from "Capital One", I contacted the real capital one and they know nothing about it. When you call the # they leave, they want you to leave your Social Security # and credit card info. Be careful! They have been calling my house daily, on the weekends, at night. I even filed a complaint with the local law enforcement
