It sounds like these repeated calls has some alleged political connection. So for they have yet to leave a message and I refuse to return their call.
The fact is I do not trust any unwanted call. Nor do I trust politicians as a whole and I don't care what party they represent.

I've gone even further by white-listing (i.e., allowing) the specific numbers I will accept calls from.  My life is much less stressful today.

I second Larry's recommendation. The $90 or so is a bargain considering the peace I have enjoyed over several years. A tip I can add is to program it to accept only area codes that you expect incoming calls to come from rather than rejecting groups of area codes you don't want. I don't have that many area codes to program. It makes programming easier.

You're going to let Google know about every call you make and receive? Google will sell your information to the highest bidder. That's how they make their money. (Yes, I block all Google web servers in my firewall.)

Called our mid-fl landline at 10.23a on 6/27/14.  This is a repeat call made about an hour after the last call.  No msg was left, callr id has changed from an hour ago to "800 Service", which it manifestly is not.

If you have an in home fax machine on the same line wait for the number to show up on caller ID and turn the fax machine on and blast it into the callers ear. After a few times they'll stop.

Carol,  you can only dump them by purchasing a call blocker such as the Digitone.  It  can block specific numbers or block an entire area code.  No ring, just piece and quiet.   Unfortunately a good call blocker can cost about $90 but the satisfaction of not getting these calls is immense.

Why do people have to disturb you! Most people know how to pick up a phone to call someone if they need something! Don't call me, I'll call you!

This message came from the Presidential Coalition, which is a political organization.  Political organizations, by statute, are exempt from the law (mainly because politicians made the law!).  Your best bet is to call back, wait for the opportunity to press number 3 on the list, enter your phone number (I mean, they already have it, you know), and they won't call back.

Political Call
I've been getting calls from this number night and day for weeks - several times a day.  They are the Presidential Coalition - a Republican organization, so they claim, that is trying to get donations.  I can't believe ANY national level political organization could be so stupid as to develop themselves as a broad-scale harassment agency in this manner - therefore, I question if this actually came from a Republican or conservative organization at all.  Way too fishy to be a bonafide group.

Jon, for some reason they think you're a Republican. I get all sorts of junk mail and calls from the Republican Party and conservative causes, because in the last primary election, I voted in the Republican primary. In my state, an independent can vote in either party's primary (but not in both at the same election). I've gotten the same response from the Democratic Party after I voted in a Democratic primary.

They both make the tenuous assumption that all Republicans are conservatives and all Democrats are liberals. They forget about that vast bulk of us who are in the middle.

Sometimes I get an 800 call that's a robocall and is legit, generally a notification from the doctor's office or something I signed up for. In that case, I really do want them to leave a message, so I have a saved copy of it, in case I forget what they said. They're always time-sensitive, so I can delete them later.

If it's not legit, I don't want to talk to them. The point of all this is that you never want to answer them anyway.

I set my phone to announce the number, so I don't have to get up to see the callerID.

You forgot the biggest exception: Calls from criminal organizations. Since they don't mind breaking the law, they'll call you even if you are on the DNC list.
