Obviously it's a scam. I do not have nor have I ever had direct tv. But they keep calling.  You can go ahead and give out your info so they can steal your money but don't bash people who are smarter than that.  

This is NOT a scam. It's Directv wanting to update your credit card for payment.

The problem for me is that when this number calls it never says anything. I called it back and they told me it was DTV but I logged into online account to see if what they were asking for was true, and yep.

Same here - if they leave no message I do not give them the courtesy of a return call - I believe it may be a scam.

This is DirecTV.  It's usually an ROBO Dial Recording, which may or may not connect you to a live person.  DirecTV uses this number to call you when there's a problem with your bill.  This could be a canceled or expired credit card, past due balance, or some other BILLING related problem.

If you don't have DirecTV, simply call the number back and ask them not to call you again.  It's likely your number was inputted incorrectly on someone else's account.

*I am not a fan of DirecTV's billing practices.  I'm waiting for the next class action lawsuit to be filed against them.

 We are receiving multiple calls from this number daily on both a cell number as well as land line. Have spoken in person to a couple of "representatives", but usually just ignore it or accept call and remain silent. Will disconnect in less than five seconds. THIS PARTICULAR NUMBER IS, I REPEAT IS A SCAM. Directv has well-published and legitimate customer service numbers. This is not one of them. Calls come in at 8 a.m., 12 noon, and 6 p.m., regular as clockwork.

I don't know who is calling because I do not answer numbers I don't recognize.  If it is that important they speak to me (Direct TV for late bills, etc.) they will leave a message.

This "number" has called my phones numerous times and there is never anybody at the other end and they never leave a message.  I would say it is a scam and needs to be reported.

I called Directv too, just to make sure my account was OK. They confirmed that nobody from their company called me and that it was a scam. They took the info since they plan on following up on it, but two weeks later, it looks like this scammer is still at it. They are calling once a day this week. I'd like them to pay for a part of my phone bill! I was concerned that Directv's database had been hacked and wanted to know what other info they have on me that might have been stolen. It's disturbing to know that they have my phone number, know I have DIrectv, and know I'm on auto-bill, but Directv insists that the scammers send out the same message knowing that eventually they'll hit someone that it applies to, and not that their database info was stolen. They also tell me that scammers will comb Facebook to connect our names to companies that we "liked". Wow, if they put this much energy into doing good things...

I have gotten about 15 calls from this number with nobody on the line.  I wrote to Direct TV a month ago asking for a written answer to my question.

I have not had Direct TV since May of 2010 and interesting enough it appears they are using their data base on old clients to try to market those who used credit cards that are expiring.  In other words, the card I used is about to expire; yet I have not been a customer for over 2 years so they are using the info to try to get me to "come back".

That qualifies as a SCAM in my book.  If I want DirectTV I will call them, but remember the person on the phone is doing their job; may be the only job in town.

This is 100% a SCAM!!!  I just contacted DirectTV and they confirmed these calls do not come from them.  Do not give any information to these people.

These people call and leave thier message every day.
I have told them several times my number is on the do not call list and to stop calling.
They say they are removing my number from thier list and keep calling.
I have never had an account with Direct TV and have never had thier service.
I have filed complaints with the FCC 4 times and nothing happens.
So much for government b***s***!!!!!!!!

Whoever is calling does so as many as three times a day.  I don't answer the phone when I don't recognize the number.  It appears to be a scam.  I've since put a block on this number. :)

We get calls from this number at all hours of the day, no one is there when I answer, it just clicks and hangs up.  When I call the number back we get a woman's voicemail.

This number calls every day. I downloaded an app on my phone that will answer and automatically hang up on them and they still call at least twice a day. They have said they from DirecTV and they actually ask for someone else when they call. My husband and I have both told them several times that they have the wrong number and to remove my number from their system. They still keep calling.

They keep calling my cell. (how they got that number is a mystery) I am on a limited income and its killing my minutes. I dont even have DTV. Im satisfied with my cable co. This is BS. I called DTV and asked for my number to be taken off. The lady said ok but sure enough i still get at least 2 calls a days...

It's DirectTV. I had to replace my credit card and forgot to change it on my billing info. They were calling because my last bill did not go through.

Daily calls that now result in a hangup.

Please it certainly be apreciated if you can cease these unecessary requested amounts, because it's outrageous for debt collectors or acting collectors harasses customeers, especially the customers that do pay.

Metro Pc is another company needs to be included , Payment was made of 50.06 and I was credited for that  with a courtsey text backwith thank you and yet they disconnect me today I needed another payment of 50.02. Now I have no services

Spoke wiyh someone stated my credit card was rejected, my response it couldn't be there's always funds available my bank never declines payment for me. I'm not being properly credit for our account.
They were giving me various amonts stating the checks werem\n't cleared.We have been faithfully making payments since we had the service.

What gives them the right to keep harassing with calls demanding to them once you payd them the next day and stating service will be diconnected equipment being reposse. Acct.62972609.
One time asking for 264.00 , now it's back down to 49.87

The people from the above number of 1-800=942-2788 sounds definitely illegitable to me also.

Yeah, go ahead and call them.  Most probably something wrong with the billing.

This is not a scam.  Repeat for all you paranoid freaks.  This is not a scam.  It's an automated service that Direct TV uses, that's why no message.  The technology can detect whether a person answers or voicemail.  It hangs up on voicemail because in some states it's against the law to try to collect a past due bill without it being a live person the information is being directed to. And that's all it is is a past due bill from Direct TV.  Most probably due to an expired credit card on file.  Just go ahead and call DTV directly or go online and fix your issue.
