No you're mistaken. They are private lenders and they CANNOT garnish your wages without a court order. There has to be a judgment in their favor before they can even think about garnishing. So get your facts straight and not give bad information. Genesis, Everest and these other colleges have a bunch of class action lawsuits filed against them for their questionable practices.

I agree very rude this is supposed to be an educational loan and I'm still in school and they continue to send bills and charge late fees and on an educational loan they have to wait until you graduate or withdrawal completely. Turning them in to the BBB and Attorney General's Office. I didn't realize there were so many complaints maybe a petition will help

Demand a legitimate, physical mailing address in which to mail a cease communication letter. This is your right under the FDCPA.

I went to Everest and like everyone else, I can't find a job because I lack experience. I have tried working with Genesis explaining that my dogs come first, I will feed them before I pay Genesis. I have called crying and frustrated and they just don't care. They are no help. I told the lady on the phone that she had a job so she didn't understand and she got really rude and told me to stop being a whiny brat! That I needed to come up with the money and pay it to them. Well, when they start calling me now I will be angry. I've been trying to make my payment (with the money I DON'T have) and their phone service is down! I refuse to give them extra money to pay my bill while talking to a rep when I should just be able to call it in and do it automatically, this whole thing is stupid, one of the biggest regrets I have!

I'm so frustrated with this company calling and not leaving a message daily. My son went to Wyotech and they talked him into signing with Genesis Lending for student loans. My son never should have had to do that. my husband was a professor here in WV and had been in education for years. Then 4 years ago he ended up completely disabled due to surgery. So my son should have been able to go to college without having to sign with any lenders. They are ignorant, uncaring, unprofessional. They don't care that we live on a fixed income. And please be careful, because they can attach your income taxes and take it all. Southwest Student had taken every dime of our taxes two years ago from my husbands student loans. I had two written off due to his disability, and they left a third loan (thru southwest student) outstanding and didn't process it with the other two. Watch your backs, they are sneaky. My heart goes out to all of you.

If you hear a pause before a telemarketer speaks, they are using a predictive dialing system. That gap is the computer recognizing you've picked up (and are not an answering machine) and connects you to a live person. Similarly, if no personnel is there to receive you, don't fret. No one is there on the other end, so don't feel creeped out.

Want to know more? When no one is on the other line, it is a miscalculation of the 'dialer' (a person who regulates the balance between calls and people available to take them). The system dials, say, 10 numbers, and the dialer expects only 3 to pick up per a previously recorded result. 3 personnel are available for those who do pick up. Lets say 4 pick up. One call gets "dropped" as only 3 personnel are available. This may seem like a stupid idea, but as someone who worked in a customer service call center with and without this system, personally having to hear answer machine after answering machine only to have 1 person pick up (and be angry) after 20 calls, is highly inefficient on a business perspective. Many companies use this, and it highly improves productivity. Sometimes there is no one manning it at all and it's entirely computerized.

Long story short, if you hear a pause and then someones on the other end, they want your money in some way or another (and be nice, it's just a job and not a fun or well paid one at that). If you hear no one, no one's there.

I am constantly getting calls from the above number.  They usually start out shortly after 8 AM & can continue throughout the day.  They relate to a person with the name Brittany Byrd (sp).  I am a senior citizen with health issues & cannot tolerate these calls.  I have had my telephone number for over fifty years, have never heard of Brittany Byrd & will report this company to the Attorney General in the State of Kansas on the basis of harassment.  PLEASE HELP!!!!

That has happened to my son, and he wasn't even sure what the loan was about, until I started receiving statements. They are horrible with all the late fees and constant calling. Son finished school but is unemployed, they do not care!

I went to Everest.... I regreat it so bad they never even helped me get a job like they said. If u don't pay the money back it will be diducted from your income tax sooner or later because its a government loan.

I too have a loan from this company, I don't know what is going on in your conversations but I have never had a rude individual when I have spoken with them and I was out of work for four months. So perhaps its the means by which you treat them? Things go both ways. In reference to the individual above "1234" I do believe they can garnish your wages it's still a company that helps pay for schooling so it is possible. If an apartment complex can do it there is no reason why they can't it all depends on how much money accrues until they finally decide to go to court with it. But eventually they may do so. I will say however they do call you incessantly.

I paid my bill late about 2 days late and they are still calling for the payment... check your damn records morons

Very annoying!! I changed my number so they couldn't call thats how bad it had gotten.. They are very impatient and if I ever return to a college and these jerk offs are their lenders I will look fire a new college!!!

I too had the annoying calls every day sometimes up to 5 times a day even if i was within my grace period. It's ridiculous. I just recently finished paying it off for them to report some bs that I still owe them 300 and some odd dollars and I'm less than two payments behind! Which Previously it state on my credit report that I was paying on time as agreed! Wtf I will never take a loan out from them and again and will never advise anyone to go to Everest. They try pushing you into home health care when no other companies in our area will hire their students because they take anyone on. I graduated from there with a 96.6 for my overall score. However it didn't do me any good 3 years later and I have given up on trying to find a job in that field!

Genesis Lending a student loan company that have no idea or correct information to whom they loan money to they are very disorganized and have call me on varies people that I do not know. professional they are not and seem to be out to destroy or collect people ss#.

These people called me everyday, when i kept telling them that i didnt sign up from them and then these ppl say well are u in wyotech and i told them yes but i told them that i never heard of you or had any paperwork about you, then they say my mother co-signed for me and i told them thats bs, she was currently unemployed and wasnt able to..to top it off they did it for her and put the wrong date of birth, then i get a letter in the mail from them they are sorry and did a charge off becuase i reported my credit as fraud and once again they are starting to call again saying i own them money and i keep telling this bi*** that i dont, i have a letter proving i dont, these people are the most dumbest jack***'s i ever knew, they can go f*** themself all of them and btw dont ever go to wyotech for school they dont teach s***, everything they show i already and that was a 40k school wtf

Kelz i have a student loan from them as well and i have been paying them back for the last year but i cant afford to make my payments anymore and they will not work with me at all i cried and cried and didnt know what to do but i now too feel how u do i am not paying them back s*** they can try to sue me or whatever i have nothing to give....BUT CAN THEY END UP GARNISHING WAGES? like federal loans or no? do u no?? i have tried and tried saying i could pay half and they wont budge so i feel like if they cant work with me then im done trying.

It's like this.... Everest Is the biggest scam That I have come across in my life. They lie to students and tell them what ever they want to hear to get them enrolled. Once enrolled and they get all your money and make you take out the genesis loan to cover your tuition because the tuition there is so painfully high that it should be illegal. Once they have all that money, they suddenly stop giving a s*** about the students. My story is that I signed the Genesis May of 2011 it was at 8% so I didn't really mind. Months later just before Graduation, Everest told me that the loan never went through. And I had to either take it out or owe them a balance and if I owed them I would not be able to graduate and my transcripts would be frozen which meant I wouldn't be able to take my state exam. So I redid the loan and the interest rate jumped up to 15%. F That!!! I felt as if there was no choice. So I signed the loan with no intention of paying them back for Still haven't paid a penny to those a***oles and will never. They can take me to court and sue me for something I don't have or they can get that money back from Everest. Either way I will not pay them and I suggest you don't either. It is nothing but a scam and they should all be arrested for what they do to us.

i got a call from them today and they told me to ask my family to give me money every month to pay them and i said no i am not going to ask my family for money, it just doesnt feel right. i went to
everest and genesis constantly keeps calling me i told them that when i get it you'll get it. i thought i was the only person to have a problem with them. they are the worst for loans i sometimes regret going to college because of them.

I know right I have a loan from them too. I never paid a day late in my life and my Genesis Loan bill keeps on going up. My first payment was $89.90 then my second payment was $99 or something like that. Now my payment for the third month is $106.20. Can they do that to you?!?! Everest College was the worst thing that I have gotten into. I dropped out of that s*** hole of a school! It is a piece of s***!!! God I am so frustrated! Can someone help me please? Has anybody else had this problem? Can they do that to me?

I wish I never signed up for a student loan from this lender.This is one of the biggest mistake I made. They call you everyday and don't say a word. They are very rude on the phone. They know they can get away with everything.

Everest institute will rip you off by not telling you all the money you will really have to pay and how it is due whether you have a job or not they dont ask or care as long as you get hooked with their contract. And Genesis Lending is their loan co.
