It's World Fitness, I wrote a letter asking them to terminate my contract. I know it's early, but my contract expires in February 2013. Come on it's 4 months. REALLY! I live about 30 miles away from the gym and went straight from work when I first signed up. I've had some family issues come up and haven't been able to go. The registration fee is making my bank account go in the negative just about every month. I was told by the Service Department that they couldn't cancel my membership because I knew how far I lived from the guym when I first signed up so the living outside the 30 mile radius doesn't pertain to me.

`I have tried to cancel with National Fitness.  I am a heart patient who no longer can go to a gym, we moved from the town where the gym is at and we are down to one car that my husband uses for work.  I have tried to explain my situation and cancel my membership but to no avail.
They keep calling and will not stop. I even changed bank so they no longer had access to direct withdrawal.   I have explained to them on numerous occasion the situation and to stop calling.

Canceled my Lady of America gym membership IN WRITING because I moved 700 miles away. They didn't stop charging, forwarded them the letter a second, then third time, still didn't stop charging me, so I canceled that card. Now the account 'holder', National Fitness is calling me from a bunch of different numbers.

Starts out automated, but when I do try to speak to someone, it always disconnects. I just keep blocking the numbers. If they disconnect me when I elect to speak with them, then they obviously don't want to speak to me that badly.

This company called my phone asking for "Laura"; When I asked who was calling my line the woman stated "National Fitness" so I said no laura here, and she became extremely rude asking me "Why i needed to know who she was if im not Laura" I advised, she called my phone and I can ask any questions I feel like. The rep became mad, made a few comments and hung up. Upon calling the company back I asked for a supervisor and was told Supervisors do NOT handle incoming calls, and I could only make a complaint to the reps. This did no good, since the next rep I spoke with was just as argumentative, rude, and disrespectful as the first. After engaging in a pointless convorsation- (The rep accused me of taking a call for someone I was not, when I clearly explained I was NOT laura in the first place) I had to say atleast ten different times, to take my number out and never call again-which I highly doubt they will follow through on. Mind you, I have been a collection rep for 7+ yrs and I dont speak to ppl that way on the phones when im working, even though collections is NOT customer service,  it's a matter of being a decent human. However, since they are not 3rd party collections they do NOT have to follow FDCPA, so I suppose they dont consider calling numerous times a day, and arguing with people as "harassment" (even when you tell them not to call). The only thing you can really do is either block the number, answer and argue to piss them off, or just fwd it to vm.

This is a typical "scum bag" operation.  If I am further contacted by them I will turn the matter over to authorities...local, state, and/or federal.  Having been in the "news business" from small market to network in New York, I have access to untold agencies which deal with such "nefarious" scammers.

Just keep calling that 800 number as many times as you can.  It costs them money every time your call their 800 number.  They will stop calling you.  They did for me.

I keep getting calls from this number from an account at American Family Fitness.  I had to cancel this account due to a severe medical issue.  They flat out told me and my credit card company, that my doctor wasn't qualified to make that determination and they know more.  Really???  Where did they get their medical degree.   I had a doctor's note, which is listed in the contract as significant reason to cancel.  Do Not Answer these calls.!

A gym membership is the biggest rip off on the planet.  I had a membership with Lady of America, I paid all monthly dues as they took it direct from my bank account every month.  The 1 year ended. I called and told them i was not renewing.   Yet i got this call,  I didn't answer but they left a message to call them back,...  I don't think so.

Signed up for a gym membership a couple of years ago- specifically signed up to NOT auto renew.  Sure enough, the money keeps coming out even after faxing them a copy of the membership I signed.  Finally had to close the bank account they had just as some of the others have said.  If your gym uses these people find a new gym!

I was going a local one loaction gym called THE ZOO in Ft lauderdale in 2008. I belonged before and travel a lot. I cancelled my membership according to the contact with the desk and gave it to them in writting. The charge my card for one month ok cool. It came thru again I called the manager Eric who left and disputed the charge with my credit card company. Did not hear boo not nothing nada for 3 year. I get this call out of nowhere that said I owe 120.00 for the 3 month after my disputed charge. I am an honest man and pay my bills. This just sends me over the edge...National Fitness is acting as a collection agency and they have no licences in the state of Ut. I am filing a lot of complaints.......

I've been receiving calls from this number. They leave messages saying, "This is an important message about your lady of America membership. It is important that you return this call." but they don't leave any number. I had no idea what lady of America was so I Googled it and it's a fitness chain. They've obviously got the wrong number because I've never even been to a fitness center!

It's Gold's Gym with me, too.  My two-year membership ran out and they refuse to let me go.  It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.  They call every day.  I wasted several calls and more than several emails and finally told them I wasn't responding anymore.  That was 2 months ago and still they call, every day.  And every month I get another bill with more money on it.  My two-year thing ran out in July and it's now January of the next year.  I don't see why somebody can't shut these people down!

I called the company last week to cancel my membership due to my bank account being compromised. They told me that I needed a letter from my bank stating what actions were being taken on my account. I have never recieved a call from this number ever...I called them last week now all of a sudden they start calling me telling me that I owe them. I haven't even cancelled the membership yet...and I don't owe them. I have to sign over my first born to cancel!

Left messages on my cell phone while I was at work. Leaves only first name and a number to call back at. Does not leave last name, identify company, or what the call is in reference to. Would you return a call under those circumstances? I figured it was someone trying to sell me something so I ignored it, but it kept happening so I googled the number and here I am.

My gym is American Family Fitness. Apparently you're really paying them, even though it says American Family Fitness on my Visa bill every month.

So then I look at my unopened mail and find one from National Fitness. I didn't open it when it came in last month toot sweet, because with the name of a company I am not familiar with on the return label of a boring envelope makes it look like junk mail that I ignore and let pile up until I'm bored enough to look at them and throw them away, that's why.

I open it. Ooh, a collection letter. (Says my autodraft payment was refused even though nothing about my account has changed in 10 years). What a scam.
