I had this charge on my credit card statement and it was for the baseball league that I registered my son for, another reason to add to the list. This was a legit charge for me as well!
Very helpful. Saved me calling VISA. I had signed up myself and my daughter for a triathlon and the billing came from this unrecognized ACT etc. All good :)

Showed up on my credit card bill as " ACT*SRGSL Register 877-228-4881CA". I think the limited space they have to put something leads to confusion, but luckily SRGSL was there to tip me off that it was the local Girls Softball League. I'm guessing this is a credit processing service that various cities and charities use. Appears to be used across the USA based on other posts.
I was worried as well after viewing my cc statement, but after reading the comments the amount and date of transaction can be traced to a race i'm running in chicago.
Same charge here, forgot to un-check the free trial for activeadvantage, you can read more and how to get a pro-rated refund here: http://users.active.com/active/topics/mysterious_charge_on_my_account
Wow, thanks for this info ~~ I was freaking out, but realized now it's for the Marine Corps Marathon!
i got this same message on my statement. it is the Active.com Site.
I ran the Hell Run in Austin almost a month ago, they charged me this amount when I first signed up for the race. So why am I being charged AGAIN? I haven't signed up for any more races.
I found four charges over the past few weeks, but came to realize that they were all charges for Chicago Park District events--ice skating show tickets and kids' summer classes/camps. It seems the Chicago Park District uses the service for credit/debit charges.
Mine was on as ACT REGISTRATION: Found it was from a local park that I paid entry fee for.
Just noticed a charge for $59.95 from ACT* REGISTRATION 877-228-4881 CA.
Have been on hold for some time now. Read the above but they don't seem to apply.
I got a charge and finally realized it was for a one month gym membership at a gym owned by the City of Santa Fe, which was correct. The charge said "ACT*cityofsantafe 877-228-4881 CA"
This is a huge scam. Call and ask for your money back. I just called and got a refund.
Saw similar charge ony bank account and have not registered for any marathons. Then I saw the post about ski rentals at a rec center and remembered my husband to my daughter the the rec center to go swimming.
What is the number to call because that must be exactly what just happened to me.
This number answers nicely and tells you they cannot answer your call but will transfer you to message center, then they disconnect you time after time after time. They (Active*Registration) have another number 877-228-4881 for which I have so far been on hold for 2 hours and 2 minutes with continued interruptions to tell you they will answer your call in the order it was received. I called two minutes after they opened and am still on hold. They have charged my bank with a 71.90 dollar fee which I will dispute, but there is no way to contact them by email or phone it would appear. I am not the first one to be caught up in this scam practice by this company. Their web site is not interactive.
Mine was for the same thing RocknRoll Marathon. I freaked out when I was the statement but thanks for you post it cleared it up for me!
I signed my son up for "ING Kids Rock" one mile marthon and it appeared as a withdrawal from ACT competitor group. It is legitimate.
I have had 5 different charges every other month from this description. I don't run marathons, so I am calling this one in to the cc company. thanks, this post was simple to google and find out the real deal with these charges.
It was for our county water park entrance fee.
Just find a 59.95 membership fees that I did not sign up for. I am going to file a lawsuit to small claim court.
may be it is legit. but you got to be careful....first they charged me for marathon (OK)...and about a month later they charged me 59.95 membership fees that I did not sign up for. If you call them, they will reimburse you within a week.
Not legit. Never signed up for a marathon. Totally fraud.
After reading this blog I was able to track this back to my Recreation fees, they must use this company
Make sure that it isn't another charge for a membership. I was charged twice and the second was months after I registered for the triathlon, and a different amount. I don't like it when companies have these gimmicky memberships!
Got this too, freaked me out at first, but it's for a half-marathon that I signed up for. It's legit.
never heard of this before. Didnt sign myself up for any marathon so its a scam or identity theft.
I saw this on my latest statement too and I didn't know what it was for (couldn't remember any company by this name). After Googleing I found this and now the memory comes flooding back. This is from Active.com and it's for the Rock n Roll Half Marathon I signed up for in Chicago.
It's a LEGIT CHARGE.
Have a $20 charge for a golf tee time in NJ, I'm in MN. BIG FRAUD
unsure who this caller is - $150.00 charge on visa statement.
