I received a phone call saying that  needed to call Chase Credit Fraud AT MY EARLIEST CONVENIENCE.  when I did so, the system refused to let me in without giving my Chase credit card account number.  I do not have a Chase credit card, so, am assuming this is a robo-call to entice people to give information that will then be used fraudulently.

Got a call wanted to me call 800-955-9060 and verify my Chase credit card account activities. I called the number on the back of my credit card instead. The rep said the received info from VISA that my account was in very high risk of being hacked. So I asked him to close my account and issue me a new card (after his suggestion). I made sense too because I had been having that card for many years.

Why would they call and ask you for info your card bank would already have on file. Never give any info over the phone. Ever. Ask for the requests in writing via U.S.mail.

As stated above, this is a legitimate number.  I would still get in contact with Chase via the number on your card but this number is used to notify you of transactions flagged as fraud.

This is NOT a scam. It is Chase Bank. They called about suspicious activity on my card. Just to be safe, I called the number on the back of my credit card and they verified this was in fact Chase trying to contact me.

Got a messege at work to call April at 1-800-955-9060. Called the number and it sounded legitamite but after I gave my info to the automated system I had second thoughts so I called the number on the back of  my card. They were very helpful and informed me that it was legitamate. My account number was on a list of potencial fraud charges. Preventative action, my card was cancelled before any fraudulant charges had occured. They said my new card would be delivered with signature required within 2 days. We'll see if that happens......

This isn't a scam, it is the fraud department at Chase.  Call the 800 number on the back of the card and the only information they should ask you is name, birthdate, and last four digits of the card.

We received a message to call 800-955-9060 giving us a 5 digit code to give for reference.  We did so and we were told that our credit card had been cancelled due to suspicious activity.  They gave us the specific dates and amounts from transactions we had the day before.  They only asked for the last 4 digits of my ss number and last 4 digits of my account.  Everything seemed very legitimate.   However, I called the phone number on the back of my Chase credit card to ease my suspicions.  Everything was legitimate.  The phone # 800-955-9060 IS a Chase phone number.

I received a letter from from so-called "Fraud Operations" stating that there has been "recent transaction activity appearing on your account." I can't say if this was a scam letter or not, but I can say this: I never activated my card and, when I tried getting on the Chase website using the account number on the card, I got a "No Account Listed" message back. Now, if Chase can't find the account, how the hell can there be any "recent activity" on it? Is the letter a scam? My bet says that it is.

I know that there are people who want to believe that every caller out there is trying to scam them, but realize that not every Chase employee is going to know every single one of their phone numbers.  Sure do the safe thing and call the number on the back of your card, but this number is a verified Chase Number of the Chase Fraud Prevention Department.  This post I am replying to is now 5 years old but quite prominant - and wrong, and the number is one of many assigned to Chase by what I can tell - and I asked the representative that I spoke with to verify its authenticity (which he did ) but then I also asked him to tell his management about all the negative posts which leave doubt in ones head.  Making what should have been a fast return call, quite an effort on my part and likely others like me, who want to do the right thing.  Chase's Fraud Control group should list all of their numbers or at least provide a better faster way to verify the number's authenticity.

My husband and I both got a call from this number.  I was concerned and googled the number to find it was a scam.  However charges that were not mine were reported to me by the caller on the other end and charges that were mine.  I called the number on the back of my credit card to find that my account was closed which is what I had just done with the person on the other end of the phone.  It is a legit call.

This call is legitimate. I just received a voice mail from 480-902-6000 instructing me to call this 800 number back about fraudulent charges. I didn't trust it so I called the number on my Chase Visa card. My card had indeed been compromised and a new one is on the way.

I got this message. I called chase back and it was legitimate. I had already had a card taken and they shut it down. But always verify who you are dealing with.

Legit number. I had contacted Chase about some suspicious activity on my card and they left me a voicemail asking me to call back on this number. I also checked the Secure Message Center on my Chase Online Banking account and they referred me to the same number. I called and had my problem settled so this definitely is the number for Chase Fraud Operations.

Always hang up and call the telephone number printed on the reverse of your credit card.  If you give out your information to an unsolicited caller, you have absolutely no way of verifying who this person is.  Scammers have technology to display any number of legitimate names in your caller ID.  Any bank, Chase, Bank of America etc, will contact you via mail.  Ask yourself why a business would need you to verify SS# and account numbers that they already have?

Legit. I called the # on the back of my card instead to be sure, which is always an option.  There was a $588 charge I didn't make!

The number is legit.

I received fraud alert email a couple three days ago. Somebody had attempted to charge (amount under $15) a gas purchase to my card. Charge was in CA; I am in VA. So I clicked on the link in the email to confirm that I had not authorized the charge.

Today I am getting another fraud alert email. So I am logging on to the website. The status of that charge is no longer "pending", but now "posted".  So I wrote them a message through the "Secure Message Center" to please take that charge off my account. Hours later the answer: they cannot help me with my inquiry; I'd have to call 1-800-955-9060.

And so I called. They asked for my full account # and for the last four of my SSN. They said that they needed to close my account to protect my money. Somebody used a physical card with my information on it in California.  Which is weird, because I only use the card for purchases on Amazon.com. It's a Amazon/Chase card.

So now they're closing the account, and sending me another card. But the question remains: between Amazon and Chase, who gave out my information? Because I sure didn't.

800 955 9060 is one of the phone numbers for Chase's Fraud Dept. How paranoid some of these posts made me to think I called the wrong number and provided them with personal information. I asked the Chase rep to dial that number and confirm for me that it was legitimate. She put me on hold and returned to the phone stating it is their Fraud Dept. She confirmed the conversation I had with them earlier. THIS NUMBER IS LEGITIMATE!!!!

This number is legit...there was a test charge to Walmart for $5.  They had tried to charge some trip on Virgin Air to my acct.  They cancelled the card instantly.  I knew my balance was $0 not $5.

Oh wait, never mind, I'm a complete idiot. So I actually just called Chase to double check on this, and I guess the call I received was a legit call placed about ten minutes after the fraudulent purchase was attempted. I thought the fraudulent purchase was a week later. Anyhoo, the woman I spoke to at Chase verified that this number is one of theirs, and she mentioned that there's a lot of numbers Chase has that aren't on their website. She said whenever i receive a call I'm suspicious of i should just call the chase number on the website and verify the number with chase. Personally, I wish Chase would publish a list of the numbers they use so we can all refer to it and stop having to deal with this crappy guessing game...

I got a call from this number with saying I had a fraudulent charge on my credit card, which I hung up to, and then called Chase with a real number on their website and they said there had been NO FRAUDULANT CHARGES. Then, a week later, my credit card begins to be declined, and I call Chase and they tell me that a week AFTER I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER a fraudulent charge was placed on my credit card. I guess the b*****ds using this number finally figured out my information without me telling them and started trying to buy things :/ I've been plagued with fake calls from chase for the last month, it's maddening. I no longer answer the phone if its not from a phone number I can recognize or verify on the internet. Thanks for making the world a sucky place scammers...I live almost below the poverty line, can you at least pick on someone with actual money? Jesus.

This # is real.  I was suspicious too & called the # on the back of my card.  There was no fraudulent activity on my card but they recommended cancelling it since someone's database had been compromised.  The message was real, Chase fraud prevention, no cause for alarm.

This is a legit Chase Card Fraud Services number. The guy I spoke with was professional. I even called the number on the back of the card to verify what I had done was correct. So yes, this is a legit number :)
