Never pay collection agencies, ignore their calls, and add them to your call block on your phone, when they call you and you answer or call back that is a positing.  If you owe a debt, contact the original creditor to pay the bill back, this will be cleared from your credit report by them, they can send you proof via letter, and you can have these ignorant companies who buy dead debt to make a living removed from your credit file.  And to think they have the nerve to talk about hard working people who have real jobs, and they are in the business of harassing people for money the people don't even owe them, they just bought a dumb unpaid debt.  I say that is their stupidity.  So dispute these idiots on your credit report, if they don't have the original debt they have no claim and can be removed from your report.  Make the credit bureaus fight for you; after all they let these companies post to your file.  Be smart, check your file and block these idiots.

I with you with the exception of people living beyond their means, this is based upon a percentage of people.  I can use myself for example, my life change when corporate downsizing occurred, which created an income change in my financial situation.  While finding other employment, I continued to meet my financial obligations.  Ok so life continues.  Now I can?t work due to a recent medical diagnosis, so while still meeting my financial obligations which now include medical bills.  Which will last my smart savings, my life I have left, or will I simply tire of giving while out with no income coming in.  So it is true God supplies all of our needs, but not everything is based on living beyond our means.  I live in an apartment, and I drive a 2007, I don't live beyond my means, however I pray that I can continue to live within them.  I also realize collection is just another way for other companies to make a living off people who could not pay a bill for whatever reason.  But the truth to the matter is if they could not pay the original creditor who they can always contact to pay, they can?t or if smart enough to know they don't have to pay a collector, they did not occur the debt from a collector, the collector.  While I pray I will not have a bill to go into collection.  But for sure, if I can't work it out with the original debtor, I would never ever pay a collector.  After all they are not under the same laws with the credit bureaus.

Debt Collector
I too have gotten calls from this "collection agency". As far as I know, I don't owe any money. Nothing shows up on my credit report saying I owe money.  They call numerous times a day. If I don't answer, they don't leave a message. When I have answered, they want my full name, date of birth and SS#. When I ask for more info about my supposed debt, they give me no answers. I'm not giving out any info about myself unless they can prove its legit. I've asked them to mail me paperwork numerous times so that I can see if I really owe money to someone that I don't know about, but they won't send me any proof. Years ago, I did owe money somewhere and received calls from a different collection agency. I requested that they send me paperwork and they wouldn't. Tried to set up a payment arrangement with them and they wanted way more than I could afford to pay each month. I tried to explain this to them, but they just didn't listen and didn't care. I wasn't trying to get out of paying, I was just trying to make an arrangement for a lower amount. This bill went into collections as I had injured myself at work and was waiting for Workmans Comp to kick in. I fell behind on everything, but called every place that I get a bill from (phone, cable, electric, car insurance, etc) and explained the situation to all of them and they all worked with me. Some places even waived the late fee. I finally told the debt collector that I could only pay a certain amount each month and that I needed their address to send a money order to them. They said I had to use a credit card. No way was I giving them a credit card number when they wanted a larger amount paid each month and I couldn't afford to pay that much each month. I'm not going to agree to pay an amount that I know I can't afford and get in trouble because I wasn't able to make the payments. I finally stopped answering their calls, but they would call and leave messages saying that I was commiting fraud and they were going to contact thd DA in my county, etc. I knew who the bill was for, so I tried contacting them to see if they would take my account out of collections and set up a payment arrangement with me. They told me that they weren't able to do that. I tried explaining that I did want to pay the bill, but the collection agency wasn't willing to settle on a payment agreement with me. Unfortunately, they weren't able to help me. Anyways, I still have a bill out there somewhere in some collection agency's file. I feel bad because I of want to pay it. If they could have at least given me an address, I would be sending money monthly until the bill was paid off. But they wouldn't, so my credit suffers. So, right now, I am putting aside money every month until I have the full amount that is owed so that I can pay the debt off. And I won't be using a bank account or a credit card to pay it with. I will get one of those Visa cards that you load money onto and pay with that.

Then get a new job.  Your company and others like it engage in sleazy practices, and deserve every bit of the hatred.  As their front person, you must expect to bear the public response to that.  If you can't take it, quit and get a job with a better environment, and where you are really making a positive difference in the world.

And what about the many of us who do not owe any debts but had our numbers mistakenly attached to someone else's file and have to deal with companies who will not accept that as the truth and refuse to remove the numbers, refuse to give us their real company name and mailing address so we can force stop the calls, and generally act out of compliance with the law and accepted business practices?

Only 16 and spending your time here?
How about this.
Instead of chiming in on subjects you're too young to understand, stick your nose back in your English books and brush up on grammar!
You have a sunny disposition on life, just be credible with proper grammar and spelling--if wasting time in forums.

Why did your agent told me he was an Immigration agent? Why did he tell me that 'ALL OF MY FAMILY..starting with the babies were going to be deported.." in SPANISH?
You, your company has no right no intimidate me-or my family-on the basis of race and/or ethnicity. Let alone the FACT that is a collection agency, not a governmental agency.
I will take the steps necessary to defend myself-and family- from this harassment.

Your company bought that debt from the consumer credit division of a bank that has been given hundreds of billions in taxpayer dollars as bailouts by the government for literally pennies on the dollar.

Not a single one of the people you are hassling owes your company a penny, you're just a tool they are using to profit from other people's misfortune - that your company acquired for next to nothing.

If you get a full collect on a debt, your company makes a 97% profit, minus whatever piddling amount of money they're paying to keep you off welfare.

I sincerely hope you sleep really poorly at night because you're a parasite working for a parasite and don't deserve a good night's sleep.

I got a call from this number a short while ago and when I did some research, I realized they are a "debt collection agency". I immediately made sure that my student loans - the only money I owe to anyone, anywhere - were copacetic and found that they're all either not due or in auto repay. I tried calling back and when someone finally answered, I explained that I had received a call a short time earlier and the woman hung up on me. What bull.

This number called my phone a short while ago so I did some research. When I realized it was a debt collection agency, I checked my student loans to be sure everything is copacetic. They're all still in auto pay or not due yet. I don't own anything else so that really narrows down my "oops I'm screwed" options... I called back, waited on hold for a few seconds, and when someone answered I said I had been called a short while earlier. The woman went silent and hung up.

This is about consumers' rights when it comes to the collection of debts.

Thanks for playing.

your company called looking for my dead mother in law and my wife it would be very nice if they left the name of the company and the reason they were calling my wife called back and left a descriptive message of the situation with the estate. they call again two weeks later I am calling now and will straighten this out we paid every bill we have not responsible for this . it is an estate situation.  your comment offends me as too many times you jump to conclusions I respect the job you do I just do not respect the way some of your agents do it
