Debt Collector
They buy debts and then robo-call to anybody with the same last name who lives in the general vicinity where the original debtor lived.  If enough people contact the NY State Attorney General and complain, they will be fined

I got a call from this number on my cell phone.  ID said unknown caller.  I dialed the number from my land line and a recorded voice came and said "hold for a representative," I hung up immediately figuring it was some type of scam.  i just entered this number in the reverse phone search area and it says the number of not valid.

THIS ACT ONLY APPLYS TO TELEMARKETING AND SOLICITATION PHONE CALLS NOT COLLECTION CALLS SO THAT ACT DOESN'T REALLY MEAN ANY THING TO THIS COMPANY.

I don't recommend this practice.

Collection agencies mostly use automated dialers.  These dialers can monitor when a phone call is picked up.  If you answer your phone at, say, 3:35PM, you will be called by them via the auto-dialer at or around that time everyday.  The reason for this is your initial pick-up indicated to the agency that the time of 3:35 PM is when you are available to answer your phone.

Believe me, leaving a collector hanging on the phone does not irritate them or waste their precious time.  They'll just tick your name off for another day and continue down their list.

ANSWER their call when you see it on the ID screen, but DON'T talk to them.....after you answer, say "hi, hang on for a minute", then go wash your face, flush a toilet, read the paper, brush your teeth, watch TV, after a few minutes, go back to the call...say "hi, still there? sorry, one more minute"...then go feed the dog, make a meal, brush your hair...come back on the phone..."oh, sorry, wait just a second"...then straighten out your desk, surf the web.....you get my drift?

It will waste their precious time, it will cause one of their many phone lines to get tied up, if they're using a robo caller, same thing, ties up a line, caller is going to have a pay more for the long distance call. Even if they hang up, your phone will go into a loud annoying disconnect noise, but it hasn't truly been disconnected yet, so I put the noisy phone under some towels, inside the sofa, under a pile of clothes, maybe up to 5-8 minutes. So you can imagine if we all simply do this say thru out the country, 5 times within a 15 minute period...they can't start to call out till you personally disconnect or in some cases the phone co. system will disconnect you which is fine since you already tied up a line for a few minutes.  Time is money to these debt collectors and of those that are of other types of telemarketing.

Spread the word on this of answering the call, but don't talk to them, just tie up their phone lines.

You can also sue them under the TCPA Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991. It states that if they call you with an autodialer or pre recorded message, you can sue them for 500$ per call. if the judge feels that the calls were intentional, you can be awarded up to 3x that amount for each call.

I received a call. When I answered, we seemed to get disconnected. I called back later. I was greeted by just a hello from a woman. I asked what company she was with and she rattled something off quickly. When asked again, she hung up.

Their reps are billing for attempts to contact you and adding fees to your account.  Write them to tell them to stop calling, contest the claim, ask they validate the debt, and you'll never hear from them again unless they try to con you with some meaningless document they got from your old bank or something.  If you didn't borrow money from these people, then you don't owe them squat.  It is a con.

I got a call from this number at 8:35 a.m. Saturday May 22, 2010 with no one apparently on the line.  I called back a minute later, and a man answered, or mumbled, something "management".  I asked what the call was about, and he asked what my number was.  I responded, "Does it matter?", and he became very obnoxious and very loud to the point I couldn't understand anything he was saying.  He sounded like an insane person.  It was very strange.  I just learned this number belongs to

Woops. Thought I should be more specific. Each time they called, I would answer and the call would get disconnected. I finally got fed up with it and called them back and someone answered "Capital Management Services - this is______." I told them I had received a call from them 3 times day and each time got disconnected. They told me who they were looking for (the person does not live here) and they thanked me and said they would not it on their records.

I received a call from this number when I answered they only hang up.  I called it back and they answer capital management company and when I asked why they would be calling me they hang up.  called it back and got a different rep 3 different times and got hung up on in the same manner.  It makes no sense why a company would be calling trying to reach someone so bad that when called back want nothing to do with them.  I just want them to stop calling!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of these post are very disturbing to me. If your loan defaulted and was written off, that's it, case closed unless the loan originator received a court judgment. They get to write it off their books and improve their lending balance. I guess our wonderful politicians made it legal for them to then sell the paper to collection agencies which should be unlawful (getting write-off then income).

If you could buy a $1,000 note for ten dollars and then collect the thousand. That's very profitable isn't it? You could even give an employee a hundred dollar commission and still make good profit, couldn't you? That's what is happening here!

If you have to talk to one of these Turkeys, tell them unless they have a contract signed by you, between their company and you, you're not paying a cent. Yes they will start the very weak argument that you signed with xyz credit card company etc,. and that now they bought the paper and therefore you owe them the debt etc., etc. Just tell tell them they have your condolences that they bought bad paper and that they do not have your permission to call you on this phone again! The very idea that I
have to put up with this drib on a cell phone that I pay for the minutes. Besides my cell is my work phone. I had one to demand that I take him off speaker phone. My response: "Don't tell me how to use my phone"! He said he couldn't stand those things. "Fine it's speaker phone or dial tone pal"! I'm just as impersonal as they are. It's all about intimidation. Without it, they have nothing, zip, Nada, bump kiss.

Right now I have an unknown collection agency calling demanding I call them about a very important business matter. If a calling party doesn't state their business name, it is not so important and they are hiding something. This is what I have done. I went to Google voice and listed my cell and home phone. When they called I listed them as spam and clicked on Block Caller. Now they get the three tones and "this phone has been disconnected". Since I can't get an address to send a CEASE-COMMUNICATIONS letter I have to counteract their tactic until it is no longer effective. You can use the Google Voice spam settings to list their number, they may have many, and you never are bothered by the call. Answer a computer with a computer! Don't let these people intimate you. Skype maybe another service you can use.

NCO called 9 months until I sent a receipt requested-certified letter to
their home office in PA. When they buy some more of my bad paper I'm sure they will start up again and I will spend another five bucks to get them off my back. If you are really mad and really want to stick it to them for not crossing their T's and dotting their I's, go to:
www.jurisdictionary.com/index.asp?refercode=GH0004      Some people are making money off these stupid people because they don't follow the law that governs their own industry. Above all don't ride the guilt trip. Trillions of our money are being spent very irresponsibly because someone wasn't doing their job overseeing the mortgage industry. Will they have to pay back all the defaults?

I was a FEMA inspector after hurricane Rita and Wilma, serving my country and giving away money to the people to put back their lives post-storm. My pay would start a month after I was deployed. I wrote all my creditors and alerted them of my cash flow situation. I even wrote a vice president of Chase bank. You know what, no one wanted to talk to me or arrange a skipped payment. Now the Statute of Limitations is up and my credit is clean and everyone wants to call me. Isn't that sweet?

Definitely keep track of their calls. They're notorious for violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If you keep a log of their calls, it will help you if you decide to sue them under the FDCPA.

I found some good info on the company here: http://stopcollector.com/agency.php?n=capital_management
