received a call today from a man with Indian accent telling me he found virus and other things on my computer -- said he was from GPS 247 -- thank goodness my 18 year old son was home and told me to hang up or I probably would have fallen for the scam too

I have to agree with Kelly. This is a scam.
Chap called "mike" with an Indian accent. told me he had info on errors on my machine....yet couldn@t supply a MAC address or IP adress for my machine. Told me Microsft supplied the errors and the GPS system supplied my name and address????
Told me I had a Trojan Csrss.exe that norton anti virus doesn't know about or detect yet couldn't even tell me which of my 4 machines he was talking about
John Locke.....do you have an Indian accent aswell?
Have had similar calls from other "UK based" indian sounding companies before All go along the same lines.
TOTAL SCAM

Bunch of scammers, I wouldn't trust them one bit. Tried to tell me my computer had loads of errors, trojans etc. and tried to get me to install TeamViewer. I managed to keep the con artists on the phone for 38 minutes before they realised they weren't getting anywhere. 38 minutes less time for them to try and rip someone else off.
Claimed their UK office was at "54 Eston, Luton, LUI 3QE". LU1 3QE is Ashton Road in Luton (Aston/Eston, quite similar with an Indian accent).

A man with a heavy India accent called and said he was an agent for Microsoft. I asked him for the company name and he said something but I could not understand him. He said that my computer was being hacked by some in Russia. Since I could not understand him I asked for the telephone number to call him back to speak to someone else. Instead I immediately called AT&T and they checked my line and said that they could not see any activity. When I googled the telelphone number I found this website. I suppose this is a scam of some kind. Hope this helps others.

Kelly is RIGHT ON! I just got the same call and any idiot knows someone can't just call and let you know you have a computer virus. This shumck couldn't even tell me what kind of computer I may or may not have had. Fact is.... don't have a computer at home, only at work. Scammers... will report them.

I too was scammed. Threatened me personally, by phone, when I refused to pay them after their "fix"
Went in, remotely, and disabled my computer. Had to have Geeksquad repair it. Total scam...and nasty !

Guy with an (what sounded like) Indian accent, said his name was "Stephen Williams" calling from "TechVizard.com" that they had recieved a message that my computer had a trojan called "csrss.exe" and he would guide me through the process of removing it. Beware--this is a total scam. There is nothing wrong with my computer and I have never seen the file on my computer. I have had a few viruses and trojans before, and everytime I have removed them myself. The man never said that he was representing any kind of computer or software company, only the aforementioned "TechVizard."
