An agway rep harassed me for over 2 weeks to sign with them all while lieing to me! I was told that they had competitive rates of 1/10 lower then my current supplier. I even questioned him if my rates would change and he flat out lied!!! Then I get my bill for $268.06 for one month!!! With a 0.9854 rate!! When my current provider had several different rates for the month no higher then 0.3741! What they are doing is illegal! They legally have to provide the lowest rate and they clearly have chosen not to!!! They are taking full advantage of not being regulated along with harassing calls and flat out lieing to gain customers!!! I currently have an almost $900 bill for 4 months! and have to pay close to $300 so my gas wont get shut off!!! Do you not think That is Injust?

if you are a legitimate company why was your employee by the end of the call saying "(expletive) you owe us money!!!!"

Agway persuaded me to switch energy supplier for Con Ed. A month later my bill went from $1500 to $2500. He said I would be saving $200-300 a month instead now I have to pay $1000 extra a month. Lying scamming b*****ds!

Could you, Mr. "Informed Consumer", explain how you came to Google this phone number and end up in this discussion forum? I suspect you have an interest in this business and you are just pretending to be an "informed consumer". If so, what you are doing is illegal.

The fact that making unsolicited calls and annoying people is your job doesn't make it any less reprehensible. I shall explain this in much greater detail if you are ever so foolish as to call me.

Have been getting calls from (718) 569-7903 almost daily for last one week. These guys try to sound to be helping us however, their tone doesn't sound the same. They don't understand when you tell them call later..they talk like a machine and keep asking to get the electricity bill and that they want us to pay lesser and not lose their exciting opportunity. They literally sound like scammers because they don't have any details as to who they are calling and would not keep the phone down until you literally tell them "keep the phone down, my time is more important than your saving me few dollars" but that doesn't mean they would stop calling you! They will keep calling & leaving 1800 number with extension for call back. Need to register with do not call for them.

Went through the whole sales pitch with the rep from agway. Don't understand how they scam u if they don't require ss# or credit card or acct. number. Sounded too good to be true so I didn't do it. I hear a lot of people saying its a scam but no one that actually got scammed by them! If someone can tell me how they scam me this way I'd appreciate it.

Have received 4 callsfrom 1-800-968-3504 left as voicemails in the last 2 weeks from Agway Energy Group "regarding my natural gas and electric accounts'.  I do not have accounts with them.   It's always the same woman , calling herself  Wilma Sipes or Stipes, sounding exactly the same each time which leads me to believe it's a recording.  I called back after the third call, was put on hold after I gave the 2131 extension, and then got a man who was trying to sell me the Agway plan. I requested to be removed from their calling list, he said something like 'well you folks voted to be able to chose your utility service'  I said again I'm not interested, he started the hard sell again, again I requested to be removed from their list and I hung up.  Just received the 4th call today, October 4, 2012, same old Wilma again. Even though they give an 800 number to call, the call originates from a different number, 1-718-569-7903.  So annoying!!!!!

Jeez, you people are insanely uninformed. Agway has been in business in the state of NY for 80+ years. They have over 1.5 million customers that they supply energy to, and they maintain an 85%+ cusomer retention rate for their energy supply services. The majority of people that leave Agway get switched to another supplier (unknowingly) or they leave that dreadful cesspool of a state known as NY.

Kinda sad that I know so much more about your state laws than you folks do.

I would be cautious about any telemarketing call, but not completely write them off. There are bad suppliers. Agway isn't one of them.

I have been receiving several calls within the past few months from Agway Energy despite the fact that I am not interested.  These calls are coming from 718-569-7903 and shows up on my Caller I.D. as "Unknown Name".  The caller insists that they can save me money on my utility bills.  If they are as true as they claim to be, why haven't I seen their ads or received literature in my mail?

These calls are a legit company. If you dont know what they are about have the person calling you fax something, ask for the web site and if your still not satisfied ask them to put you on the do not call list and they will do it. These people are doing a job.

Our Corporation received five calls from Agway Energy within the last two days.  People who answer the incoming calls immediately send them to a special extension set up for telemarketer calls.  The calls are coming in from 718-569-7903; the messages ask us to return the calls to 800-968-3504, Extension #2131.
Poor souls that have to take jobs like this!  Wish telemarketing/junk calls could be stopped!!

Getting several calls a day, do not answer

Voice message left on my answering machine with caller identifying herself as Tracy Fox who said she need to speak to me about my energy account.  Could hear other voices in the background.  Has to be scamming of some sort.  Obviously I don't intend to call back and deleted the message.  The number on the caller ID on my phone was 845-770-0051.

they are a telemarketing boiler room. They sell for many electricity and natural gas supplies thru the country so what does that tell about saving money on those commodities? If the suppliers are paying these lowlifes to sell their product then they have to pay them. Who pays the telemarketers salaries when all is said and done? We do when we pay our utility bills. Dont buy into deregulation. Its purpose is to make money for suppliers and telemarketers not to save us money. Look where the man who started deregulation is. Where he belongs.

I've had similar conversations with similar fools over the years, including this company (different name, same extension.) If they realized their only chance of talking to the "person in charge of decision making" was to talk to me first. Of course, this is a moot point, for anyone who starts the conversation by saying "I need to talk to..." as opposed to "want", clearly doesn't understand much.

This is a call center that pretends to be calling on behalf of your electrical or gas company. In this instance they were trying to get me to switch my electrical service. Very aggressive and rude. Called me back when I hung up on them. Insistent, even ridiculing if you disagree with them. In Arizona. Direct number 602 516 1061.

I received a call from "Ben Purncey" (ext. 3372) stating that he was from Agway Energy and that he wanted to speak with the person in charge of decision-making.  I told him that they were unavailable but that I could take a message.  Then he proceeded to ask for the name of the person he should be asking for when he calls again, to which I answered that I did not feel comfortable giving names to some one who had no idea who they were even calling.  He went on telling me that he didn't have a name in the database so I told him he could just talk to me, but he refused to because rather than telling him that I was authorized to make decisions, I told him that I would speak with the person who was authorized.  He was very clear that when he gave me his phone number, it was solely for the 'person in charge' to return his call.

Me again - I found a place to ask "The Energy Group" if they are the ones calling us. The web page is:

I suggest everyone who is being bothered by Agway Energy/The Energy Group send a note to these people.  Even if they are not the ones calling and harassing us, they will want to stop it from continuing and may have far better resources to get this activity to cease.

I have been receiving phone calls from a group identifying themselves as "Agway Energy" and leaving an 800 number for a call back. They make it sound like I owe them money. When I call back to inquire, I hear a recording saying they are "The Energy Group". This number is 800-968-3504 with an extension of 4494.  I have not yet spoken to anyone at this number, but I would like to know if this is some promotion that your company is expanding with?  I do not believe it is a legitimate concern and many postings are now appearing on the internet about the scam that seems to be building around "The Energy Group". I would appreciate a response from you as to whether your business is conducting this phone calling activity.

We got a call a week ago from "Agway Energy" leaving a message on the answering machine.  Calling back the 800 number says they are "The Energy Group".  The woman made it sound like we owed them money and since we had no accounts with them, I made no note of it and deleted it. I mostly thought they'd called the wrong number.  Today there is another message on the answering machine - same thing, different person.  What a bother! If what one of the other people says is true, they don't tell you to call back at the number they are calling from and you'd have to have caller ID to find out their base calling number.  From what I can hear on the recording in the background, there are a lot of people working in one room making calls so I'd say they were definitely a boiler room.  Our home number is already listed on the Do Not Call Registry, so this is probably scammed by telling you they are just calling to give you information or some other lame twist of speech.

As far as I can tell after doing a search for Agway Energy, it's a nationwide reference usually connected with local energy products, typically propane in rural areas, but also showing use as a business name for heating and ventilating contractors.  There appears to be something called PEOPLES NATURAL GAS COMPANY LLC  LOCAL GAS AGGREGATION POOLS that I found listed at http://www.peoples-gas.com/UserContent/UserFi ... ation_pools.pdf, from a wide variety of places, but no way of telling if that is where these annoyance calls originate from.

The Energy Group is an independently owned professional services firm specializing in a variety of energy and utility based services in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, South Dakota and Nebraska. They actually look legit, so possibly the calls are using their name and trying to scam with a legit sounding name.  They are located at http://www.theenergygroup.biz/.  I wonder if they'd be annoyed to find out someone was using their name in a scam operation.  I believe I will contact them and ask.

If these "Agway" jokers keep calling me, I'll catch them some day when I'm home and then the games will begin.  I will bait the scammers and take them for a ride. I've done it before.  It's quite empowering.

Just got my first call from Agway today. Caller left VM saying "I need you to call 1-800-968-3504 x3372" about my "energy accounts." Thanks to what I read here, I don't think I'll be making that call.

Received a call from "Corey Hauger" (ext. 3372) from 'Agway Energy' today. He said he wanted to speak to the person responsible for the electric bill. I told him I could get his number to that person, so he gave me his number and asked me who he should expect to call him back. I told him I wasn't sure, he'd find out if he got a call back. I thought this was all over back in March!!! UGH!!!

Same for me. I have been receiving repeated calls from this company for about 6-9 months now.  Always make it sound like I owe them money or something. Right now the call comes up from a (602) area code but they leave the 800 number as a call back. I finally got fed up and called the number back. But the girl who answered said I had the wrong number. I have reported them to do not call registry several times. It is definitely a bunch a of scammers.

SEVERAL calls from this number to our office, especially recently.  They identify themselves as Agway Energy and tell us that they are calling regarding more competitive pricing, something in relation to NYSEG Solutions.  I didn't think anything of it until this morning, a woman by the name of Erica Alday, who usually calls from this number on an almost daily basis, called again this afternoon and got rather nasty with me when I told her that I'd already spoken with her this morning.  I told her that 'the person in charge' would most likely not take her call so she added our number to the do-not-call list.
