We had the same call. The guy wanted to speak to my husband about how he liked his heath plan. I asked what health plan he was talking about and he said he couldn't give any info due to HIPAA laws.  I asked for a number for my husband to call him back and he said that he was at a number that was only for outgoing calls and no one could call him there.  He said he would call back.  Our heath care provider always identifies itself too.

I continuously get calls from 800-973-7470, I do not anwser but they hang up and do not give me the option of being taken off there calling list. I have tried calling several times. and I receive the same message.

Young man just called our business asking for a person who hasn't been here in over 10 years. I said there is no one here by that name he asked "for the most senior person available regarding your shipping practices".

Ughhh...survey. I asked who was calling and he would not tell me. What is wrong with this a**holes - you want all my information but can't tell me what you are calling about?  Telemarketer...so I gave him another fake name and told him they are out until mid-April.

The phone number on my caller ID came up 440-628-7616 (Cleveland, OH) but when you call that number you get a message saying you have called 800-973-7470 about participating in a survey. And they do NOT have to follow the 'do not call' list.  Really? Listen jerks, I have a right to tell ANY nuisance survey and telemarketer who calls me unannounced to stop instigating me and my business!

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY--REPEAT, ANY--INFORMATION.  Don't even say the word "yes", because they record, and can attach that as a consent.  They can get a lot of other info, and if there's someone else in the country with your name, the birth year can help them with identity theft.

How rude!  The call was of course at the dinner hour.  I attempted to call back to request a do not call but a lenghy message states they are a market research company that is exempt from the "do not call registry".

These (A***S) told me the were call to talk to Joseph Esposito who recently made a phone call to Pennlec my Electric Company in Reding Pennsylvania,well the business of Pennelec opens at 7AM and closes at 7PM 5 days a week,it was 20 minutes after 8PM Eastern Standard Time on November 20th 2012 and I knew then the man was a (BULL S****ING LIAR) ! The number had shown up on my caller ID as area code 814-732-0492 but when I called back the recording said it was a (Marketing Firm )online at phone number 1-800-973-7470 so that means ..............(THEY ARE LYING SACKS OF S*** AND TELL THEM TO GO GET F--KED)!

You might want to call him to express your concerns about his telemarketers calling you. Mr. Mordecai authored a blog on his website that addressed calling from 'local' numbers. Apparently the phone service his company uses will give them local number cover, so that they can appear to be a local caller - thus garnering better success in getting their calls answered. Very interesting tricks they use!

I'm really sick of these people calling. There's dead space on the other end when I do answer, for a good 10 seconds. I hang up. I call back but can't get a person. You can only take yourself OFF their call list by speaking to someone. They don't disclose the name of their marketing company on the message. They are calling me at 12:30 AM!! Their message says they are exempt from the national "No Call" list, but I can tell you there MUST be a law that says you can't call someone at12:30 AM if you don't personally KNOW them! Where do I file a formal complaint?

some telemarketer is getting paid for allegedly making calls and conducting interviews/surveys... their phone log must tell the boss that they called X number of "clients", but all they do is goof off... they hung up when i answered the second time.  a couple hours before, my wife answered and they hung up. if you call them back you get a recording saying that they are not subject to the "do not call" law because all they are merely conducting a marketing survey.

I called the number (on my caller id 1-828-919-9443) and they said it was this 1-800 # listed above and that they are a research group.  They said you can opt out from these calls by telling the interviewer but you never get a person.  I'm not here when they call so I guess I will never get the chance to tell them to get a real freaking job.  They also state since they are a research group, the do not call law doesn't apply to them.  I think that's b***s***.

If you are a Comast telephone user, you can block further calls by following these simple steps;

Lift your receiver and wait until you hear your dial tone. Press *60.


Follow the voice prompts to add the first phone number you want blocked. Include the area code and seven-digit number even if you are adding a local phone number.

Listen for confirmation that the number has been successfully added and move on to the next phone number until all the numbers you want blocked are entered.

If you decide that you no longer need this feature on your phone, it can easily be canceled by pressing *80 and pressing number 3 on your phone; this will cancel call screening on all numbers on your list.

You can also unblock individual numbers by dialing *60 and following the prompts to delete certain numbers from your call screening list.

Constantly get calls from 800-973-7470 or 847-973-7470, have asked to be taken off list but calls persist, very annoying.

Said they were "his health care provider" but couldn't give any info because of legal restrictions [obviously a lie].  My health care provider calls and cleary identifies itself both on caller-ID and voice.The caller-ID said "386-243-4583" a local number - but when you dial it, it is answered as Marketing Research 800-973-7470.  They claim to be exempt from DO NOT CALL LIST because they are marketing.  I believe that law requires (in Florida anyway) that they already have some business relationship to you.

I got a phone call from a man with a deep voice asking for me.  I said 'speaking'.  He then hung up.  When I look at my caller ID it said Nyack, NY 535-5688.  I called the number back and got a recording that said I reached 800-973-7470?????    I called again and it said the same.  This seems to be a telecommunications company!!!

Just received a call from this number, no name provided on caller ID.  When we answered no one on the other end would answer.  We tried calling back and got an automated message.

I am so glad that my only phone is a blackberry and i have an app on it called smartguard it allows me to add as many numbers as i want to a blacklist and then set my response to pickup and hang up . it dont even ring my phone when these idiots call.

I didn't pick up the phone until it rang a couple of time. When it did, I got dial tone. That number showed up in my Caller ID. I called it back and got a recording stating it's some kind of tele-survey outfit. In any event, I don't like unknown and unwelcome callers disrupting my quiet.

How to fix this:  Call (800) 678-3748 which is the switchboard to the Discovery Research Group.  Press 0 for the operator, and then be beligerent about how many times you've requested your phone number to be removed from their list.  Also say if the calls do not cease immediately, you will call your Senator and the FCC to place a complaint.  Should do the trick.

called for my just-graduated son saying they were Discovery Marketing inquiring about his recent healthcare issue. when I demanded to know how they would have such information, they replied that they were exempt from do-not-call AND any discussion of what they know about him. Calling the number back gets a lame recording. Filed complaint with FCC/Do-Not-Call anyhow.
