Carla -

getta clue's answer looks a bit ... strong ... but, in your case, it is probably correct.

Since the scammers accessed your computers, they probably did one or more of the following:
* disabled your anti-virus software
* added a lot of malware to your computer
* copied your Contact List (so they can email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
* copied any financial data or passwords they could find
* compromised your ID
* "zombied" your computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands
* deleted some important files

Now, what can you really do?
1. Pull the cables on all computers, so they no longer connect to the internet
2.  Change ALL your passwords
3.  Run FULL malware scans on the computers, in "SAFE" mode!
4.  Change the passwords again
5.  Contact your bank and credit card companies
6.  Sign up for credit monitoring, and check your status frequently
7.  Possibly bring your computers to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
8.  Tell your friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you
9.  Plug in your computers only AFTER all the above have been done
10.  Change the passwords on all your online accounts.

Remember, honest computer companies do NOT cold-call people to tell them their computers need fixing!

You were exposed to one of the scams described here, and show signs of being susceptible to others mentioned:

Remember to return here, to 800notes.com, after you look at any of the information at that site, either to post more information, or to let us know you avoided the scam or fixed your computers correctly.

Get off he internet and stay off until you grow up and/or understand what a scam is.

Disconnect your computers from the internet as well, they have been infected by criminals due to your ignorance.

Said that computer was full of malicious junk and in need of tune up.  had them work on 4 computers, they deleted my internet connection on one computer, don't think they fixed anything else. computers are running the same as they were. is there anything I can do to stop this?

I got the same call telling me that I was downloading malicious software and he was from windows tech support.  Asked if I did any online banking, purchases.  I could barely understand him.  Somebody needs to investigate him and put a stop to it.

Got a new phone number about a month ago, and the number of calls I have received because of the previous owner and their perhaps bad/perhaps uninformed choices is astounding. Scam calls have abounded, the number of calls received about new payday loans, time to pick up medications...it is beyond insane. I understand that some of this is to be expected for a period of time, but the fact this number called me so long after the fact is frustrating. I'm on the Do Not Call Registry (I know that doesn't necessarily do a whole lot, but I sure can report them!), and have been since I got the number. Since we're just past the 31-day window of when the Registry would take affect, I'm reporting this number based on all of the above!  So thank you all for reporting - it helps to minimize being subjected to all of these scams.

I got the same deal. It was for a browser cleaner at @29.99. It worked. The salesman tried to pressure me into a $239.99 deal to save my computer. Was told it might crash at anytime. Told him I had to wait til the 8th of Nov.  He said I could make payments. Their 'specialists' declined my credit. Darn!  I sure hate that for them.  I didn't answer the call-back.  Paratoligic browser site.

Man said he was from a browser cleaner site I ordered. The browser cleaner was legit, he put on a high pressure job to have me pay $239.99 to do more things that he said my computer might crash.

signed up for a computer fix and spent several hours on several days with them.  Nothing is better.  Called several times and was told they would call me back and never did. They installed 2 progams on m computer and one of them should have been free of charge.  I want my money back.
