I got one of those calls asking you to participate in a government survey.  If you completed the survey they would give you a 2 day Bahamas cruise.  Of course it was a scam.  It led to a high pressure sales for the Orlando Florida and Bahamas trip.  Took 5 hours out of my day.  Never again.  First time snookered, if I let it happen again, just shoot me!

That is what they said to me. I refused to pay it as I assumed it was a scam. I cannot prove it was because I never gave them my card number, but it seems fishy to me.

Yep guys I got the call twice...both missed calls one with partial msg not to me but I could hear people in the background..... I'm guessing congratulating some other poor soul(s) that they too have a won a cruise for two...you just need to pay the $118 upfront and what card would I like to use. I said I was not comfortable in giving up that information until I had some comfirmation of it being legit. He continued to talk and asked if I was near a computer..... I said yes... he then replied that I could pull the info to see the Ship and listen to the spill and reviews. The first thing I saw was RIP-OFF...2011Getaway.com  Report. He stated he was shocked he had never heard of that...I read him a few reviews. I was then told that must have been from somebody who misunderstood and thought the travel to Florida was included just miscommunication that is all. I laughed and asked if he was at a computer he should pull it up and read those reviews and others for himself. He continued on with his smooth talking....as I continued to read more negative feedbacks of this being a scam while he was still telling what a great deal this is.... he kept saying no that is the wrong website......did I not see the ship and it's amenities.....I chuckled to myself as he was not winning me over as I am a recent divorced female from one of the biggest smoozers of all time! Live and learn and I finally learned and now am happily divorced. lol. Free is Free this is not FREE if you are having to PAY taxes. One final note that I thought was interesting is he said you do not have to have a Passport....just id and your birth certificate....I said really because that has changed you must have passport he said oh reallly he was not aware of that and he was sure id and birth cetificate would be fine...... I asked for his name and he gave me Gary Viscilia. Times are hard these days but please choose a method of income that is honest....

I received a phone call last week asking me to complete a survey.  Since there were personal questions, I regrettably completed the survey.  Yesterday I received another phone call from a man who said "Get excited!  You've won two tickets from Caribbean Cruise Lines to the Bahamas!"  I asked him if it was a scam and he hung up on me.  Today I received a 3rd phone call.  This time it was a woman who tried to pressure me into paying port taxes right then and there.  I told her I don't just give out my credit card number to someone who can't prove they are who they say they are.  She told me I should feel sorry for myself for letting such a good deal pass and that I wouldn't be getting this opportunity again.  I told her that was fine and she could keep her cruise.  She then told me she would simply give it to the next person on her list.  My reply:  "Good.  Tell them I said it's a scam and don't do it."

This company runs a "legal" scam on a fixer-upper ship. You will get a cruise but you will be hassled by up-selling and will probably have to sit through half a day of timeshare seminars.  You will end up spending just as much money as if you had sailed on a more reputable liner. If you call and demand a refund or work through you credit card company you can get a refund.  You must not give up on the refund, because they will tell you there are not refunds, which is false.

I also received this call.  Said we won a cruise same as everyone else. Had to pay the 118.00 right then. They could not call me back or send me any information. And yes they were good and made it sound great. Told her how did I know they were not scams. She said they would be sued if they were using caribbean cruise lines logo. But I could call anyone and say I'm from Carribbean Cruise Lines and get their credit card number. Just didn't not feel right to me. They did not get my credit card number. Anyone demanding a credit card number right then and there seems little bad to me.

I have the same experience with this call from Telemarketer. They called me couple of times and somehow I decided to pick and  he started with "you won free cruise to Bahamas .........(he gave lot of details)........... you have to pay Tax of $118 to take the offer"...this can only be done while on phone. I asked what is their site.....he gave me "2011getaway.com". I googl'ed the number 888-996-5404 and found this site.
I asked if I can pay once I get confirmation in email and then I can select and pay there....he said "unfortunately the registration only works after paying the Tax". I did not go further and told him that I dont need it.
Did anyone ever receive any confirmation?

My story is the same with the cruise for 2.  All I had to do was pay $59 x 2 for departure taxes up front - no other costs.  I declined and they offered email and website to verify, but I had to be at a computer and check right then - that is, I couldn't check later tonight and then book.  Had to be done now. Really?!  Why not send me the tickets and let me pay the tax at the time of booking.  That kind of pressure screams red flag or a company I don't want to deal with even if legit.  I have to say though, the guy on the phone was good...

That is a good response to them!! ... I got the same call today, the guy asked me 3 times what credit card I wanted to use to pay $118 for the tax and I told him I am not giving anyone my info... He tried really hard to convince me (he was pretty good at it too) but I still didn't give in. I am pretty sure it was a scam!

It's Portfolio Recovery Services, a debt collection company that buys up old debts and hopes they can trick people into paying them. It's just a trick don't fall for it. Most likely you legally don't owe PRS anything.

I received 3 calls from this number in the last 3 days.  I didn't answer except for today and the lady said that she was carribean cruise lines.  I told her before she started her spill, i wasn't interested and to remove my number from their list and she said "ok, we'll just pass your cruise on to someone else."  My response to that was that is fine with me.  I have read many complaints and know this is a scam.  I have not signed up anywhere to win any type of cruise let alone anything else.  I wish these ppl would stop calling me.  Apparently it doesn't make any difference that I am on the do not call registry.  So aggravating!

I got a call today from this number too. They referenced I got selected from a ballot . I heard them out... basically, to earn a 2day and 1 night trip for 2 people for 2 nights in a hotel at  Bahamas cruise via Caribbean Cruise Line where you can visit the Grand Bahama Resort + 2 nights in Orlando + car rental (unlimited mileage only) + 2 for 1 airfare (this was an added incentive thrown in for me), I had to offer my credit card upfront and pay $59 for the port and departure tax + $398 (for 2 people), to then receive a package and/or website link where I'd be able to make/confirm all my bookings (within the next 18 months, except during Dec 24 - Jan 4). You are responsible for your own airfare.  They emailed me a Corporate Endorsed Certified Letter of Guarantee and sent me their website link 2011getaway.com, which had testimonials etc, however, I couldn't find any independent reviews from other websites while I was talking to them. She kept saying how Canadians are loved by them too, and that these promos are being offered due to recent economy issues and recession. I asked if I could call them back before paying/confirming, but they said I was selected through their one-notification-only system, which meant once I hung up it would dial another eligible person and I would not get the offer again. They do this process until it reaches their max quota for the promo offer (which I interpreted as sales).  In conclusion, I definitely signed up to receive this phone call promo offer, and I'm glad the call didn't arrive months later when I would've forgotten about it.  That said, I decided to decline and not take a chance on the offer; also told them to feel free to offer me any future promos with a future-dated expiry where I would be comfortable to review with family/friends and have time to make an informed decision. She said ok and quickly hung up.  I still haven't found any independent website reviews today after some quick searches... just websites like this after doing a search on the number they called me from: 800-996-5404.  It sounded legit, but, I wasn't comfortable forking out $600 upfront, which made me think it could've perhaps been a scam (or where I wasn't really saving THAT much more if I booked a trip on my own).

They are tottaly Fraud.
