I received a call too today from that same number. I am adding here other numbers of the same nature. So first I received a text from this number 878-787 to my cell phone telling me that I need to turn in the equipment back to comcast, the text also provides the following numbers to either call or text. to call for free return options: 866-994-5617 to text 385-202-0101
first thing I did was ask them to stop this service and I received an answer back saying that I no longer subscribed to program CELLTRUST on 878787. So I decided to text that phone number above. and I sure did and I sure got an answer. it was the same as everyone else here however the addition was that he was asking me to return the cable box to comcast which I never had in the first place. So I explained that and I also explained that I already discussed that with comcast before. In all cases he asked me to verify the serial number and MAC address to my modem??? of course I did not give away any information, instead I said you are saying that you provided this box to me so YOU need to provide me with a serial number and a model for that box you claim you gave me. He send me saying " tell you what I start you finish" the serial number/MAC ID comcast gave to me starts with "000F21E2" can you give me the last 4 digits?
So I think he was trying to access me wifi so please people be careful.
So at that point I knew this was a scam. I did not respond anymore. Then I received a call from Jamaica phone number 876-368-5174 I did not answer and they did not leave a message. Later on I got another call from 801-335-4527 Bountiful, UT again no message was left.
The reason I am writing those details is because I want to make sure no one falls for those scammers. Another thing here I strongly believe that this is related to comcast either someone works there or something, there is no way these people are doing this without access to Comcast and without communication.

I have not owned this number for very long yet as I just switched sometime in beginning-mid October yet I have received a total of 30 calls from this number (801)335-4527.
I have received 11 calls over the span of a 4 day period in October and so far this month, I've received 19 calls. They call up to 4 times a day, they call on weekends, including sundays and evening hours. I thought after 6 (or is it 8PM) they were breaking the law ? Or does this only apply to debt that is legitimately owed and not to others; even those posing to be debt collectors, claiming a legit. status?

WHAT GIVES?! I know many of you have said they claim to be some company collecting debt owed to Comcast, but to tell you the truth, I don't really GAF WHO it is, what i'd like to know is just how in the hell to get them to stop? Where should i report them, who should i contact? Or is it just overall easier to simply block their incoming calls?

Trying to get back Comcast equipment I already returned.  They asked for my personal info and I wouldn't give it--said I would take it up directly with my cable company.  He answered "That's fine 'my name'.  I didn't give him my name or anything else, so that makes me wonder how much personal info does Comcast give to this shady, rude company?

They've called me three times tonight. I've answered them twice before on other days, but I explained my situation without giving them any information. They didn't seem to offer ANY recourse except to call Comcast themselves and talk to them about it. They knew they weren't getting anywhere. I'm ignoring the number and going to Comcast tomorrow and ask them about it. I already have a support ticket out on it. [Complete Recovery] gave me a name (Zack) and a serial number for the device they are missing. They also gave me a reference number.

This is a scam.  This company has found a way into Comcast's system and based on the coy response I got from Comcast about it, its a real problem.  Yes they call early and yes its a scam although I must admit a pretty good one.  They tell you to return the equipment knowing full well that you can't return the equipment since you already did.  They're betting on the fact that you'll just send them some money since you probably didn't keep the receipt.

This must be some kind of catch all number for any group.  Called 3 times on Sept 15.  When called back recording said they are a "chat line" and wanted you to leave a recording to use for you profile.  Of course I did not!  Gave another number to call also 800-444-3000 which I am going to check on now.

I cancelled my Comcast service (because they have horrible customer service and they're expensive) a couple weeks ago.  I returned all the equipment via a pre-paid box they sent me a couple days later.  I've received several calls from this number over the past few days. I never answer anything I don't recognize, and they didn't leave me any messages.  I also just today received an email from Steven James from Complete Recovery saying three small digital boxes had not been received (I returned everything in one box, so there's no way they could have received everything but those).  Just to make sure, I contacted Comcast directly, and she told me that all equipment has been cleared off my account, I have no outstanding balance, and no outstanding equipment.  She did verify that they use various collection companies to collect for equipment, but she said they would never email me.  I would suggest anyone who gets these calls talk directly to Comcast to better understand their personal situation, before ever talking to Complete Recovery.

I've been getting it frequently and ignore it.  Glad I looked here.  I now question any 8xx number because many of them now are scams.  Some charge you if you answer.  I wonder if Enterprise knows they've been hacked.  I might just call them!

I get calls from this number fairly often. I ignore them just like I ignore any other number that I am not familiar with. What bothers me about it is that everyone claims that its a call from Comcast for equipment retrieval which may be why they are calling since I moved a few months ago, but when I look the number up it says that its Enterprise Car rentals from Bountiful, Utah. Are they spoofing the number? I wonder if Enterprise knows that they are doing this? Maybe somebody who works at Enterprise is doing a little bit of business on the side.... thats my guess.

Got a call from this number just now. I sent it to voicemail and I got a message with my full name asking me to call a different number with regards to Comcast equipment: 866-975-9885.

They identified themselves as Complete Recovery, and a Google search of that company leads me to this forum thread on Comcast's site:
http://forums.comcast.com/t5/Customer-Service ... VE/td-p/1222425

There was a point in time that I had to send back a cable box in exchange for one that works, so I guess this could be legit? I'd gladly call Comcast, but as it's a Sunday I'll have to wait until tomorrow. Lovely.

Received a call from this woman at 801-335-4527 saying that I didn't return Comcast equipment from a town I never lived in.  She claimed I was being sent to collections for this.  I called Comcast, they do NOT use outside collections for this type of thing.  This is obviously a SCAM.  My question is how do these guys get away with with this, and what can we do to solve this issue?!

Just received ANOTHER call from this number.  Answered & could hardly hear the woman - it's as if she was driving & talking on her cell.  She claimed to be from Comcast & said I had a cable box that I never returned.  I explained that I don't have one & she said her records indicated I do.  Explained that I've never had cable.  After a moment of silence, she said maybe it was an Internet modem.  I explained that I don't have Internet.  She wanted to confirm my address & I just said I don't have any of their equipment & I ended the call.  I am on the Do Not Call registry & I don't know how they obtained my full name, phone number (I have an unlisted number) & address.  Will be filing multiple complaints.

If we all do what you ask, we will all be put on a "Do Not Pay Any Attention To These Idiots" list by members of Congress.  And for good reason.

Here is what you can expect to happen if you file a complaint at http://www.donotcall.gov :

From the web page "National Do Not Call Registry" at
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0108-national-do-not-call-registry :

"What happens to my complaint?"
"Do not call complaints will be entered into the FTC?s Consumer Sentinel system, a secure online database available to more than 1,000 civil and criminal law enforcement agencies. While the FTC does not resolve individual consumer problems, your complaint will help us investigate the company and could lead to law enforcement action."

If you are not satisfied by that, one thing you might do is investigate whether your state also has a DNC registry.  Often state laws are less lenient towards telemarketers and state attorneys general are more eager to take up your cause in situations like this.  For example, see
http://ago.mo.gov/newsreleases/2013/Attorney_ ... is_No_Call_law/

If you follow the link to the Missouri Attorney General's office, you can see what resulted when he's sued other people and firms under that state's DNC laws, which I understand to have much more teeth in them than the federal law.

this # calls me at 8 am (while I am still sleeping).

it calls almost every day. There is no one on the line.
PLEASE comment via this post what you think of this idea - Since no-calls doesnt' work, maybe if each of us  starts sending an email to our congressional representatives EVERY time I get this kind of call. I'll say, " got an unsolicited call from this number today).  When are you going to stop these calls?" Maybe it could just be in the subject line, not in a message.  An actual phone call to their office wouldnt' hurt but too often that requires a paid for phone call.
If Congress receives enough of this kind of email maybe they will take action.
Each call has to result in an email to congress.

Received a call from this number yesterday & answered, but I hung up when I heard the prerecorded message.  Being on the do not call list, when I saw their number pop up again today, I chose not to answer.  Since the do not call list apparently doesn't help, I'm hoping the does not answer list will deter their calls.

I just received a call from 801-335-4527 on my cell. It showed as a Bountiful, Utah, number. The woman claimed there was an unpaid balance of $242 for unreturned equipment from Comcast. She gave me an address I have never lived at (in fact, never even lived in the city). I told her she had the wrong person. She started on about how this bill needed to be paid or it would impact on my credit report. I told her I did not owe this money, and the problem was on her end. I hung up. She was very smooth, and try to get additional information from me, such as what cable TV service I currently have. Of course, I told her nothing. I doubt I will hear from her again. I think she was going for easy money, hoping someone would drop a check in the mail.
