I have begun to receive MANY calls from a 1111 number...literally that is the phone number on the caller ID. I decided to answer it yesterday. It was, like some of you said, an Indian guy with a very thick accent. He was telling me I pre-qualified for some grant. What kind of grant would I like and for how much? He said any amount. That was red flag number one. I asked again what agency he was from. I dont remember it now but I have never heard of it and since I am low income I am very familiar with most agencies that give aid. Then he asked me why I was skeptical. He reassured me I had nothing to worry about. My phone actually died when we were talking. He called back today from an number with my local area code. I answered and when I realized it was him (and I had frozen groceries in my car) I hung up. He called back 4 times in a row from an unknown number..and again later in the day. 5 Times yesterday he called form the 111 number, 6 times from the unknown and I have received but ignored a few calls like three with my local area code. This guy is defiantly a scam. He was trying to get me to pay shipping and handling for paperwork.

They may have added another number or numbers but 8014441111 is still abusing !!!
associated numbers 8572339435 as well as 9175806827 and 4808925113
if the number can actually be traced they refuse to give out any info unless
they get yours first!!! Either bill collectors or scam artists for certain!!!
One way or the other they seem like real (please excuse the expression) jerks!!!

Anyone who submits their info for grant information to Matthew Lesko gets their info sold.

I have been receiving numerous calls for the past few weeks from this number. When I answer noone speaks and then they immediately hang up. This happens at least six times a day. I have attempted to call the number back and a recording states the number is no longer in service. This is the most annoying and invasive thing ! I would like very much for this to stop.

?Free Government Grants?: Don?t Take Them For Grant-ed
?Because you pay your income taxes on time, you have been awarded a free $12,500 government grant! To get your grant, simply give us your checking account information, and we will direct-deposit the grant into your bank account!?
Sometimes, it?s an ad that claims you will qualify to receive a ?free grant? to pay for education costs, home repairs, home business expenses, or unpaid bills. Other times, it?s a phone call supposedly from a ?government? agency or some other organization with an official sounding name. In either case, the claim is the same: your application for a grant is guaranteed to be accepted, and you?ll never have to pay the money back.
Don?t give out your bank account information to anyone you don?t know. Scammers pressure people to divulge their bank account information so that they can steal the money in the account. Always keep your bank account information confidential. Don?t share it unless you are familiar with the company and know why the information is necessary.
Don?t pay any money for a ?free? government grant. If you have to pay money to claim a ?free? government grant, it isn?t really free. A real government agency won?t ask you to pay a processing fee for a grant that you have already been awarded ? or to pay for a list of grant-making institutions. The names of agencies and foundations that award grants are available for free at any public library or on the Internet. The only official access point for all federal grant-making agencies is www.grants.gov.
Look-alikes aren?t the real thing. Just because the caller says he?s from the ?Federal Grants Administration? doesn?t mean that he is. There is no such government agency. Take a moment to check the blue pages in your telephone directory to bear out your hunch ? or not.
Phone numbers can deceive. Some con artists use Internet technology to disguise their area code in caller ID systems. Although it may look like they?re calling from Washington, DC, they could be calling from anywhere in the world.

I thought it was illegal to call every 2 minutes...guess not. Someone said to answer FBI and I did and the calls have stopped momentarily

Actually, not answering is just as encouraging to them as answering. I discovered this after the first two weeks of calls. I never answered once, yet still got about ten calls from this number per day. I was always too busy at work to answer, but I noticed the calls would start around 9:30 and continue until 9pm. I finally answered after two weeks of this number calling relentlessly and I heard an automated, "Goodbye." Really? They fought that long and hard to reach me and all they could say was goodbye? But don't worry. The calls are still coming. I answered one this morning and the Indian man told me that the government has a grant waiting for me!! Oh happy day! I'm sure it does :P
So anyway, I very politely applauded him for his dedication to such an obvious scam and offered him my credit card number, to which he hung up. People just don't appreciate sarcasm anymore.

Doubt that's the real address, sounds like they're calling somewhere far from the USA. Sounds like they're in a cave on some of the calls. Just a number they using that traces to a USA address.

Getting calls also. Called the atty general's office who told me I can make a complaint on line. The address I have for this caller, and, name(s): Patricia & Ralph Jones; N 600 W; Kaysville, UT 84037. Wonder if these people are the scammers, or, if these people are being scammed as well? I found it on the internet.

I have been receiving phone calls from this 801-444-1111. This started on July 5, 2012. Approximately four to five a day. I asked why the number comes back as a disconnected number and they say it is because it is a government number and is why it says it is no longer in service. The callers have foreign accents and suprisingly good english. They are trying to sign me up for grant money. I will ask if they sent me material on this and usually after me asking a couple questions they will hang up.

We need a lady to be nice to the caller and let the dummy give his location, all I want is his dialing finger the rest we can throw in jail, i'll mail it back to him in little pieces for all the disturbing calls matter of fact I want all his fingers that way he'll have to get very large buttons on a phone to even consider tellemarketing again.
| IshaKing 2012-07-05 19:08:40 Unknown |
I just started getting the calls this morning and they haven't stopped all day time to block the number.
