this guy now goes under the name of Andrew Luzincourt and advertises on craigslist with the email thecordovas@nokiamail.com.
He will send you fake screenshot of mileage (generated with Firefox extension) and a fake passport copy. His wife goes under the name of ISSA SAKHEL-LUZINCOURT

Oh my god he has a huge imagination and working as a gold bullion trader in New York City blablabla! It's funny.

Here's my whole email string. Read from the bottom up if you want it in chronological order. He's all over backpage.com. Posting in ten cities simultaneously. Clearly a scam. Thanks for this thread. I didn't bite.

Todd,

Booking one ticket at a time is fine with me.

If you decide to move forward, payment is by Moneygram. Please follow the instructions (below) carefully. I will book your tickets within 24 hours after you send payment.

1. Go to Moneygram's branch locator:

www.moneygram.com/locations

2. On the website, choose United States as country, then Illinois as state (your 312 area code leads me to assume you live in the Chicago area). Next, type Chicago for city or your zip code, select "Send Money" from the options shown on the right, then click on the red-colored "Find a location" link. You should see a list of locations offering Moneygram in your area.

3. Scroll down to view the results. Call any of the locations listed and ask if they send money internationally.

4. At the branch, ask the staff for a Moneygram form for sending money. There are two kinds of forms, one for sending and another for receiving funds.

5. On the form, write my wife's details as it exactly appears on the screen shot attached to this email. Here is the information you will need:

Receiver's first name: ALIKA
Middle name: none (leave this blank please)
Last name: FELZINGER
Destination of transfer (city) : Irkutsk
Destination of transfer (country) : Russian Federation

Please make sure that you correctly spell my wife's name on the Moneygram form. (as per spelling shown on the attached screen shot of her United Airlines account)

No other details are required. The Moneygram form is a simple one-page form. Sign the form and return it to the Moneygram staff. You might be required to show identification so please bring your driver license or any state-issued ID with you. You should be finished and ready to leave the location within minutes.

After sending payment, please email me a clear scan or photo of the Moneygram receipt.

When you send me the payment information, include the following information:

1. The names of both passengers as they exactly appear on both of your ID. Names on tickets and on state-issued ID must match exactly.
2. A phone number of either passenger (required by airline for their booking records). Should I use the 312 or 773 number shown on your first email?
3. Confirm again please that these dates are definite: 1/30/13 through 2/7/13. After I book the tickets and if you need these dates changed, you can request the change yourself.

Please, briefly, give me an explanation of how you'd like payment and how it will be a safe transaction for both of us.
Thanks,
Todd

-- response follows --

Todd:

Thanks for your email.

On the issue of assurances and a safe transaction environment, the internet is, as we all know, a platform where risks are generally considered an accepted element of any transaction, regardless of whether you are buying or selling anything. If you want to avoid the airline's steep fares, then miles are the answer but this also entails taking a leap of faith.

Assurance I can provide: Attached to this email are screen shots of my wife's United account and my AA account. As you can see, we have more than enough miles to book your tickets and deliver what you pay for.

Further assurance: I can offer an arrangement where you pay half first. I will then book the tickets and you can confirm and validate them with the airline. Once confirmed, I expect the balance to follow within 3 days after you receive the tickets.

Selling rate is $7 for each block of 1,000 miles. I absorb taxes and fees (included in the cost of miles). This means you should expect to pay 120 x $7 = $840 for the 120K miles you need for your trip to Hawaii.

Terms of sale are :

1. No payment, no miles. I strictly do not sell miles on credit or any kind of payment-to-follow arrangement.

2. I do not accept payment by Paypal. I used to take Paypal payments only but they closed my account in May after they found out the payments were for airline miles. Paying for miles is against Paypal's terms of service.

3. Given that my wife and I are based in Europe I can accept payment by Moneygram. I will email you payment instructions when you are ready to buy. I know this is conventionally not considered a safe method but there comes a time in life when we have to take risks to learn important life lessons along the way.

4. I do not sell to difficult and complicated buyers.

5. Miles are for sale first come first served. I cannot reserve unpaid miles. If you can't afford to pay for the miles now, I cannot promise I will still have enough miles left when you have the funds later. This is because I get emails from other people asking about these miles. I cannot decline them by relying on your promise to buy at a later time. I can only reserve paid miles.

If you decide to buy, I will email you payment instructions.

The amount to pay will be higher if you decide instead to buy miles for business class tickets.

Regards,
Anthony

Ok - so Anthony kept sending me numerous emails wanting me to follow up and buy the miles I had discussed, saying he has had other customers and could not hold mine.
I emailed him back ( thewynnfamily@ovi.com)  saying I was on to him, and so were a whole bunch of other folks.
As anticipated, no response.
I then checked craigslist, and all of the ads are gone.

First email:

Thanks for your email. Where do you want to fly?

Selling rate is $7 for every 1,000 miles. For example, if you need 50,000 miles, then you pay: 50,000 / 1000 = 50 x $7 = $350.

My wife still has miles available. I sold all my Emirates miles. Attached to this email is a screen shot of my wife's account.

If you are in the U.S., I can accept payment by Moneygram. I will email you payment instructions when you are ready to buy.

Thanks.

Second email:
Please check and re-read my first email. The guarantee was attached to that email, clearly showing my wife has the miles to book your tickets. Additionally, i only need 30 percent deposit. You pay the balance after you receive and confirm the tickets.

Still in doubt? Buy the miles elsewhere or buy your tickets directly from the airline. I do not sell to difficult or complicated buyers. You can't have the best of everything served on a silver platter. Buying cheap tickets via someone else's miles is a good thing but comes with compromises agreeable to both buyer and seller.

Unfortunately, he got me.  $2500 gone.  I am an idiot.  I soooo wish I would have seen this website before I sent the money.  He went by Alex Senko this time...wife is Anastaysia.  His email address this time was alex@bandaragroup.com  He is still emailing me waiting for the other half of my payment.  I wish I could get police involved.  FBI blew me off and said report it to IC3.  Not sure if it will help.  I also reported him to western union.  The phone number he gave me was Delaware and is now disconnected.

I sincerely hope this helps others.  My wife and I were buying the miles to fly to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific to pick up a baby girl we are adopting from China in October.  Makes me sad that I let this happen...delaying the trip.  The lord is good though and he will provide.  This guy will have to answer for his crimes someday.  If anyone needs me to join in to catch this guy, let me know.  I will provide all information I have.

I'm pretty certain the same person is now posting under the name Steven Menshikova (stevenmenshikova@gmail.com). This is the advert that appeared on Singapore Craiglist:

SQ miles for sale - SGD7
Date: 2012-06-20, 11:56AM SGT
Reply to: see below [Errors when replying to ads?]
Need to fly but on a tight budget? My wife and I have Singapore Airlines (Krisflyer) miles after working for several years for Brunei Shell Petroleum in, of course, Brunei. I was a rig engineer for BSP up until 2010 when my contract lapsed. Thereafter I joined a petroleum company in Europe and rarely fly to Asia these days.

If you would be interested in using these miles, the price is $7 for every 1000 miles. My wife has nearly 400K miles on her account. I have 94K left as I already sold most of mine.

To calculate the miles you will need, here is the mileage calculator :

http://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/ppsclub-krisflyer/mileage-calculator/

If, for example, you need 50,000 miles, then expect to pay 50 x $7 = $350.

A screen shot of her account is shown next to this ad.

Email me if you need miles for your next trip: brndwallace@gmail.com

Seller's location: Russia
Seller based in Russia until Feb 2013.

I received the following reply from Steven Menshikova (stevenmenshikova@gmail.com):

Thank you for your email. Only my wife's miles are available. I sold all my miles.

1. The majority of my wife's Singapore Airlines miles are valid until September 2013. The rest will expire in 2015.

2. If you buy, you can expect costs calculated as follows:

Less than 150,000 miles: $7 for every 1,000 miles
More than 150,000 miles: $5 for every 1,000 miles
   Costs are quoted in USD

3. Confirmation of availability of miles is attached to this email. I strictly enforce my no-payment no-ticket policy, regardless of how many miles are needed by a buyer. I am not flexible and will neither transact nor book in the absence of cleared payment.

I booked two one-way business class tickets for PVG-MEL with my miles in December last year and the buyer had concerns which I addressed by booking the tickets first. No payment followed and I lost not only the miles but also the taxes which were charged to my credit card. After this incident, rules followed and here they are:

No payment = no ticket. This is non-negotiable. If you need some form of assurance, a screen shot of my wife's Krisflyer account is attached to this email, crystal clearly evidencing availability of miles.
I do not accept payment by Paypal. They repeatedly sent me warning emails as payments meant for airline miles are apparently a violation of Paypal's terms and conditions. They reversed two such payments and I was unable to recover them. I can accept Moneygram. I will email you payment instructions when you are ready to buy.
I do not sell to difficult-to-deal-with buyers.
Miles are for sale on first-come first-served terms. I do not reserve miles based on a vague promise to buy them later.

In addition to my wife's miles, I also have Emirates miles. If you fly regularly, these miles are for sale too. A screen shot of my account is attached to this email.

If you need to calculate miles, here is the mileage calculator:

http://www.singaporeair.com/travelplanner.form

Steven

What or where is the coincidence? Read the ad again. My wife and I USED (past tense) to work and live in Brunei (for Brunei Shell Petroleum). We are not in Brunei anymore. At present, we live and work in Europe.

Attached to this email is a screen shot of my wife's Krisflyer mileage balance. I sold all my miles. Only those miles on my wife's account are still available.

And yes, your calculations are correct. Total cost comes to $178.50.

Terms:

These miles are for sale with strict conditions and these are:

1) No payment = no miles. I enforce this strictly after another buyer convinced me to book two business class tickets without prepayment and later ignored my repeated requests for payment. No exceptions to my prepayment requirement. Not happy with this? Buy your tickets elsewhere.

2) These miles are for sale on first-come first-served terms. If, for example, you want to buy but decide to delay the purchase or payment for a week or longer, I cannot promise that I will still have miles by then. This is because other buyers also want miles and some of them choose to pay immediately. Those who pay immediately can use the miles immediately. It's that simple.

3) My terms may seem rude to some buyers but I must be upfront and direct in the way I formulate and enforce my terms, foremost of which is this: I do not sell miles to paranoid, difficult and complicated people. I am not flexible. I have a busy work schedule and will not transact with time wasters.

Payment: I can accept Moneygram as payment method. I cannot accept other payment methods due to my bank's restrictions on inward bank transfers. I will email you payment instructions when you are ready to buy the miles. My ad crystal clearly mentions my terms and my location: Europe.

Moneygram is offered island-wide in Singapore. For a small amount like $178.50 I expect to transact only if there are no headaches or hassles involved.

Regards
Viktor

Need to fly to Asia but on a tight budget?

My wife and I used to work for Brunei Shell Petroleum (in, of course, Brunei) but have since moved back to Europe. If anyone needs to fly with SIA or any other Star Alliance-member airline, we have enough unredeemed miles on our Krisflyer account. Miles can be used for SIA and Silk Air flights and those operated by partner carrier (shown on staralliance.com).

Selling for $7 (USD) per 1000 miles. If, for example, you need 40K miles, then those miles will cost you 40 x $7 = $280 in USD. To calculate miles you will need for a ticket, use the mileage calculator on this site:

http://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/ppsclub-krisflyer/mileage-calculator/

If interested, email me: masko76@ovi.com

Time wasters and paranoid buyers not welcome to buy. Please do not respond with ridiculous requests such as payment in monthly installments or fly-first pay-later arrangements. I am not a bank. I do not "loan" miles or arrange payment in increments or installments.

Strict terms apply: no payment - no ticket. (to clarify: if I do not receive payment, I will not book). I will not sell to paranoid or difficult buyers. (neither will I entertain offers from or sell to those who show an arrogant sense of entitlement or who insist they are entitled by right to buy my miles!) When you buy my miles, you are notdoing me a favor. It's the other way around: I am doing you a favor by helping you avoid the airline's steep ticket prices! I do not sell to Paypal-obsessed or Paypal-fixated buyers.

Seller's location: Europe

Don't waste your and my time: I will not book without prepayment and will ignore stories or drama worthy of an Oscar or Grammy. I have heard them all--- "I need to fly tomorrow, can you book ASAP and I will pay next month!"... "I regularly buy miles but I need the ticket first. Payment will follow." ... "I'm a single mom raising 7 kids on social security benefits and looking for somone to donate 100,000 miles so we can all go to Disneyland." etc etc

*** Added by seller: The emails I will ignore are SMS-style emails such as those that only say "call me" or "still have miles?" and leave me guessing what in the world am I supposed to call about! If you (seriously) need to buy miles to fly somewhere, respond to my ad with your travel details and your contact details. Responses to this ad without contact details will be ignored.

If you have firm travel dates, you can arrange payment and I will book within 24 hours after we receive that payment. (7 to 10 business days if paying by bank transfer)

My wife and I are very frequent flyers and the screen shots attached to this email clearly prove that. Read the ad again: I do not sell without prepayment. You can either pay by bank transfer (telegraphic transfer) or, if you need the ticket(s) booked asap, by Western Union. I am aware that Western Union's money transfer service is often used by people with dishonest intentions but there's nothing I can do about that trend. Western Union has been around for decades and people effectively rely on their money transfer services to this very day.

Western Union may be unsafe but that's if you are not provided with the assurance of what you are getting. I provided clear evidence of our mileage balances. The company has been around for over a hundred years. Dishonest people may have been using their services for fraudulent activities but look, they (Western Union) are still around. Why? They're there to move money from A to B.

If you decide not to buy after reading my terms, I understand, in which case all I can say is thanks for your interest in our miles and best of luck in finding a decently-priced ticket."

Thanks. I assure you that you will not be disappointed. The miles were accrued from flights which were ticketed by the company I work for. They don't enforce any prohibition in terms of staff selling or trading any staff incentives such as miles but the airline does-- which could backfire on me if anything goes wrong. This "if-anything-goes-wrong" scenario would be my worst nightmare. Such a scenario could be something like total account blockage and inclusion in the airline's no-fly list or passenger ban list. My employer (Gazprom) tickets all staff travel via a corporate account with the airline. I would be in a very difficult position if I should try to explain to my superiors why they have to make an exception and book me a flight on a Star Alliance carrier instead.

Consider this-- one buyer (in November last year) asked me to book and paid by check. After the ticket was issued he had the check stopped. He ignored all my emails. Then I left a message on his voicemail, informing him that I would contact the airline to have the miles reinstated to my account, he emailed me to say he would forward to the airline all evidence of the transaction and copies of the emails--- and a copy of the check too (come to think of that!). That put me in a dilemma--- should I let him and his co-pax fly first class Miami to Seattle at no cost and write off the loss or should I cancel his tickets but risk putting my account in jeopardy? I risked losing the balance of 410k miles so I let it be.

Since then, my wife has taken control of the finances (notice the Western Union recipient details?) and the decision-making. I do need to receive cleared funds in full or at least partially. Risk is part and parcel of this kind of transaction. Risk is everywhere. In fact, it's what being alive is all about. If you want to avoid the airline's sky-high rates for first and business class, you simply will need to take a leap of faith here and cross your fingers that all will go well. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. Consider this a course in Risk Management 101. If you don't get any ticket, well you paid for the course just like any other college course. If you do get the ticket, it's a reward for taking that leap of faith and I'm sure you will have learned that not everything you read on the internet is a horror story. Good guys exist. Bad guys too but they keep the market in balance. Wouldn't you agree?

$1200 bucks. Keen on playing russian roulette?

At the branch, inform the staff that you need to send funds internationally by Western Union. They will provide a "send-money" form for you to complete. You might be asked for identification so please bring your Hong Kong identity card (if you have one) or your U.S. passport with you.

Complete the form. Where you see "receiver" on the form, write my wife's details:

First name : ANASTASIYA OLEGOVNA
Middle name: none (leave this blank)
Last name : BESCHASTNYH
Destination (city) : Irkutsk
Destination (country) : Russian Federation (or just Russia)

Mind the spelling. It is important to spell my wife's name correctly on the form before handing it over to the Western Union staff for processing. There is no middle names so the middle name field should be left blank. I can't stress enough how important the spelling issue is. I sold miles to a buyer in Australia and he lives 60 miles from downtown Darwin. He misspelled the name by two letters and my wife could not collect the funds so he had to drive all the way back to correct the error!

After payment has been processed, you will receive a Western Union receipt. Please inspect the receipt for any spelling errors before leaving the Western Union location, then email me the following details shown on that receipt:

1) The name of the person who sent the Western Union payment (the name shown as "sender" on the Western Union payment receipt) and

2) The exact amount to be collected as shown on the receipt. Advise the Western Union staff that you want to send USD 880 + USD 374 = $1,254. The location will charge a service fee so be prepared for that one too (about $30 to $35).

3) The MTCN (also shown on the receipt) and

4) The location or address of the Western Union branch.

Please send me a clear picture or a scanned copy of the Western Union receipt as an email attachment. This is also important.

And finally, please email me your full name as it exactly appears on your passport. Please clearly mention your first and last names.

Do you need to fly somewhere but on a tight budget?

American Airlines miles for sale. My wife and I travel very often, mostly on business trips. We both work in Europe but regularly travel to and from the U.S. where we live permanently.

These miles are for sale at $7 for every 1000 miles.

Will not sell to complicated or difficult buyers.

To calculate miles for your trip, go to aa.com and make sure you select the small box marked "Redeem AAdvantage Miles" before clicking on the red "Find Flights" button.

Miles are good for travel with American Airlines and all airlines shown on oneworld.com

I also have United Airlines miles (see screen shot of my account balance next to this ad)

To buy miles, email me: masko76@ovi.com

Strict terms apply: no payment - no ticket. (i.e. if miles and taxes are not paid and settled, we will not book). I will not sell to paranoid or difficult buyers. (neither will I entertain offers from or sell to those who question my terms as if they are entitled by right to buying my miles in the first place!) I earned these miles so I can do with them whatever I want.

Seller's location: Europe

Some people who respond to my ad have literacy issues, insisting on meeting up at Starbucks, a local mall, a restaurant, etc. ELEMENTARY GEOGRAPHY: "Seller's location: Europe" means the seller is not in the U.S.! The ad is in the U.S.! Before responding to my ad, read it completely (not just the title).

New post from them in Seoul Craigslist
Singapore Airlines miles for sale
Lonk for their post: http://seoul.craigslist.co.kr/for/2922782168.html

The actual cost of the ticket is calculated as follows: cost of miles + taxes.

To buy miles, please email us: alexkonovalova@aol.com

Please be aware that most airlines operate capacity controls and restrictions on the number of mileage award seats available on certain routes. This is especially the case in high traffic and popular routes or where seasonal restrictions are in force.

In any case, contact me first so I can assess requirements and availability on your contemplated travel date(s).

Will definitely not sell miles to difficult or complicated buyers.

Time wasters and paranoid buyers not welcome. Please do not respond with ridiculous requests such as payment in monthly installments or fly-first pay-later arrangements. I am not a bank. I do not "loan" miles and arrange payment in increments or installments.
