Legitimate call from eBay. A seller was charging exorbinant S/H. I called to Cancel my bid eBay called back. Sadly, the eBay rep was not a native English speaker. Very difficult to understand her.
I can confirm that this IS EBAY and it is not a fraud. They did not ask me for any personal information . They wanted to tell me that I am on track to be a top Rated Plus seller under the new standards that are happening in Spring and taking effect on August 20th. That makes sense since I recently got an e-mail about this. His name was Justin and he told me to go to ebay.com/spring14 for more information. Which I did and it is currently up. He did ask me to schedule a 15 minute phone consultation because they want to explain how to get discounts and minimize the fees that I am charged. The guy did have the typical telemarketer/ sales person tone to his voice, but he wasn't trying to sell anything. He may get scored on how many consultations he schedules, but that's fine. I do business on ebay which makes this call perfectly acceptable.
I keep getting calls from "JEFF" saying that he is trying to get money that is owed to me.
Now He is calling that he is looking for a Girlfriend!
Ever Heard of "Spoofing"?
This number could have been spoofed. So your post settles NOTHING!
YOU KNOW-IT-ALL's who say it is a scam: GET THIS! I called eBay using their "CONTACT US" and "CALL ME" selections under MY ACCOUNT, and they called me and this is the number that showed up. THAT SETTLES IT. IT's EBAY!
i just made up this name
Of course 801-545-1800 is legit. I can make that up. I can say that under 20 made-up names. But who would EVER come HERE to report that a number is legit??? (What a lame site. It attracts so many liars who try to fool people. How can it have any value??)
Of course 801-545-1800 is fraud. (I can make that up too, so a legit number might get labeled fraud.)
Even if some legit calls come from this number, other calls "from" this number could be spoofed.
Suspicious no matter what.
This number is definitely from eBay. I was talking with a representative and we got disconnected so she called me back and, because I didn't know whose number it was, I didn't answer. She left a voicemail explaining what had happened. So there you have it
Actually it is a legit ebay number. I spoke with ebay today and they were to call me back. I missed their call back and it came from this number - (801) 545-1800
I just received a phone call from this number and did not answer it as I didn't know the number. I live in Australia why would eBay US ring me in australia instead of eBay Australia ringing me. Seems a bit dodgey to me.
This number is legit, I was speaking with eBay and got disconnected and they called me back with this number.
As the person mention its the outgoing number of eBay
NOT AN EBAY MEMBER OR CUSTOMER
I think this number to be a scam because my name is not John (which is whom they left the message for), they called me 3 times in one hour, they called me on two separate lines in that hour, one being my Virginia based cell phone and the other being my Minnesota based Google voice number, and when I called the number back it says something like, "this is A&E marketing..." and then gets cut off. They also only left one voice mail out of the 3 phone calls. Oh, and did I mention, I am not nor have ever been an eBay customer or member. I'm not a power seller as the voice mail implies. I also don't associate my cell with my Google voice account, nor have I ever used my Google voice account to sign up for anything. This may be eBay's number, but someone is ghosting it to scam people.
I just got the call from 1 (801) 545-1800 and did not answer. They appeared to leave message but apparently listened to my message then were just slow to hang up, as no message.
I am concerned as I have been buying and corresponding w Ebay and ebay sellers a lot just the past week, and concerned my activities have been hacked?
I recieved 2 calls from this # today and this is definitely eBay customer support. We had a disconnect and they phoned me back to answer a question that I had.
Just got a call from this number; did not answer and the caller did not leave a voice message. I don't know why, if it is Ebay, they would call me - - I am NOT a seller. Ironically, I just bought something from an Ebay seller and just a few days later I get a call from this number??? And if it was, indeed, Ebay why not leave a message? I see from checking on 800 Notes you all seem to be split on whether it's a SCAM or a legit call. For now, I'll just wait to see if they call again and, if so, will they leave a message. Honestly don't know what to think.
AGREED! They absolutely do. Just because you've never sold enough to be called doesn't mean they don't call other people.
That's not true I've been selling in eBay for over twenty years and they started calling me about every four months after I became a power seller. They will NEVER ask for personal information or even your user id but they will tell you all this crap about making more money tips to saving on listing fees etc.
Why does this exact message complete with misspellings appear over and over under different names and dates? Just curious Frank, Daria, etc.
Caller ID can be made to say anything. If I made my caller ID say "The White House", would you come on this forum and tell everyone 'This is the number for the White House, it's legit'. No. As always - NEVER give out personal information on a call you did not make, from a number you verified. NEVER call back a number given to you in a voice mail, email, or text, until you check it out. This back & forth 'real/not real' does no good. Look - it - up!
IDIOT. It is an eBay number. Report all you want. Don't you have anything better to do with your life than report legit numbers.
This IS from eBay. Just got a scheduled call from a selling assistant to discuss the upcoming changes to seller ratings. There were people talking in the background so I assume this is an eBay customer service center. For the guy up above saying they wouldn't call at 10 p.m. When it's 10 p.m. on the East Coast it's only 8 p.m. there. DAAAAAHHHHH. Of course they would still be open. eBay has customers all over the world.
They gave some great recommendations to reduce my fees.
So again, this is a LEGIT number for the eBay customer service center.
Received a call from this number today stated that were removing my ebay top rated seller status from my ebay account ...So i called ebay they said they had not called looked thru my records said no one called me and my top rated seller account status have not been changed. Sounds like some type of scam...
Wrong, it IS eBay. I've been a powerseller for 5 years and selling for over 15 years and every so often they call to help boost sales, etc.
They called me also but I didn't pick up just saying I got called also
it's a legit ebay number
This is eBay. I work there. We do call at 10:00pm, if requested by a customer. 100% legit. It's funny how paranoid people can be.
It was definitely ebay customer service. I had inquired about helping my customer request an invoice for combined shipping with her shopping cart. The customer service rep was just calling back to make sure that everything worked out okay. I recognized her voice from talking to her last week. So that is definitely a legitimate Ebay customer service number.
I just called e bay, and they stated no no how is it them. Beware
another Frank's wife
wow these are entertaining..now off the caffeine people..eek are you all really this angry and paranoid in real life!
