Never ever give out any personal information to someone claiming your mortgage was bought out by them. If your mortgage is sold to another institution your bank will alert you with the company and the date it takes effect. These are stupid, lazy people trying to make a fast buck on us. Hang up, and never give any information. If they ask you are whatever name say NO and hang up fast.

Fortunately, they are SPS. You scared me and I had to make sure.

 Scammer caller.  They are trying to get money out of you.  They know some of your info..  Someone is trying to make extra cash on the side.  Disregard the call.  They try to act like they are part of Select Portfolio Services but never identify themselves.  If you need to call someone make sure it is a legitimate number so you don't get scammed.

i just want to know what to do about them; reminding you of your payment is one thing but calling you 4-6 times in a day to 4-6 days aweek is another thing.. there has to be away to put a stop to them..

yes but NOT to harrass you - i recv calls from the the day before the day of and the following days at least 4 days out of te week, some leave a message some ive spoken with and they still call, most justcall and not say anything ive recvd several from this number and ive already paid my mortgage - so YES! this is harassment, especially when they are aware of your situations and hardship on why ur late...

If your mortgage was sold to SPS . Then it seems you are like me got what they call a "sub-prime" loan. Ours was due to having a low credit score.
Anyways , SPS is the new owner of your mortgage. I've not had any issues with them. Other than I am late on my mortgage. I'm just like most out there , struggling these days.
They have a right to call if 1. You are late. 2. the # you have now belonged to someone else and they had an acc. with them. If #2 is the issue try blocking them , sending them evidence such as a ph. bill that the # is listed under your name.

Does this mean if you're getting calls from them that your mortgage company sold your account and now you have to deal with them?  I was with Bank America

I also walked away from my place. I lost everything and my wife left and then divorced me. I was told by Chase that the property was in foreclosure so I just gave up and sent them the keys and told them to take the house. That was nearly two years ago. So how could I be getting calls from SPS? I no longer own it as far as I know. I guess I need to talk to the a***oles.

This is the abbreviated name for Select Portfolio Servicing, a debt collector that doesn't honor anything you say to them about the legal status of the discharged debt!

geta good mortgage lawyer and not some group that advertises that they help people with mortgage problems. Same thing happened to me and then they told me I didn't qualify anymore.

I walked away from my place. Told them ahead I was doing so. Them being Chase. Like you back last Sept I truied to work with them. Not a Fannie or Freddie Mac back mtg so ythey would not get gvmnt bailout $'s thus no modification. So when the opportunity to move to a cheaper, better place and RENT so I don't have the maintenance headaches came up I stopped paying and moved. That was early summer of this year. Then like you, recently they sold the mtg to this SPS. Guess what SPS?? I still am dumping this worthless property. Your loss as all I wanted wasa fixed rate and would have been fine with keeping the principal. NOT NOW THOUGH.  I will not pay another cent on this. So solution to their harrassing calls? BLOCK THEM.

SPS - Select Portfolio Servicing buys mortgages from other mortgage companies...  My mortgage was bought by them...  They are NOT a mortgage company...  Last year I wanted to re-finance...  They would not help me...  They would only do a loan modification and reduce the interest rate only if you can prove that you are in financial distress...  ALL OF US ARE IN FINANCIAL DISTRESS TO SOME DEGREE!!!  They were helpful with the loan modification...  I gave them all the information they required...  The interest rate dropped to 3.5% and my payments dropped by $1,300/month...  It's not enough but every little bit helps!  Good Luck to you!!    P.S.  These guys are a real PAIN IN THE A** when it comes to the beginning of the month...  They want you to schedule payments with them...  Their automated phone system is borderline HARRASSMENT!!!  It will call you 2-3 times a day until you schedule a payment online or with an agent...

SPS is the culprit here.  They love to harass people.   they were formerly under a different name owned by a Swiss company and were sued and fined for illegal business practices, so they sold company to someone else and changed name and now doing same.  Look it up.

Are you saying they didn't really "buy" my mortgage? I'm sorta concerned since they are being considered a debt collector and not a mortgage company. I had a pay back plan going with Chase and then find out they no longer own my mortgage. What recourse do I have?
