I called this number back and it says the number you have called is no longer in service.  Calls multiple times a day but shows up as unknown.  The only reason I know the number is because I tried to add it to my phone book to see if I could customize the ringer to silent and even though I have the number it still shows up as unknown.

Why don't you guys try paying your bills so you don't have to be afraid to answer the phone?  Gosh!  I answered a call from this number on August 11, 2009.  It is an automated call from Salt Lake Community College.  The recording on the other end reminds students that the deadline is approaching for enrolling in a tuition installment loan program for those students who so desire.  It is not spam or telemarketing.  For those of you not familiar with corporate phone systems, companies often will have more internal extensions than they do external phone numbers to save money.  When calls are made from these internal numbers, the number for the main line shows up on your caller ID, and this usually is a main line where you can dial an extension number or a line to a reception desk.  Sometimes companies disconnect these outside numbers but don't remap outgoing calls to a different outside line.  This is why you get an out-of-service message when you call back.  Or, if contact information will be left with automated calls, sometimes this is intentionally done.  There is no "funny business" going on here.

Also, from looking at a few other sites similar to this one, it appears that previously, this number was used by a collection agency using the DAKCS debt collection software.

Umm....no. I literally just received a call from them that I let go to voicemail. I don't attend college at SLCC. In fact, I'm from out of state until just last year. Why do they have my number if it is just SLCC calling their students to remind them that tuition is due? I have absolutely ZERO affiliation with SLCC, they shouldn't have my number.

I dont think it's SLC CC. I live in Idaho and got called from this number- why would they bother calling another area code?
We have a few debts but none from SLC. When I picked up it was dead air. (Afraid?? Why do some folks feel the need to bash other people with no knowledge of their lives?)

There is an increasing trend among scam companies to use this tactic. They call and pose as a collection agency.  Many times it is simply a scam.  They pull credit files and try to collect from unsuspecting people.  The scammers are not associated with the original debt at all.  Do not pay anyone who calls out of the blue over the phone.  Legitimate collectors will work with you to verify the debt.

The first two times I answered the call from this number it was completely silent. The second time I even waited to see if someone eventually came on the line (I assumed it was automated). After 25 seconds the call just ended.

When I answered the third call I heard the "Please wait. Your call is important..." After a minute a women informed me the call was an attempt to collect a debt. I was surprised because I didn't think I had ANY debt that would have gone to collections. Apparently, it was for a clinic I visited a two months ago. They never sent a second bill to show my balance after insurance payment. Never called me either. (In fact, I called them and they told me I should recieve a bill with my new balance soon.) They just passed it on to a debt collection agency. I'm pretty disappointed with them.

Anyway, the automated system is bizarre. They seriously need to change it.

I received a call from "Unknown" asking me to call the same number (800-325-2701) with a specific reference number.  She told me she was from ORM and that we have spoken before.  I have never spoken to her or anyone from ORM...I don't know what ORM is.  I looked it up online and there were a few hits, but nothing that I recognized.

I've received calls from this number starting last week.  I picked up and it sounds like no one is there.  Then about 30 seconds into it a message comes on to call some number or Press "0" if you are the adult of the household.   I pressed "0" and it just disconnected.   I don't have any debt/collections.   I have a credit watch to make sure no one opens accounts in my name.   Because this is my WORK cell phone, I have blocked the number so they can no longer call.   :)

No.  "Schools" do not.  One particular school, Salt Lake Community College, does, as of August 2009.  Previously, this number belonged to a collection agency, which anyone can verify by Googling it and looking through a few sites similar to this one.

Schools use it when tuition is due.  So if you have tuition coming up, thats possibly what it is from.

Well unless this isn't your legitmate debt at all.. in which case all of the above is invalid and continued phone calls after identifying yourself and knowing you have no debt constitutes harassment that they can be sued for.  If they continue and you know this isn't legit or about you, you can call law enforcement and have the last number traced and get information for a law suit or at least for an order of harassment.  with phone numbers changing hands so easily - it is entirely possible that the contact info they have for anyone who has a debt in collections has changed.  Don't forget that this does happens more often than you might think "the lowdown"

Debt Collector
801-605-2400 belongs to DACKS a debt collection software company. The company handles debt collection for a number of clients. The call can be automated, which is why you are frequently put on hold. The computer software is connecting you to the appropriate agent. Adult Head of Household is used to avoid speaking to children or someone not associated with the debt. To do otherwise violates the law. Leaving a reference number and phone number is also used to avoid violating the law. You are expected to return the call and talk to an agent about your past due account. At this point, your original creditor has most likely sold the debt to a collection agency for pennies on the dollar. Avoid speaking to them and it could go to an attorney. If it does, and a judgment is made against you, then you'll have no recourse. They can garnish up to 25% of your weekly pay check or force the sale of assets, or file a lien. They will eventually get their money. Best to deal with it.

I got at call from them at 10:40 pm utah time tonight with no message left. I have no outstanding debt so I have no idea why a collections agency would be calling me. Especially at 10:40 pm! Even so telemarketers are not allowed to call after 9 or 10. At least thats what they told me when i worked for one like 10 years ago. I hope someone will post a number on here that I can call and get this to stop. thanks!

They keep calling me on my work cell even after I've told them to call my personal cell.  I have made all my payments to them once I found that it was a legit debt.  The one guy calls and treats me like i'm a deadbeat.  I told him to stop calling my work cell and that I would call him back on my lunch.  He then calls my business land line and asks for the HR dept, well that's me, there is no manager I'm the only one here, and tells me he is going to proceed with garnishing my paychecks, when I tell him I know the collection laws (I am a collector myself) and that he cannot do that since I have been making my payments he hangs up on me.  I called his manager and she was very friendly and appologized for his rude behavior and took all my numbers off their list (we'll see what happens next month!)

Keeps calling on my cell phone every day about 11 a.m. Automated call service says that it is not business call and identifies themself as "Adults of The Household". They say that the call is "regarding reference number". In their message they are asking me to call them back at 1-800-325-2701. I looked on Internet about 1-800-325-2701 and I see that people identified it as a 'collection agency'. I do not know who they really are and what they up to but company name "Adults of The Household" sounds strange for a collection agency.

I have gotten a phone call from this number 3 times in the past 2 days.  First two times it was a automated calling machine, but the 3rd time it was a phone sex company.  I immediately hung up and called my phone company and blocked their number. It is absurd that people are doing things like this.

Call comes in with one of those hold on while your call is being answered as it is very important to us.  They called me, I didn't call them....  The music is loud and obnoxious and I wasn't staying on the line for anyone to answer....I have succesfully blocked this number from my phone line....

keeps calling and hanging up every 1/2 hour, if I don't answer they leave a message but all you can hear is someone shuffling papers. What really makes me mad is that they are a collection agency that I have actually talked to and given them my Bankruptcy information and they are still calling me.
