I just got the same call.  The very polite rep. just wanted to know how I liked the service, and let me know about a "learning" tool that is on the site.  SHE WASN'T TRYING TO SELL ANYTHING.  It took less than one minute.

They have not sold your phone number to another company; at least not as evidenced by this call.

I just recently signed up on Ancestry.com
Looks like they must sell our information - totally NOT cool.
Ancestry.com may lose business because of doing this!

You guys need to calm down, you sound like fools.  All it is, is Ancestry.com's customer service calling to see if you are enjoying the service or having any problems.  It makes NO DIFFERENCE if you are on the do not call list, because as soon as you do business with someone- they have the right to call you.  Some of you sound like you just sit around waiting for someone to call so you have something to complain about, jeez.

I just now received a phone call from them as well.  I find calls such as this to be very annoying.  Thank heavens I'm still in the trial period.  I'll be cancelling the trial membership just as soon as I'm finished with this comment.

It is Ancestry.com and they asked how I was liking the service and if there was any help they could provide in an specific area of research that I was conducting.  This call came in about 2 weeks after I signed up for the service as well as put a bid out, on the service, for a very specific research study.  They were not selling anything and had not sold my number.

I got a call and called the number back.  It was the ancestry.com customer service department just asking how I liked their service. No one is selling your information.

Received call from 801-705-7000 Feb 14, 5:43 p.m.  Didn't answer; no message left.  After reading other posts, I assume it was from Ancestry.com.  I had signed up for 14-day free trial.

The problem I have is if you are legit, why have "unknown name" show up on caller ID??!!!

I received a call from this number, no message left.  I will be discontinuing my membership with Ancestry.com based on this call alone.  If when you sign up they asked if they could call or even asked about appropriate hours it would be one thing, but to call blind during work hours is just improper.

Hello, I got that call too.  It was from Ancestry.com.  It was a very nice lady letting me know how the website works.  She was very helpful, when I told her what I was actually looking for, she made a suggestion of where on the website I could find my answer.  I don't think you should "un-join" ancestry.com, I don't think the call cost me anything.

I also received this call after signing up with ancestry.com.  I didn't answer but they did leave a message...thanking me for joining and giving their helpline number if I had any questions or problems with my trial membership.

I just signed up for ancestry.com and have also been getting these calls, no messages left. What's the point of this? I'm on a free trial and was planning to stay subscribed, but this changes my mind.

I just signed up too and love the site. In the week I have had it I found at least a dozen cousins I never knew I had!
If you dont want people to call you, why do you give your number?  Why have a phone?
They just want to make sure you are happy with the service and offer support.
How can anyone complain about customer service?  I am definitely continuing my subscription.

Got a call from this number, as I have also signed up for Ancestry.com.  I wonder if they are calling to let me know that my 14 day trial period is coming to an end, and if I want to continue on with the subscription.  Perhaps, they are doing a QC call to see how you like their services...  never know until you answer and see what they want.  I missed the call or I would have answered..

Firstly, I absolutely hate telemarketing calls and have been known to voice my opinions about this on the phone.  However, this call was actually a support person calling to ask if I needed help with anything which was a pleasant surprise.  His name was Bruce and he wasn't selling anything and spend about 10 minutes on the phone answering a bunch of questions I had about the site.  I wish more companies would do this.  I know I'll be keeping my subscriptions for at least another month.

Same thing.... signed up with Ancestry.com, hit with a phone call and no message.  I won't "un-signup" like some folks here, but I also won't answer the phone when they call, so it's a waste of everyone's time.

I got a call this morning at 10:30 am est from the same number. I also signed up for an ancestry.com trial last week, and will be canceling my trial subscription. I was pretty disappointed in the site anyway, and provided them with far more information than they helped me with.

I just received a call from them after signing up for a 14 day trial earlier in the week. I don't like the fact that they tried to call me. Oh well, I hope they like my voice mail message...."We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service. If you feel you have reached this recording in error, please check the number and try your call again." (short pause) "If you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try again. If you need help, hang up and then dial your operator."
