I actually got a human on the line. Was a credit recovery agaency. I am in Canada and this number calls 3-4 times a day, tying up our business line. I informed the person on the other end that this was a Canadian number being called. He was dismissive and basically ignored my attempts to convince him the wrong number was dialled. At this point I lost it and went off on a bit of an expletive riddled tirade. How do we get rid of this number?

This number called me but I didn't answer. Called it back and it was disconnected.

1-801-472-5500 Automated message for free movie screening:  I tried to call back but couldn't get through... instead got a message saying 'Your  call could not be completed as dialed, please check your number and try again, Error 084T." Anyway, I received a voice mail message January  15,2010 @3:37 pm - it was an automated invitation to a Free movie screening on Saturday January 16, 2010, 2:00 pm, at AMC Burbank 16 Theaters, 125  E. Palm Ave. Burbank, CA, for a family 'kid' show, ages 6 - 12 years old, instructing me not to bring children under the age of six, among other directives. I Googled the theater & called it to find out if they were really showing a free screening, and they said the  movie was "The Snowman", but I am pretty sure that was NOT the name I was given in the message, which I had already deleted. BTW, I didn't sign up for free movie screenings,  so I don't know how they got my number. I do live relatively close enough so that it seems plausible, but it all sounds fishy,especially since I  got yet another call yesterday morning from a number registering 000-000-0000, and a message offering me "a great deal", which might be unrelated, but now I'm investigating these series of calls, as it is suspicious. It's the Movie Exchange. They're an official company. You signed up with them somehow when you went to a free movie screening. I'm sure you get emails from them as well.

All of these calls are coming from a call center, and this is just the number the center uses as their outgoing line (you can't call it back).  Any company, organization or individual can hire the center to make calls (ads, collection agencies, surveys, etc).  The center just makes the calls that they are hired to make.

Same business. Repeat calls, nobody there. Try to call back and you get the "disconnected number speech". Quest customer service was less than useless. A total waste of time. I'll try blocking the call next.

Got a call from this number.  It's for a free movie screening which I signed up for and was simply informing me of a confirmation and instructions on what was allowed at the screening(no camera phones, cameras, large bags, alcohol, etc).

I assume that since this is wildly different than the other things people have gotten from this number, that it's a telemarketing agency which gets hired by a bunch of different companies to send out automated calls.

I live in Ontario. I've been getting calls from a credit recover agency. As usual it's for no one I've ever heard of. Normally the message is on my machine as the calls come during the day, but tonight I answered and spoke to someone. As per other comments, they told me my number would be removed. We'll see...

How does the same number get used for political campaigning in one place and credit collection in another? The do-not-call lists are a start, but the whole system needs a clean-up.

In BC Canada here. They phone from that number sometimes 4 times a day..Usually every 3 or 4 days between calls for the last 5 months. What sucks is if you are using pay and talk here with Telus and you accidentally answer it you get charged for the call as we do. There is no way to block the number as that feature is unavailable. I try to call them back and get "you have reached a number that has been disconnected or no longer in service." My wife actually got through one day to complain to the collection agency doing this. They said they would remove the number from their database but they never did and they just keep calling and calling. They must be STOPPED!!!!

MISSED CALL ON MY CELL, CALLED IT BACK AND IT SAID IT WAS DISCONNECTED. AND IT'S BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS ACCORDING TO OTHER WEBSITES.

When I answered, the recording was from the democratic party. I hung up.

It called me, left a message saying "dear fellow police enforcement..." Something about how they were stopping through South Dakota, where I live and some other state to offer jobs for police officers in some anchorage alaska department. Called it back to see where they got my number and it said the number was disconnected. They called my cell number which I NEVER give out...?

They called but I didn't answer, left a message saying, "This is a movie exchange, we know you recently have been in a movie theatre blah blah.."

This is upsetting to get these calls. Please stop!

This alleged collection company has been calling me for years looking for someone that is not even our name. I have asked them politely and I have have asked them intensely to stop calling and harassing innocent people and get their facts straight but they dont seem to get it. If it continues anymore I am going to take intense legal action after these people!

Have rcv'd 2 annoying calls from this number.  One directly from Bill Dew for Congress Campaign and the other from Lt. Gov Herbert telling me how great Bill Dew would be in Congress.  Calls to 3 phones found for Dew campaign are never answered and voicemail doesn't seem to work properly.  You can reach a real human at his business, Dewbury Homes, 801 201 3586.  They won't give out Dew's number but will take a message.  Dew's home phone is unlisted.  His home address is William S Dew (wife - Jolene), 1015 Featherstone Dr, SLC, UT 84116-1522.  All info found publicly via internet.

Called and then hung up when the answering machine clicked on. I have no idea who this is, but reading the above comments, why is the State of Utah calling a residential party in California??  It will be added to my Do Not Call Registry.
