Got a call from a guy saying my computer was at risk. Very bad English Indian accent.
By the way I work in IT.
Apparently Microsoft got a security report from my PC & then it gets sent to them.
I asked about the details on the report & he said that they could not give the details because they were confidential. ( My report from my PC & it's confidential , imagine that ! )
So I play along and ask what to do.
He says I need to go on my PC & he'll walk me through, I say I can't right now.
I tell him to give me the instructions & a number to call him back.
He does & the callback number is 1.855.731.4928.
He says he's calling from Norfolk, New Jersey.
Never did what he said nor did I call back.
Did research here & saw what this is. This is the 2nd time from another number.
Don't' do any of what they say, EVER !!!!
The numbers called on my phone all begin with the letter "L".
Told my family never to answer these calls again.

Received call from number - obvious call center in India with lots of background chatter. Woman kept insisting that I had computer error messages - I stated I didn't. She incoherently responded something. I kept asking where she got my number from - she couldn't answer and said that I should check microsoft for help on fixing error messages.

I am getting very angry with these people. I am a lung cancer patient, still living alone at 80 years old and not well. Most of the time I am trying to rest when the phone rings and wakes me up. When I pick up the phone and say Hello, no one answers. I do wish there was something I could do to stop this. Any suggestions?

Received a call from a "Peter Smith" - heavy Indian accent, very hard to understand - claiming that my computer had sent error logs to Microsoft. Pure malarkey. He refused to give his number. When I asked to be transferred to his manager, I got "Angela Martin" - again with another heavy Indian accent - in New Jersey! But that's okay because the company is global. Yeah right. Too bad for Smith & Martin that they got someone on the phone with a PhD in Communications and a background in computers to talk rings around their heads. Tenacious, I'll give them that, they just wouldn't accept what I was telling them. Their entire enterprise is a total scam. I asked to be put on the do-not-call list, reminded them about Federal law, and hung up.

This guy just called. His name was Dave c. He had a strong Indian accent. He tried to get me to go into control prompt and enter ipconfig. Never do this! He tries to steal your ip address. And if you go to any websites he tells you to, he can take controll of your CPU and move the mouse and also download stuff.

I just got a call from ?Utah? claiming that my computer was flashing some kind of light and it will only take 5 minutes to fix through phone...WTF? He had a Chinese/indian dialect and tried to convince me to do what he says to my computer. I simply replied ?No, there is nothing wrong with my computer, bye? -click-...just a heads up to all if you receive a call similar to mine.

So glad I checked this # here. Like most of you this man with a heavy Indian accent calls and tells me he is with microsoft and was calling because of the error report I had sent which was funny because I had sent an error report, but in all the years I've been on pc's and have sent error reports i have never received a call from Microsoft. So he ask me to hit ctrl "r" and type in the following www.albionrinis.com I had just wrote it down wasn't about to start typing in a web address in my run screen. It would be nice if someone can find out what this is? I'm to afraid of it being some sort of virus

DANGEROUS SCAM!!!! Indian sounding guy called on 5-9-12 saying I reported problems with my computer and he would help. Asked me to go to a site, www.logmein123.com where he took control of my computer. He was moving the mouse and opening files. He pulled open an error list to show me and said he could help me fix them problems. He was very difficult to understand. He asked for my credit card and said the charge for his software/service was $137.00. I didn't give him my credit card. He asked if I had any other computers in the house. I hung up on him. This number has been calling for several weeks and finally caught me when I answered. Now I have to have to change all of my account information, call the bank, and clean my pc. The FBI needs to hunt down these thieves preying on innocent people.

Just received a call myself. Could not understand what he was trying to say. Asked how he got my unlisted number, he was going to explain that too. Wanted to know how he knew I had PC problems. I am not a bigot or racist but why can't they hire people that have a good understanding of english. I have now blocked that number.

Just recieved a call from this number and then he became very insulting when I told him that I was not ignorant and that he can try and hack someone else's computer...this one's name was Vincent !!!! RIGHT!!!
| Dave 2012-05-02 20:02:21 Unknown |
Started into the "we got a notification you have a virus on your computer" pitch
I cut them of with a few well chosen words.

I also got a call from this number. The accent on the other end told me that my computer was sending data to some kind of server and indicating that my software was faulty. Whe pressed for specifics, the accent said that my computer reports the date and time upon boot. He would not tell me when my computer was sending the error reports.. I told him I thought he was phishing and that I was terminating the call. About 10 minutes later I got a call from yet another area code. When I called back, I got a robot that told me to press "1" to put me on the accent's Do Not Call list. Why would I have to do that? I'm already on the Federal Government's DNCL.

This is a scam. Comes up as "." on caller ID. Called saying I had a computer issue. Likely wants you to do a command prompt to hack into your computer or transfer your hard drive information to their server. Indian guy, couldn't understand.

I received two of these calls today but didn't answer them...don't know the number, don't answer the phone. There needs to be a way to stop ALL of these types of calls...any suggestions? Being on the DO NOT CALL list obviously doesn't help or stop them! Thank you!
| bearbear 2012-04-27 22:33:43 Unknown |
Try this! It worked several times for me. Answer that phone but say anything and hit # as fast as you can and hang up. It screws up their computers!!!
