I had the same problem, folks. Then I found out how to block the call. I can only speak for a Verizon phone, but I suspect other carriers phones would be similar. You can block all calls "EXCEPT" anyone on your call list. If their number is not in your database you won't get it. If the incoming number IS in your phone list it will come through. Pretty cool. And I know you're wondering how it's done. I'm an old fart and I can't remember. But I "do" remember I saw it on Youtube.

This is not the number for discover card, they are only identifying themselves that way.  I called the number on the back of my discover card and asked them about this. there were no calls initiated by discover card regarding my account so I am guessing this is some kind of scam to get you to give information.  Don't call back and just delete the message.

Debt Collector
These folks have called and called even though I've told them I am not the person they are looking for. I've stopped answering and they've filled my voicemail box so, my friends and family can't leave me messages. I've had the same cell phone number for somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 years so, even though they try to claim I must have just gotten this number and that it shows a Sprint number that belongs to whoever they're looking for, there's simply no way. I'm a Verizon customer. I have absolutely no debt and have never had any debt problems. I've told them to stop calling, threatened them with legal action, etc., and they still keep going. I've finally had it and plan to take legal action. I'm going to request a written validation notice from them (hopefully eHow has the steps right - http://www.ehow.com/how_6526787_report-agency-calling-wrong-number.html ) and then I'm going to let Google voice handle their calls so that I have a solid call log to use against them without having to monkey around with them ringing my phone. God help them if one of their reps is ever dumb enough to stay on the line with me once I tell them I'm recording the call.

I turned the tables on discover card. They called me 4-5 times a day. I started to call them back I called them up fifty times in one hour. I refused to give then info and kept calling back finally a supervisor came on and told me i was harrasing them. They said they are going to call the cops. I told them to quit calling me and i am not paying the bill. If they kept calling me iI would call them a hundred time an hour until they stopped. Guess what it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have not called me in three days. I have done this to 3 credit card companies and they stopped calling me.

I have been getting calls from this number for about a week now...I looked it up and it is Qwest Corp., why they are calling me is beyond me...
Is there any recourse to get them to stop calling?  Or will I have to call the State Police and report harassing phone calls?

I'm pretty sure this is from Discover Card. They call me 4-5 times a day, beginning at 8:30am. They never leave a voicemail, and every time I pick up or try to call the number back the person on the other end hangs up and/or the call is not answered and simply rings forever. I am extrememly aggravated!!

I do not have a Discover card. They called on a Saturday at 8:22. I called back today and it says "Thank you for calling Discover Card."   Called me today at 10:42 and again at 12:45. Calling my business. If I pick up it, the recording tells you to stay on the line for an important message.  So I am guessing it's just telemarketers calling over and over and over again - as if anybody in their right mind would get a credit card from a business that employs a call center to call them at work every two hours, day after day.

Now they ask for Cory.  They called at 8:19 and we explained they are calling a business over and over and we have nothing to do with Cory.  They said they would delete us from the list.  They called again at 10:25 and we went through the exact conversation again.  They reply, "You won't be getting any more calls."  And they quickly hang up. How much do you want to bet they call again in 2 hours?  Here's the deal. Some idiot put my phone # on a credit card application and Discover failed to verify it was a valid #. So now that idiot isn't making their payments and Discover is calling my business every 2 hours and assuming that we are lying about this Cory not living at this #.  I figure Discover's lax lending practices should be their problem and not mine.  It's not my fault they issued a credit card based on a bogus application, so why should I have to file a FCC complaint to get Discover to quit calling my workplace now?  But that is exactly what I will have to do to make it stop.  They call again in 2 hours and the complaint will be filed.  This is b.s.

Wrong, an FDCPA violation doesn't have to be an intentional act.  Not all excuses "fly" in the debt collection world.  Trying to prove that a violation is unintentional is not easy because the burden is on the debt collector to demonstrate the maitenance of procedures reasonably designed to prevent the violation.

I am receiving 6 to 10 calls every day from this number to my cell phone number.  I initially answered it but no one responded.  Since my cell phone plan is pay as you go, each time I answer it costs so I have stopped answering, but their calls have only increased.  I have also placed my cell phone number on the no call list but it hasn't helped.

Actually each state has seperate laws in regards to fdcpa. It is a violation to record a call in some states regardless if a debt is owed. The consumer has to agree to the recording of the call. Also these companies are on an automatic dialer system and they are ot allowed to call more than 3 times a day. If they talk to someone or leave a message then the calls should stop for a few days.
