My caller ID shows SLPA 801-990-6228 caller said he was with SALT LAKE POLICE ASSOCIATION and wanted a donation of either $100 75 50 25 or even 10 to help the kids for Christmas

No one ever responded after I said Hello. Annoying.

Western States Publishing is the phone soliciting firm hired by UNOA to solicit donations. They can be reached at (801) 363-2958. Ask then to remove you from their call list or add you to their do not call list. My guess is the reason they call and hang up is: this is a common strategy used by phone solicitation companies. To have a machine call to see if you pick up and at what time you picked up, so they have a better idea when to catch you home, so a solicitation rep can call at that same time of day and have a better chance of reaching you.

Answered phone, they hung up.  Reverse lookup of no help.

Automated dailers used by telemarketers will "hangup" after you answer if all the telemarketing representatives are busy and they will then put your number back into the database for callback at a later date. SLPA is the Salt Lake Police Association, the Labor Union for Salt Lake City Police Dept. SLVFA is Salt Lake Valley Firefighters Association the union for Salt Lake City and County Fire Depts. They both stage youth programs and call to raise funds for them.

My brother was a fireman - killed on duty.  I do not appreciate, therefore, calls of this nature.  Speak up or shut up.  Try a "real" job.  I doubt that you will do any better at it.

Or the Salt Lake Police Association (SLPA).
