Seems they have changed numbers. Looked up the latter and comes up with a fax line

Got the same messages about the bank account frozen.  obviously a scam, Called Sprint and they are aware but cant seem to block the text message yet.  Someone should be brighter than that there.  Call your bank and Phone company as they should also be made aware of the scam and can and should do something about it!  Don't get charged for the text messages

called my bank. theyre doing their thing.
called sprint. theyre doing their thing.
called level 3 communications. they looked it up and it is indeed a number IN Newfane VT. they advised i file a report with my local police dept.
called local police dept. they took report and will follow up. jurisdiction is a question due to unknown location of texter. they file it and will follow up but advise i call windham co. sherriff of VT (newfane location).
called sherriff in VT. they transfered me to VT police in brattleboro VT.
talked to VTPD. they took the information. and will file it as informative to the PD and will follow up and look into what they can. the number is out of service now but well see what happens eventually. it was strange trying to get information accross because of where my number is from (MO) and where i live (not MO). so they now know a number in their state was used as a contact to defraud people.

good luck evevryone. do not respond to the text.

Live in MO. And have a sprint phone and I received this text about 3:39 CST. I do wonder how they got my number too. I honestly didn't even bother calling it. I figured it was a scam. I just googled it and was directed here.

Another one in KCMO, same text, same message. Person who got the call doesn't have an account at that bank so clearly a scam. As of 4 p.m. CST Jan. 15th, that particular number had been "disconnected or no longer is in service."

Company I work in has a 800 221 1115 number and people keep calling us every two minutes because of the text message they got...we are going to switch the number off because of this

I got the same text as everyone else seems to be getting. I nearly fell for it because I do have a card with this bank and I had just made a purchase online. This truly is a scam -- my wife works at a bank and customers have been calling all day about this text notice!

I got the text message and phone number to call to.  I live in Iowa but have a St. Joseph, MO phone number.  I called and the number came up as not in service.  I guess it has been taken care of already.

DJ is correct - They DON'T know where you bank.  In the past month I've gotten one from Vantage Credit Union, Gateway Credit Union and US Bank.  I only have an account at ONE of those places.

UPDATE!

I tracked down the owner of the phone number. it is indeed level 3 communications. i called them and talked to them the number was from mthe Telcove of VT phone company that was acquired by Lvl 3 comm a while back and is not a resold number. purely owned by them. they immediately requested that I REPORT this to the local POLICE department so a police report is made, and from there they will contact lvl 3 and the process will begin. (my # is jeff city)

Live in Kansas City, KS, but have a St. Louis cell phone number.  I do happen to have some accounts there, but I decided to google this number first and found this.  
Looking back, I received another message from the same number on Dec 20, 09: "Gateway Regional alert. Please call 480 717 4914.

I emailed the Attorney General in Vermont about this.  I sure hope no one out there gave out their info. I didn't even call the number.  My cell is listed in MO as well

got it a little bit ago. i have a missouri number. sprint phone. called the bank reported it and theyre on it. called swprint and they had me forward the text to abuse@messaging.sprintpcs.com affter the call so they can follow the switches back and prevent them form texting it again. im at work and near vermont where the phone number looks up to but i would just find an exchange there i think. the number is run by levevl 3 communications llc, wich provides worldwide fiber-based communications so it could be from anywhere. im calling them next. following the chain. everyone should do the same so the stink rises and something happens.
