This women called me to set up the installion and said she is the supervisor for peerless network the installation company for the free GE home security system.   Call and tell her you want the system installed and she will think she has a sale   Try to get more info to post so they will stop this robo calling

They pretend to be  "security company" that will install and monitor an alarm in your home free of charge.
As stated in the past, when you call them at this number you are automatically disconeccted and when you press "1" fo be placed on the Do Not Call List", you still get these calls.  This is nothing but a scam and all should stay clear!  By the way, I was once connected to them and when I asked the name of the company I was hung up on.

got robo-call from 802-488-3060 on Monday 12-10-12 @ 347PM. The message starts - "DONT HANG UP..............if U want a Free Security System with Free Installation press1". So I did and these jerks make U wait listening to music on the phone. Then a guy came on and said "Did U press 1 - How can I help U?" I told him "I want to know how I can get a Free Security System". The guy said "that is a very good question, I will get a specialist on the line to explain". Then he asked another question which I did not fully hear since I placed my phone near my computer speaker and started my "Raunchy British song" at full blast
............soon the SCAMMER was gone.

Doing about an hour of phone work, I found out this number (802) 488-3064 is provided thru CTC Communications Corporation, VT (NOT the CTC Communications corp in Canada).

Problem is the only local number [802-658-8864 in Williston Vermont] for Ctc communications corporation, VT is disconnected. I got an (800) number thru Centurylink [using 802-555-1212]. Thru many many loops, hurdles, and wrong numbers, I found out the telephone provider for this 'security company' [Ctc Communications] was bought out by Earthlink.

I confirmed this with Earthlink business at (800) 962-2488.

Next, I was tried to squeeze out the contact info for this "security" company twice, but Earthlink was tight lipped and required a subpoena. Earthlink charges $75 per hour for them to research, along with whatever your court costs would be [http://www.earthlink.net/about/policies/civil.faces].

So I kind of hit a dead end and im just blocking the whole area code to prevent further calls. Good luck whoever wants to pursue this further. I just doubt the $1,000-per-FTC-telemarketer-who-calls-after told-to-stop-and-after-you-are-on-the-national-do-not-call-list-cival-penalty 'thing' will be enough to pay all your legal, travel, and research fees.

I was kind of thinking of when they call having them come out and waste their time also getting the contact information for the 'company' but, as this is clearly a scam, its not very safe giving out your physical address to thieves.

Good luck people.

P.S. I am leaving this same message for the numbers below. If you dial any of these numbers, oddly the same 'man' answers saying to press 1 to be placed on the do not call list. SAME EXACT MESSAGE VERBATIM for each of these numbers.

(802) 488-3064, (802) 488-3063, (802) 488-3062, (802) 488-3061, (802) 488-3060,  (802) 488-3052, (802) 488-3051, (802) 488-3050, (802) 488-3045, (802) 488-3044, (802) 488-3030, (802) 488-3023, (802) 488-3022, (802) 488-3021

I stopped dialing at (802) 488-3020. I believe this 'security company' has the whole (802) 488-30xx block (99  numbers).

(802) 488-3065 - 69 are all busy/not-in-service, as are 53 - 59, 43- 40, 39-31, 29- 24 and 20

I tried (802) 488-2060 just to see about the next block of number but it was for a completely different company and did not have a clue about any home security products.

Also, (802) 488-4060/62 were not in service (with a message saying so).

I am so angry with these calls. It said to press 1 so I did and hollered, "Stay off my G*% Da&# Fuc*&^%$% phone!"
Do you think that will help?

In the past, I told the person that it was an illegal call and that they should look for an honest company to work for.

Actually, check out some pranks that you can do... google "Tom Mabe pranks a telemarketer YOUTUBE". He is hilarious and will make it better for you.

Another in a long list of robocalls with the same come on of putting a sign in my yard for a free security system.  They have changed the area code from the Pacific NW to VT this time, but its the same sh*t different day.  I will be doing the usual tilting at windmills and report it to the DNC list, but that does about as much good as banging my head on the wall.  At least when you stop banging your head, you have a sense of relief.

First of all, people, we cannot say it enough--the DO NOT CALL LIST DOES NOT WORK !!!!!!    Same way laws against robbery and other crime don't work.  Scumbags are all over and laws do not bother them.  if you can, BLOCK the call.  Do not answer if you can't block.

They will keep calling from other numbers even if you do block.  There is no permanent fix but tell everyone you know NEVER to buy anything from these calls.  That is the only thing that will stop them. Eventually they will go broke.  .

It won't stop the calls.  As long as there is someone stupid enough to do business with them the calls will continue.  But that is their weakness: you know they will call again.  So go to Walmart and in the boating department buy a canned air horn.  Set it beside your phone and just wait.  Next time they call, press the number to speak to a rep and as soon as they answer try to blow their eardrums out the other side of their head.  This won't stop the calls either but at least when the call is over you will have the satisfaction of knowing the guy on the other end is more pissed off than you are.  After a while you will be looking forward to their calls.  What great fun!!

Got a call from this number while I was driving. Did not answer.  Had one on the 14th as well.  Oh Well.  FYI:  this is for those interested in opting out of some junk mail as in credit card and loan offers.  This morning I went to equifaxoptoutpreview.com and filled out their online application.  Supposedly, it's permanent.  Before I did, I did the research to make sure the 1800 # actually matched their online removal because you have to provide your date of birth and SSN.  Once you complete the form, you have to print an actual copy, sign and mail it.  The opt out is also good for Experian, TransUnion and Innovis.  I think it's hypocritical that these credit bureaus that are supposed to be discreet and secure with our credit ratings but so evil in providing our names and addresses to anyone that is peddling credit card and loan offers, etc. etc. etc. Once I pulled my credit report, I found three different mailing lists pirates and was able to get off a great deal of junk mail by contacting them.  There's big money in mail lists. I'm a big advocate in our right to privacy both on phones and mailings.

The national pandemic of telephone terrorism perpetrated by desperate criminal collection agencies and scam artists of every despicable sort is because they are trying to terrorize people who are naive enough to answer and submit to unsolicited telephone calls or written "collection" letters that have no legitimate legal debt associated with them or any of the companies, universities, or whomever else they claim to represent. Because most "little guys" were bankrupted by the criminal Wall St / Congress / Big Oil / Big Bankers / Big Business / Military / Robber Barons, so the desperate collection agencies are attempting to collect unpaid debts from innocent people by terrorizing them into submission. News reports claim that some of these nefarious rogue calls are originating from overseas, where the caller claims to be a relative down on his or her luck who needs hundreds or thousands of dollars to get out of trouble, a policeman or government agent threatening their unwitting victims with lawsuits, fines, garnishments, seizures of property and imprisonment, and any other unconscionable tactic they can use to terrify and swindle the unwary out of their life savings.

Word of advice. NEVER answer any calls you don't recognize or are not expecting. Use selective call rejection service if available, or switch to an Internet-based telephone service which provides comprehensive call rejection options. If rogue calls become chronic, turn off all the ringers on all of your phones except one, and set its volume to the minimum setting. Digital hardware call blockers, the popular "DIGITONE Call Blocker 10" for example, could help or do harm depending on how high-tech and aggressive the rogue callers are against your phone number. The more technology you use against them, the more likely they will use technology more aggressively against you to the point where your phone could ring more frequently from rogue calls and in middle of the night hours. So staying lower-tech could actually help to keep your phone a bit more under their unrelenting predatory radar. If you don't answer the call and the caller is legitimate, they will usually leave a voicemail after the first or second try. Rogue callers almost never leave voicemail messages because that could be used as evidence against them if it came to a lawsuit, albeit spoofed calls are backed by governments and corporations, so there is nothing the little guy can do against such illegitimate activities but to block and ignore them. If you receive a rogue letter in the mail warning you of some "collection" action against you, if you don't actually owe it, reply with a short letter stating that you don't owe it. Or if you do owe all or part of it, reply with something like "You claim I owe you a debt. Under §809 FDCPA, I request validation of this debt."

Only give them your name as THEY have written it to you (e.g. ?John Doe? not ?Jonathon Q. Doe? or however you normally sign your own name), address, and the account number they report. But if you do not owe the debt (zombie debt, aged debt, mistaken or stolen identity, forgery, etc.) state that you have never done any business with them or with the (alleged) original creditor of any kind and you expect the collection agency to close the matter, stop harassing you and take any bad credit marks they've caused off of your credit rating, and furthermore, that any further contact from them must be in writing on their official business correspondence letterhead. Send your letter to them a.s.a.p., always within thirty days, first class certified mail return receipt requested. If they refuse it and you get the letter back unopened, leave it unopened and save it in your files as evidence against them should they pursue legal action against you. If they did receive it and continue to pursue action against you, let them. The judge will throw it out of court. If the rogue collection agency sells your account to another rogue collection agency just tell them the claim has been proven invalid and offer to send them a copy of your letter to the previous rogue collection agency.

Warn all your friends about this rash of desperate collection agency terrorism, and how to combat it. Knowledge is power. The more you learn how to combat rogue collection agencies, back-taxes scammers, phishing scammers, "faith and family" scammers, political action committees and other low-life flimflammers, the more you will learn how easy it is to do.

Above all, keep a record of everything, of every rogue call w/ caller ID information displayed including time and date of each call. Maintain a complete file on any snail-mailed intimidation from rogue collection agencies, including copies of all correspondences and postal receipts. Reporting rogue calls on sites like 800notes.com, whocallsme.com, phoneowner.info is a great idea too, because many people find these sites by googling for the rogue number(s) after receiving calls from them.
