This call is coming to my business line and is very annoying
Traci 2011-06-06 20:59:10 Unknown
Does anyone actually fall for this scam? There must be someone otherwise, why would they continue to do this? Rec'd this call on my cell phone and don't know how to stop them.
Chris 2011-06-06 20:59:10 Unknown
I received a call from them and I asked what kind of car I owned. Employee stated that it would be a huge "breach of security" if they told me, I laughed. Then I told them that this is a fuc*ing scam if they can't even tell me what brand car I own. He told me I don't need to curse at him and said he would take my name off the list. This is after I receieved the same call on my mother inlaws landline. Also receieved from 484-380-3096.

No message left on my cell phone. Hate it when telemarketeers burn up my minutes.
Inrealife 2011-06-06 20:59:10 Unknown
Very slick telemarketing person. First I told him three times I have asked to be remove from their calling list and they continue to call me everyday still. At one point, he thinks he has the sale wrapped up, or lead to believe and then I ask him the hard questions "Like how can you offer a extended warranty on a 10 yr old car with 69,000 miles on it? First he told me he can, I told him that I might sell the car after a couple of years. He told me that he would buy my car for himself he lived in California, because of the low mileage. He then he puts me on hold, comes back to the phone and tells me to call My Honda Dealership to see what would be covered! I told him wait I want to find out why he does not want to sell me the warranty now, why the cold feet and please explain. He then tells me that they will remove me from their calling list as I have requested times before and I tell him wait I am interested in the warranty and then he hangs up. This company has done so my things against the law, I do not know how they have continue to remain in business. This must end.

FYI, The FCC complaint option does not seem to cover getting a call on your cell phone. Cell phones do not need to be on the do not call list as they are supposed to be protected by law.

This number called and hung up. We need real contact info on them. I am located in So. Fla (561).

I just got one also on my Cell phone. My car Waranty ran out two years ago, and this call came to my cell phone which it's illegal to make solicitation c alls to cell phones anyway under federal law.
When Caller ID first came out, the phone companies offered telemarketers the ability to change it to "Anonymous". When they gave caller ID subscribers the ability to block "Anonymous" (for a fee) the phone companies offered the telemarketers the option to show up as "Out of area". Then they offered Caller ID subscribers the option to block those (for a fee). Next the phone companies made it so they can alter the display to show whatever they want.
As a telecommunications engineer I can tell you they can tell exactly what phone circuit the call is really coming from. As far as I am concerned, the local phone carrier is fair game.
Congress needs to do their damn job and make a law forbiding phone companies from allowing people to hid the true phone number.

Repeated calls from this number about auto insurance. Hung up before I could tell her not to call anymore.
Aaron 2011-06-06 20:59:10 Unknown
I've gotten this call 3 times in the last 2 weeks and just now got around to Googling it.
I don't own a car either.
I'll probably screw with them the next time they call.
ross 2011-06-06 20:59:10 Unknown
They left a message claiming this was a 2nd notification that my auto warranty was about to expire. I tried calling them back - busy signal.
Kris 2011-06-06 20:59:10 Unknown
I keep getting a call from this number... from what I read I won't answer... stop calling!!!
Todd 2011-06-06 20:59:10 Unknown
Just got the same call - I bought my car barely 2 months ago, so I thought it was weird, especially given that they didn't say the make or model in the dialer spiel. I hit the number to speak to a rep - when she came on the line (after 9 rings) and I told her my car is new and she may have the wrong person on file, she started talking to someone in the background and hung up on me! No "We'll have you removed", no "Have a nice day", nothing! Nice...

From Wikipedia: Caller ID spoofing is the practice of causing the telephone network to display a number on the recipient's caller ID display which is not that of the actual originating station; the term is commonly used to describe situations in which the motivation is considered nefarious by the speaker. Just as e-mail spoofing can make it appear that a message came from any e-mail address the sender chooses, caller ID spoofing can make a call appear to have come from any phone number the caller wishes. Because of the high trust people have tended to have in the caller id system, spoofing can call the system's value into question.
I myself have been getting these calls on my cell phone from multiple numbers, maybe 1-2 a week. I add the number to my reject list, but they call back with different numbers later. Just don't answer a call if you don't recognize the number. If it is someone legitimately needing to get in touch with you they will leave a message and you can call them right back. Be careful about being internet vigilantes, the people in VT are probably victims of the scammer, the scammer spoofed their number.

I called the "owner of this phone line, WAITSFIELD-FAYSTON TELEPHONE CO. She explained to me that the telemarketers spoof the caller ID number, like they do with emails. The number 802-759-2575 is not a valid number. They have received hundreds of calls daily about this. She explained to me that the best thing to do is to trick them out of some contact information, and report it to the Attorney General or the FCC.
