i have been receiving calls to. they finally left a voice message stating that they are calling on "behalf of the US Coast guard to conduct a survey about outdoor recreation". i didn't answer the phone.

It doesn't matter why they are calling.  Being on the DO NOT CALL list makes it illegal.

Called me twice. Getting annoyed. Will ask them to take me off the list if possible.

A woman called saying she was with the US Coast Guard and was wanting to know if iwould be interested in taking tei survey. I told her my number was unlisted and on the do nt call list.She did explain thnumber was radomy enrated by a computer. Then she said they would collect any information for this survey i gave about myself. She then wanted to know if i was over 18, i said no. She then wanted to know when would be a good time to call back to speak with someone over the age of 18. I told her not to bother calling back as i was not interested in taking a survey especially since nobody at the number they called owns a use's any type of boat.
She sstill insisted to gie a tie to call bak ro speak wih someone older. I finally said no as i am the owner of the number and she don't need to know my age and to remove my number he said she has no way of removing it since it's a radomly generated phone number.

Blocked them ...and will keep blocking them....sorry about there luck !

Why don't you just look through records and call people who are boat owners? I do not own a boat and am tired of the phone calls. I have received 9 calls from you starting on 3/18/2013 to 3/25/2013. If they are computer generated, I would check your computers and find out why they generate my number 9 times in 7  days.

Numerous calls from this number, says it is a Coast Guard Survey. Pressed caller for info, gave me a number to call. (1-888-316-8038) Have not called as of yet, but that is supposedly the person that can explain what the call is all about. When I told caller my number is on the Do Not Call List, she said that does not affect them as they are not trying to sell anything or solicit funds. Don't  know if that is true, but have reported the call.

This number has called at least once daily for months. They have identified themselves as the US Coast Guard taking a survey; have also identified themselves as the Dept of Health. Have asked them not to call, they ignore request.

VERY annoying.  Won't stop calling.

I did not specifically tell them that I am not a recreational boater (which I am not) but I did tell them that I did not wish to participate.  That was Sunday.  They have called me back again the last two nights.  

I am thinking about reporting ICF Macro to the authorities.

Finally answered and was told it was a Coast Guard survey. Southern accent from Vermont? Questions
about boats, fishing, etc then switched to questions about land line and cell phones.

These calls are from phone sex lines trying to solicit phone sex.

This is just to inform everybody that the US Coast Guard's boating safety division is currently conducting its national recreational boating survey. This survey is being fielded by ICF Macro, the private survey company that won the contract several years ago.  I am the technical manager of this survey, and like to invite recreational boaters and boat owners to visit the boating safety division's website (http://www.uscgboating.org/) to see what we do. A few things to know:  

1) The phone numbers dialed by ICF Macro are randomly generated by a computer to remove any possible bias in the selection of survey participants. Consequently, even if your number is on the DO NOT CALL list, the computer random number generator may still put it together one digit a time, and dial it. Therefore, the decision to dial your specific number was not made by someone determined to disturb your daily routine. Instead, it was made by a computer to ensure randomness.

2) If you are not a boater and do not own a recreational boat, please inform the interviewer right away that you have nothing to do with recreational boating. They will never call you again.

3) If you are a recreational boater, please help the Coast Guard make the use of american waterways safer by taking a few minutes of your time to participate in the survey.

4) The National Recreational Boating Survey enables the Coast Guard to better identify safety priorities, coordinate and focus research efforts, and encourage consistency in the information that is collected as well as the applied analysis methods.

Her voice was from a female, about 30-40 years old. The location is Burlington, VT. She left a voice message saying that it was a coast guard survey and would reach me again.

This number calls my home every day...Calls 7 days a week, even on Sunday...

This number has called me twice this week and has not left a message. I don't answer numbers I don't recognize, so I'm not sure what they want. Weird.

Female (not a recording) says it's a "Coast Guard survey"...which I doubt.  Called my husband's Tracfone number, which we NEVER give out. How did this 'telemarketer' get the number??

This woman keeps calling at all times of the day and evening.  Very disruptive.  I'm not interested in her survey and told her to take me off her call list.  If the calls continue, I will report the number.

A female told me she was from the USA Coast Guard and was doing a survey...I hung up asap and didn't partake in the survey.

These calls are saying they are from the US Coast Guard and they want to do a survey on Outdoor Recreation.  They are harassing us....

I agreed to that same boating survey but this is NOT the same thing.  I have since sold my boat and contacted the Coast Guard and let them know.  The last time these people called and I answered they hung up on me when I told them I was a law enforcement officer.

The current (Fall, 2012) batch of calls from 802-862-3489 are paid for by the Coast Guard and ICF bid on doing the surveys.This could be done lots better as ICF does not leave any message - if you find it annoying complain if you actually answer the call and tell them you will complain to your Senator/COngressman about ICF's total lack of professionalism, etc, etc.  That should take you off their list. ICF seem to know little to nothing about sailing or watercraft, so you could have fun with this if you are so inclined.....

The phone #'s they are using can be old or wrong as there is NOT a centralized database for boats or even for types of watercraft (like sail vs. power; or true yachts which are supposed to be over 29' vs a casual boat with a simple outboard motor) in most states. Add to that the fact that often a harbor where a boat is located (harbor will give lists to coast guard) will have boats from other states or landlocked areas so the contact phone #'s have multiple times in which they can get inputed wrong so more wrong phone #'s. Some states lump all things that float together while other states don't.  Some states put you on a watercraft list if you buy certain types of motors.  ICF calls come in waves (lmao) and I know of people who are getting them as their kids do Opti sailing (Opti's are little bathtub size learn-to-sail boats for kids age 8 - 14) and the Opti lists get into US Sail database which coast guard has access to.

This number tells me that they are with the Coast Guard & wants a survey to ask me questions about our water vessels. I think they were trying to find out where they are located to be honest.

Phone call wanting me to take a survey but also wanted some personal information from me. Didn't answer them, just hung up. Do not answer them! It's obviously a scam.

This is for a Coast Guard Boating Survey. I actually agreed to them calling me for a survey some months ago. It is a legit survey as far as surveys go. It is to help develop boating standards and stuff like that. However it could be a survey company that does many surveys so they might be calling you guys for a different reason.

They aren't scamming though. Just collecting data. Things won't get better if we don't voice our opinions.
