They have to stop calling you if you ask them to. That's the law, no matter who they are.

I got a call a few minute ago, picked up and nobody was there.

True, however, if you tell them to add you to their internal do not call list, they must stop calling, or else they are liable for fines just like any other scofflaw telemarketer.

Unfortunately, surveys, charitable solicitations and political calls are exempt from the Federal Do Not Call law.

The length of my phone call with this person was literally like 17 minutes. It's nothing short. I thought by just doing it, I'd get rid of their calls - but almost immediately following, I got another from a vaccination survey. So much for "random."

I agree it was really harmless to answer the questions.   They are just trying to earn a paycheck like everyone else.

They were calling my cell # so I put a block on the number to reject the call.  They just called my phone this morning at 9:19 A.M. and the reject worked as my phone did not ring nor allow them to leave me another message.

They have been calling my house daily for the past 2 weeks, 2 nights ago I told them no thank you and then tonight Ring Ring!! Hello CDC. Well I know how dialers work and I know the magic phrase so off to the races after the survey takers is having issues with "TAKE ME OFF YOUR LIST" so I ask to talk to the "supervisor". They are probably asking whether your cell is the only phone because they are randomly calling people and do not want to skew their results.  A great number of people only use a cell phone, and that sub-population of people may differ from landline users (older vs. younger for instance.)  Similar issue existed for the presidential polling that occurred prior to Truman's election, the sample population was skewed.  This company is likely accounting for the different types of phone users.  

I hung up too though as I thought the questions were odd at first and didn't have a chance to read anyone's comments.

The time is 25 minutes of your time. They have been calling for weeks and pretend they are on call one  when it is number 30 or so.

Rich, file a complaint with the Vermont Attorney General's office and also send an email complaining to the real CDC in Atlanta (can Google the info for both offices).  I did this and the calls stopped immediately.

I agree. I just took the survey, no personal info was requested, unfortunately these people that do this for a living have bills to pay as do I, it didn't hurt me one bit to answer a few questions and it was much easier than to curse at them and get angry

This number calls numerous times a day and no one ever says anything.

Phone number 802-861-7713 is calling my pre-paid cell phone, which costs me money every time they call. They fill up my voicemail with useless blather about a survey and claim to be the CDC. The thing is, the real CDC (Center for Disease Control) is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and this phone call is coming from a Vermont based area code. I am registered with the Do Not Call List and I am now reporting each and every call on the Do Not Call Registry complaint form available online. I have also filed a complaint against the phone number with the Vermont State Attorney General's Office. I have also sent an email to the real CDC in Atlanta informing them of the harrassing phone calls from the outfit claiming to represent them. It is ridiculous to receive this many calls and once again, each call costs me money because they are calling a pre-paid cell phone number. I don't believe they are legitimate and I encourage anyone receiving multiple calls from this phone number to report it to the organizations I mentioned above. With a lot of complaints someone is going to shut them down.

I don't believe this is a legitimate outfit, nor do I believe they represent the CDC.  I have filed a complaint with the Vermont Attorney General's Office against the phone number calling me.  Let the state of Vermont investigate and shut down these annoying dirt bags.  I also sent an email to the CDC informing them of the company claiming to represent them.  Let them investigate as well.

Person states they are from Center of Disease Control and need to ask questions concerning Tobacco use and will call back in a few days.

Did everyone has a female caller? and if so what was her name? They have been calling for what feels like forever this is crazy.

Supposedly a call from the CDC about tobacco usage.  As soon as they asked a questions and waited for a response, I told them that no one in our household uses tobacco, it's disgusting and nasty just like Obama"care" is.  Then added "have a great day," and hung up.

area. However many do. Had my phone off / no message left.

Just had the call identifying themselves as being with the CDC and asking if I was was in a vehicle to determine if I was on a cell phone.  Instead of answering her question, I asked her to give me a phone number to call back and she gave me a toll free number that is tied to the same alleged survey.  Upon further research, I found that these people are running some sort of telemarketing scam ...

Two days ago I received a phone call from this number to my new cell phone. Which is curious as not that many persons have my number. She said she was calling on behalf of the Centers for Disease Control.

It seems like I've received a hundred phone calls from this co.  I have caller id and you'd think that when I haven't answered any of the previous ones they'd take the hint.  I finally had it so I answered and the guy calling talked like it was some sort of survey.  When he mentioned tobacco I told him I was sorry I didn't smoke and had never smoked so he started to change his story when I hung up on him.  Tonight I had a woman call from this same number and I interrupted her and yelled at her to please take me off her list and I hung up on her.  I'm sure they'll call again and I'll just go back to not bothering to answer.  It is really annoying when the phone rings & interrupts my evening be it TV or reading to check who is calling.  I'm also on the DO NOT Call list but it seems no ever bothers to check it.  My phone is for  MY convenience and I'm the one who pays for it and I get really steamed about telemarketer calls.
