Rec'd this message on wife and my phones, we do NOT have texting so I knew it had to be a scam phishing for acct #'s
Called Sprint, they don't know anything other than we should not be billed for any texting. They do not know how any message came thru. I suspect either a Sprint employee or another hacker cracked into their system.

I received the same text at trainer 33 on 11/30/09, 12:11 pm. There was an article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on 12/2/09 stating that this was a scam, and to delete the associated text. Vantage was quoted as stating "account holders are never solicited by text message." The article also said, "when I called the Northern California number...a recorded voice said that the number has been disconnected by the Federal Trade Commissions 'because it may be involved in a scam.'"

The above was actually a text message to my BlackBerry.
I just now got the same text message to my regular cell phone, same caller ID, except that the phone number was given as 925-415-5334. (Will cross-post under that number.

I got the exact same message as trainer33 above, same caller ID number -- and I'm not a member of the Vantage Credit Union. I'm quite confident it's a scam.

Me,too. Just tried calling Vantage customer service, NOT the number shown in the text. Busy. I bet they're getting deluged with calls. Smells like a scam. Be careful.

Follow up: I called the number and got a recording from the FTC saying that the number was disconnected because it was involved in a scam.
