I ment to not give something as promised.besides I hung up I don't fall victim to scams.always know the company tht is trying to do anything for you if you don't know the company chances are they won't do anything they tell you they will.like any other scam.

I got a phone call and I suspected a scam its probably just a way to sell your information to third party companeis it happens all the time so they make money without you knowing it that is illegal and a invasion of privacy to not only give something as promised but to distribute information you tell them.they shouldl be sued. This is a crime what they are doing.

I get this same phone message saying "this is your captain speaking" many many times.  I have been put through to a live person. Everytime I ask to please be removed from the callers list...but the person on the other end always hangs up.  My solution????  Get out the hockey air horn and blast it in the phone, smile and go and have a glass of wine.  :) but not before having a good laugh.

Me too! Do you know how to get rid of them? They say they are transferring me to the "remove this number list" and they hang up!

their toll free is 877-223-1931. they call from hundreds of different numbers and its all a scam. call the toll free and give em back a piece of your mind. if its busy its because they are closed or not taking calls on that toll free number right now. i work for AT&T and i know how this all works. they can turn that toll free on and off when they want so if its off u get a busy network signal or a full mailbox. i am posting this on all the threads related to them on this site.

Call them, and yell at a manager.  They will be quick enough to remove your number from their call list.  They don't bother me anymore.

Had this call at least 20 times within the last 6 month now it started on my cell phone as well. I am fed up with them and that why I looked it up what to do.

This is your Captian Speaking. THese calls are getting really annoying. Maybe they should try paying my phone bills since they are calling on all 3 of my cell phones.

The sound of a Fog Horn, and then a male automated voice stating "This is your Captain speaking" and if you complete an automated survey your two tickets to Nassau Bahamas are waiting for you.... etc.

it woke me up, man was i mad!

and yesterday i got a phone call from a company about septic cystem chemicals.  What the hell?  I am on town water!  it said I could leave a message for them to call me with more info, so I told the message I am registered on the do not call registry and for them not to call and left my number and reminded them it is illegal for them to call my number as I am on that registry!

This is your captain speaking... I have had this phone call three times at stupid times of the day.  It blocks yur line for several minutes so other phone calls cannot get thro.  
Drives me nuts..

I live in the UK and i get that stupid fog horn followed by "this is your captain" call.

They call anytime between 9am and 9.30pm often waking my 2 very young children. I'm getting fed up.

Does anyone know a way I can stop them calling? It's becoming more of a regular thing now, will it ever stop?

Live in the UK, have had this call several times over the last month.  When you hang up, the recorded message keeps on (it is still there when you pick up again 30 seconds later).

BT, the ICO, the OFT, Consumer Direct etc. say there is nothing they can do about it!!

Just have to keep ignoring it and hope that one of the kids doesn't 'dial 1 to receive the prize' - who knows how much it could cost me?

OK all you people who are trying to figure out why they do this???
The company that does the survey is being paid by a research company to provide a pole on how people think or shop etc. The marking company charges big firms such as pizza hut, dept stores, car dealers etc for input. They then have an idea how to market their product to make people like us purchess their product.
AS for the free cruise, the port fee is the only thing that is charged as this is a expense that can not be given free as it is paid at time of vacation. A company like property firm or time share buys bulk cruise tickets, of course they buy at times that the ship is not full or on a less popular cruise line for cheap, this is a overhead expense that the occure while trying to make the sale. You never know as you might meet a new friend on the cruise that tells you about a great deal they just got on a property and pass on a tip as a friend "scam" as they ma paid employees of the firm that is selling..
Remember nothing is free, belive nothing you hear and half of what you see.

i just had the call about an hour ago was exactly like above but i did get though to a woman who said id would get a call in the next 72hrs. they said there will be a fee of £59 i dont understand whats the point could they be chargin us for these calls?? :0(

If you have the patients to listen and take the survey, )just to see what kind of scam they are really running... ) once the survey is finished it will ask you to wait so the operateor can take down your name as you would like to have it listed on the tickets (to the Bahamas I think) it actually hangs up and does not transer to anyone.... I really dont know the purpose of the call except for public opinion on some things I guess.

just got the call did the survey, like you i hope this isn't a scam,I am so sick of people not doing what they say they will.

i received a call for a survey, they ask me they ask me 10 questions and they said i won a trip to the bahamas, they told me that i won a cruise with imperial majesty cruise line. i really hope that this is not a scam because i will get to the bottom of this.

Something should be done about these scams. It should be a law against this .
