Government Law you can not balance bill a patient with Medicare or Medicaid...if a Medicaid billed denied its up to the provider to make the corrections not the patient. I heard this company is un investigation for unfair collection practices.  There are laws that have to be followed and if not this company can get into trouble. It bad when the Insurance Companies even complain about this company.  GO Figure hope they get caught and fined and closed down for the way they do business. There are number of people who have been sent to this company and been reported to the credit bureaus and did not even owe the money that is a problem.

I recently received a call to my cell phone from this number as well. An extremely surly female asked for me and I replied "This is she." Immediately, she asked me to very my address and date of birth. When I asked her to tell me the nature of her business, she refused to do so. If I get another call from this number, I WILL report them to the Better Business Bureau!!!

You need to send a registered letter to their address on file with the State of South Carolina (should be able to get that information through the Secretary of State's office) informing them that you do not want to receive ANY calls from them at all, that they are to only contact you via US Mail service.  They have 30 days from the receipt of the letter to comply.  Be prepared, I did this with another collector when I was going through some problems and they called every day twice a day for a number of days after receipt of the letter.  I answered one of the calls and demanded to know why they were harassing me and the person on the other end said "Because I can, deadbeat."  I went to an attorney friend who wrote a "Cease and desist" letter not only to the company, but to the individual calling me as well, letting them know that if they didn't stop the harassment that not only could I sue the debt collector, I could sue the individual.  As he put it, her company isn't going to pay HER legal bills, I can promise you.  After the 30 days, if they call you at any number you can file a complaint which can result in a $10,000 fine per incident.  Later I made arrangements to pay the bill off but demanded that credit NOT go to this individual, when speaking to the manager I told him that truthfully thanks to her actions I had considered not paying the bill at all.

I used to work for this company and can tell you that they are a legitimate business.  However Federal Laws make it hard for a collector to call without disclosing not only private credit information but also protected health information.  This doesn't excuse anyone who calls you from being rude, but it does let you know that they are calling about a legitimate debt. They do have to confirm with whom they are speaking before they engage in the conversation.  I understand how awkward this is, I mean he/she did call you!

At the time I worked there they handled several different clients, from the Baptist Hospital, to Richland Medical.  They also had a lot of accounts for Ambulance companies, X-rays (radiologists) and anesthesiologists.  Additionally, they had some OB/Gyn and women's center clients.  The ambulance and x-ray bills usually come separately and this cause quite a bit of confusion for the patients.

All this being said, as long as the employee is being polite and professional, I would recommend working with them.

Agree with all the previous posters. Individual called. Wouldn't identify himself or the company without me giving him my social or date of birth. I refused to do that but said I would confirm if they already had it. He was extremely rude and said he would call back, "when I would cooperate."

They called and ask for me by my first name, to which I then asked why they are calling. They ignored my question and asked for me again. I then repeated my question of why are you calling. They said it was personal so I hung up. Its just rude to not say who you are calling from!

Thanks for this, I looked up the number so at least I know why they called.

I have an automatic credit card pay for my prescription medications.  RMC is calling me saying I owe for some medication from October 2008.  I called my credit card company and they reported I had a posting to the prescription vendor on the specific date that RMC says I owe.  Curious.  Surprised that the prescription vendor didn't send me a letter telling me I owed them.

I got a call from this number at 9:00am today. When I answered, a recorded voice said "Please hold the line. It is important that we speak with you." I'm sorry. This is a cell phone. I do not "hold" for computers to talk to me. I have Medicare Part A, Part B, and Part D. I have Medicaid secondary. I don't know why they called me, but I'm not wasting my cell phone minutes waiting for someone to talk to me or not, depending on the whims of their computer.

call was from RMC and I was told it was from an outstanding radiology bill. I am aware of a debt, but the amount is wrong. When I asked this extremely rude operator about this, he told me he could access more info if I provided a SS#  (uh---NO) and that I could pay a debt off if I gave him my Visa #.Why did he assume I have a Visa (I haven't in years) and not give me many options  for payment?
Told him he could provide me the info by mail and I would send a money order; he wasn't happy so I hung up...rudeness gets you nowhere!

I got a call from this number, left a message to call them back but didn't leave a reason why or a name they wished to speak to...by a Tina Banks. I called the number back, James pick up the phone and asked what number I was calling from to identify who I was, so I gave him the number and he told me that they didn't call my number obviously I was giving him the wrong number and wanted to know why I was trying to hide my number from him (practically called me a liar). So I told him to dial the number back and I would surely answer the phone, of course he did not. VERY RUDE PERSON!!

wrong...medicaid may have denied the claim for a variety of reasons...don't ignore the call...its just a bill collector...if they say you owe (and the fact of the matter is you do owe) just try to ascertain if medicaid was billed. If it was, why did it not pay? (often this information is to readily available to the collector).

You should follow up and find out why medicaid did not pay your claim, if that is the case. Otherwise you end up with an unpaid collection item on your credit history.

Bottom line...the insurance company/ medicare/ medicaid never "owes" the healthcare provider, it owes an obligation to the person who subcribes. If it fails you, the healthcare provider will, and should, expect you to pay.

of course he would not agree to call you back...you provided him with a number that was not in their database (it's one of the methods that collectors use to locate the people they have called). Why would "James" call you back at a number that he knows he did not call?

By the way, by your own admission, you did lie to the debt collector, don't be pissed off cause he called you on it. That's just being a baby.

During a 'fight' with my insurance company, my husband's medical bill went into collections.  I started receiving phone calls from Sue Glover at RMC.  I asked her to send me something in writting and I would take care of it.  I never received anything from her.  Fast forward a few months.  Sue Glover called me while I was at work.  I told her again what my works hours were and to not call me during that time....I was told that I had the option not to answer my phone.  I asked her again to send me something in writting, in which she refused.  Sue Glover got extremely nasty telling me that NOTHING would be sent to me by mail and that I needed to send it to the address that she gave me by phone.  I told her NO and that I had no clue as to who she was or if she was giving me her home address instead.  I explained that if they refused to send something in writting then I was refussing to give payment.  Today Sue Glover called my office phone.  I let her know AGAIN that she was NOT to call my work.  Sue told me I needed to watch my mouth, so I hung up.  She has got to be the rudest, uglest person walking.  Learn some proper customer service / public relations and you might get better results.

This is a phone number in Columbia S.C.  Apparently a debt collector used by a hospital.  As others noted, the caller ID said 'Receivables Man'.  My brother-in-law is an alcoholic street person with diabetes.  He calls us once or twice a year and the last few times the caller ID said Columbia SC.  When he needs medical care he goes to the emergency room and gives them our phone #.  The hospital bill collectors call and we tell them all this but they turned it over to a bill collector anyway.  If they would take 10 seconds to put our # into a seaerch engine they would find out it's a landline many 100's of miles from SC and probably not the patients correct phone #.
