Ph # 803-947-9193 appears to be a scammer regarding a Craigslist posting

Eric responded to my boyfriend's Craigslist ad for a car. I plugged the guy's number in and found all of you.  Thanks for the heads-up.

These are Eric's exact words:

the moron contacted me about an antique mirror that I listed on Craigslist..Said he was an oceanographer ( I'm almost 60 years old and have been around a bit and have still never met a real oceanographer, let alone one that would live in the heart of South Carolina) and he wanted to buy it for his son. His son sure is a lucky boy based upon the above. Said he would be glad to pay my price, and that I should send him my Paypal address. Wrote him back and told him what a thieving maggot he is and bid him adieu, but not before inquiring about the current weather in Nigeria. What a schmuck..

Same story here. This number is texting saying he's an oceanographer and wants to buy my extraction machine for his son. My first response was that I would only sell it face to face with cash. He is now insisting how safe PayPal is, I decided to google his number and see what came up. Wow, Thank you all for posting and warning others. Has anyone tried contacting PayPal? There has got to be a way for this number to scam us thru PayPal? I will call them today. Thank again, I almost considered.

What a doosey this one is... I do wish something could be done lawfully to catch him.. They know the area code,number,etc. Why can,t they track him down and then prosecute ?

I got same message to by my RV for his son. Thank God I don't use paypal and told him only cash. All same info ie oceanographer and all but never gave a name. Thanks for posting info to help others.

My husband got a text from the same number about a pair of jetskis we have on craigslist. He said he was an oceanographer and wanted the jetski for his son. We knew it was a scam! These people waste so much energy trying to steal from others. Why don't they use that energy and get a freaking job.

Yep the scammers are out. Got one on my ATV the other day from a different number. Today this a*swipe starts texting. Told him to paypal his delivery guy who is picking atv up and his guy could pay me cash. Just sent him a text saying he is very popular on the internet.....THANK GOD for GOOGLE

Same oceanographer wants to buy my craigslist item for his son. Told me PayPal was holding the funds and I needed to western union 800 dollars to an agent so they would release them! This guy is a real winner.

i have a boat on craigslist and same as above hes out at sea and he wants it for his son and someone would pick it up and take it to ATL i offered to deliver it for free and he didnt accept. he said his name is eric. if you would like to use paypal buy your items off ebay.

Yep..This person has called twice IN ONE YR.With two different adds...I have a drywall company and r tryin to sell my 2nd drywall sprayrig..$10,000..Plus I have a everyday driver "Yukon for(4500.00) on craigslist too...I let them know nice try looser..and that I wasnt goin to stand for it.And that I was goin to report him...He claims to be a "Oceanographer..And cant talk on the phone because he is out to sea..And Is lookin to buy it for his son..BLAHBLAH...And wants to use paypal....I even called them back..No responce.BEWARE OF OCEANOGRAPHER PAYPAL SCAM.(1-803-947-9193).I hate scammers!!!!

Same thing with my back hoe, Eric told me 'To be honest' he was an oceanographer. Told him I hope you have calm seas. most liers just before they say I'll be honest or to be honest are about to tell you a real dossy!!

I text him asking him to call me,he text me back he said... due to the nature of my work i would  love to talk to you but phone calls making and visiting of webside are hard from.....and then he ask me for my paypal..
but i know better...it call SCAM !!!!!!!!!!!

Wow. This Eric guy really gets around.  He just sent me a text that he wants to buy my Jet Ski advertised on craigslist.   He is telling me the same scam about using Paypal.

Same here. We have an RV for sale on Craigs List. Claims he's an oceanographer and wants to buy it for his son without even looking at it. Wants our paypal account info to deposit the money. I hope nobody falls for this scam.
