P.S.  "(301) 540-9552 Gaithersbg Md" MAY BE SPOOFED (FAKED ON CALLER ID) NUMBER.  DIAL IT AND GET "DISCONNECTED NUMBER" MESSAGE (BUT THAT COULD BE A RUSE, TOO).

2nd Morning in a row from this #!  At around 7:30AM both times...  Tried calling back and got the same disconnected message as everyone else.

It sounds suspiciously like this scam:

# Free Listing at Yellow Pages:  This scam targets businesses. The caller says that he is from Yellow Pages and is calling to update their records. He proceeds by asking to confirm some basic information such as owner?s name, business phone number, address, and company name. Then they start billing the victim and only then the business owner realizes that it?s not a free listing and it was not Yellow Pages directory that called.

The victims report that when they call to complain, the company plays the recorded conversation with the victim saying 'Yes' except that the caller is reading from a completely different script. The scammers replace one side of the conversation, making it sound as if the business owner agreed to a paid listing and a monthly fee.

Just got off the phone with "Mark" from this number, it's been calling all week.  Trying to sell me "free yellow pages listing" for a made up business name I've used and when I asked to be removed from their call list was told it wasn't possible.  When I asked to speak to a manager I was put on hold and eventually a guy came on and said he couldn't do that.  I said I was on the do not call list and if I asked, was supposed to be removed.  Asked for the business name, address and phone number and was told I couldn't have them. When I said they were acting against regulations they hung up on me.  Both guys had thick Indian accents

Just got a call from them now. Lady with Indian accent "calling to update your information for your free listing in Yellow Pages". I told her that I wasn't interested; she hung up before I finished the sentence.

This started for us (in Georgia) last week.  A first it fooled me because I have friends in South Carolina.  Nobody there, and I won't bother to call back.  Very annoying, though, about 3x per day.  Some sort of autodialer with a spoofed tel #.  Don't answer and whatever you do don't call back (or they will know a human uses your phone # and never stop).

It's odd though: they don't seem to want anything.  Building a data base perhaps?

Sweet!! I finally got somebody on the phone....I recognized the number calling me for the fourth time this morning!! This time I just picked up the phone and sat there in silence. After a moment someone (who hardly spoke english) came on the line saying hello? hello? So I said hello who is this? He said I am calling update your free information claiming to be some sort of online service. I then told him that I was sick of getting phone calls from them to take my number off their calling list and not to call anymore!! He said ok.....we will see. Next time I will be cussing

Received two calls already this week to a land line at a residence from this number 803-982-0464.  Both were morning calls that don't leave a message.  This is same base number as last week but with a different area code (was 724 now 803).  Calling number is not presented correctly, as it includes a plus symbol in front of it when forwarded and displayed, meaning it is a scam.  Obviously someone using a VoIP adapter and making up a number.  Idiot telemarketers!

This is the second morning I have received a call from a South Carolina number 803-982-0464 and they just hang up on me!!! Makes me so mad...so I try to call back time and time again and it says the number has been disconnected....how is a disconnected number calling me? It is soo annoying.

I received a call from this number and my phone indicated they left a message. However, the message was just of someone coughing and belching.

Received a call from this number that ID'd as S Carolina Call. Left no message. (9:25 a.m. Pacific Time)

This is the second time  have received a call from this number, each time was around  8:45am on a Monday, and they hang up when I answer. I try to call back and "your number cannot be completed as dialed"   Also I have received calls from from 724-982-0464 as well with the same outcome.  WTF is going with this, it's rather strange.

Received call from 803-982-0464 - tried to return it - "Your call cannot be completed as dialed.  This happened last week (several times)from 724-982-0464 - same number just different area code and the recording said it had been disconnected.  Calls always come at 5:30 to 6:00 (Pacific Time).  803 is in SC; 724 is in PA.

Caller ID said S. Carolins Call. I didn't answer. They hung up when my machine picked up.
