phone rings one time and nobody there, pia people

Got a call from this number. It's a collection agency given the language of the message. Left a message but the name they were looking for is not me.

Keep getting calls from this number 804-234-9048 from Richmond, Va.  Every time i pick up the phone I greet with our business name and then my name and how may I help you??  CLICK!!  

they keep hanging up on me.

Is there a way to report this company. so they don't call anymore? I have explained to them SEVERAL times that the person they are looking for is not me and they insist in calling again, and again, and again...

It's debt collector.

I have been getting calls from this number too, with the same results as others who have commented here.

A lot of companies use "robot" callers to determine the best time to call. When you answer your phone the time is recorded and they start targeting that time frame to call you again.....and again. That's why the dead air and no messages a lot of times.

Then there's that message as above, "If you are NOT so-and-so hang up. By continuing to listen to this message you are acknowledging that you ARE so-and-so..." They must get pretty near 100% verification because seems most of us let it got to voice mail. Now if my answering machine knows to hang up when the call is for someone other than me I'd be worried. lol

Last but not least, I see a few here that say they're on the do not call list. That list is for unsolicited telemarketers, NOT debt collectors. Collectors can call within the hours set for them by the fair debt collection something or other. But, try to prove they called at a time when they shouldn't have.

Automated call from what appears to be a collection agency. Message asks for someone by name and you are presented with a series of options to choose from. The option to tell them you are NOT the person they are looking for seemed to just make the message repeat instead of disconnecting. If you continue to listen beyond this point you ARE acknowledging you are this other person!

This is so rediculous!!! they are calling to collect a debt from Bally's total B.S (gym). They called 3 times in just 15 minutes, and whenever I answered the phone, nobody answers. Finally they answered and this collector is harrasing me telling me that he knows where i work and that he has all my information. This is totatly harrasing me!!!! I called back to talk to a superviser and told him that i was recording the phone call because they have been harrasing me and he told me that they were going to remove my number. The are the perfect idiots!!

I got a few calls. Told them they had the wrong number. Each time they apologized and said that they would take me off of their list. I just let it ring now... if they want to waste their time, fine by me.

But, today I got two in a row. Very annoying. They can call til the cows come home and they aren't going to find who they are looking for. If they want to ignore me and keep wasting time, I don't care. I just let it go to voicemail.

l got calls everyday l know my credit es almost terfect l donot owe noboby l just ignore them those callers with very low life with low poor jobs.

these people have been calling me for 2 years.  I dont know the person they are looking for, maybe previous owner of my #.  told them to remove me from their list, calls stopped for 1 year, now calling from a different #.  I will speak to a supervisor. wish me luck.

We've been getting calls from 804 234-9048 for months it seems and lately everyday.  I finally called them back to find out why they were calling.  They were looking for someone else, who used to have our phone number.  After my explanation, they removed removed our number from they data base.

This call is not for me.  The are asking for someone that does not live here.

Seems that they (AACC) have another number 804-234-9058.  They leve the same message that concertnancer above gets.  Only they are looking for me under a previous married name from 26 years ago.  I've never skipped out on a debt for 26 years later??  Give us a break!!  804 is in Richmond VA area.  Virginia Statue of Limitations is 7 years.  Ive been gone from that state for 15 years.

This message is for B*** C****.  By continuing to listen, you acknowledge that you are B*** C****.  If you are not B*** C****, please hang up.  If you are, please continue to listen, but not in the presence of others, as it contains personal information.  This is Laura James, a debt collector with Asset Acceptance.  Please contact me about a personal business matter at 1-800-832-8587.  Thank you.

I don't know B*** C****.  (The full name was left on my answering machine.)  I believe it is illegal for collection agencies to disclose or discuss debts with anyone other than the debtor himself.

GOT A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER @ 8:45 am.  No message.  About 15 min. later an unknown number called.

They call me almost every night at dinner time.  I never answer, and they always leave a voicemail with nothing but dead air.  So annoying!

Have called many times with no message left.  This time left a message for someone with my first name but with the last name "Smith".  Coincidence?  Like above, there was a veiled threat of legal action

Asking for someone other than me.  Sounds like a collection agency.  Gives a toll free number to call back.  Veiled threat of legal action.

Beware the lawyers sign on and work for these scum bags Asset Acceptance Capital Corp. d/b/a Asset Acceptance LLC for a cut of the action within each of your states. Also, beware that they revive statutorily defunct accounts to collect on. they are the minions of Satan.

4/23/09  Good old Asset Acceptance and their robo dial are at it again.  This outfit has been calling my land line on and off every since I moved in 2 years ago.  Numbers & info on CID vary.  Nothing for a couple of weeks and then 3 - 4 times a week.  Sometimes they leave the usual recorded message and sometimes they disconnect.  I never answer out of state numbers or something I am not sure.  The person they are asking for is my adult son.  Since they have never sent him and certified, legit mail he has no idea what this is about.  Nothing shows on his credit report.

Good luck to everyone trying to get them to knock it off.  We are still trying.

Received call and hang-up 4:44pm. it's a scam company looking to get personal information. Report to FTC.
