Just received 2 calls from this number, and wasn't able to get to them... called them back (saw on caller id that it was CtoC) and a lady answered and i asked her "i got a couple calls from this number" and she said "sir, i'm just the operator, it was probably a sales call" and then went silent for a couple sec... so i said "ok thank you!" and then hung up. lol

If it's a known company trying to not only sell their products but also help businesses, they should at least be professional! A representative called without giving his name OR the name of the company he works for! He just immediately went in asking who takes care of the office supplies and when I replied my boss was unavailable at the moment but I could definitely help him, the representative refused and only wanted to speak with my boss. I reassured him saying I put in orders for our office, but it's my boss that makes the list and executive decision of what to order and he immediately snapped at me and said, "Well, why didn't you say so?" and continued with his pitch. I immediately grew disgusted at him for being so unprofessional and he even threw the line "Help a brother out" just so he could get the sale. After telling him multiple times that I was not interested, HE was the one getting impatient so I told him bluntly he needs to be more professional going forward and then he hung up the phone. What a great point that was made! Coast to Coast sure does know how to pick their representatives!

They call twice a week, minimum. I've never picked up the phone for them, and they've never left a message.

Because I'm the IT admin - calls coming from this DID now route to a ring group which plays Weird Al's song "Phony Calls" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwHYenKngQs

After the song finishes, it hangs up on them.

Same here - I offered a mailing address for him to send information - he then offered M&M's to me - said he liked to get business the old fashioned way - I said "mail" is old fashioned" he was very persistent- I offered fax # or mailing address and he eventually HUNG up on me after not getting a PERSONS name ~ I would never do business with them with this type of attitude

I used to work for Coast to Coast and they really are a great company, been in business since 1985 and they have a huge customer database so they are really not scamming anyone. I see your point though Larry, that some of their salespeople (literally a handful) really can ruin it for the good guys, and that had alot to do with why I moved on to a less high-pressure and more solution-oriented opportunity.

I got really tired of people like you treating people like me (a well-educated newbie to sales) like the scum of the earth, just because I called and they answered.  It would make my skin crawl how disgustingly rude some people in this country can really be, just because they had to answer the telephone, when I was the kind of person who would spend an hour or 2 researching a solution for someone (either current customer or a prospect, like you) that I would make absolutely NO $ on, but just to help them out with a problem that no one at Staples would have done for them (of course, in the hopes to earn their business but primarily out of the goodness of my heart).

They definitely should get an A+ for follow-up.  It is a great company to learn the ropes of the sales process and how to build relationships with prospects and your customer database (which most of them build from the ground up so please try to understand that when they call you- more than likely they are just another hardworking American man/woman trying to put food on the table). During my time there it was referred to by my family as "sales school" - because I was pretty much a starving student but so addicted to trying to win people over in the world and give people great discounts and savings (and you ARE right about DO THE RESEARCH! If you DON'T feel they are offering the best savings or it's not enough savings for your company then just tell them that!)

Obviously, like with any bunch of apples, there will be the rotten ones (which a couple of you on here have complained about), and I say they must not be doing that bad as a whole if only a couple of complaints are on here!  Check out Coast to Coast Computer Products on the Better Business Bureau website and you will see, they ARE legit and they DO have great reviews with an A+.

I have pursued someone for like 8 months before finally getting their order.  You can't hold that against them as SALESPEOPLE and honestly, unless they make it through to the decision-maker (not the gatekeeper/secretary), and they hear it from the decision-makers mouth that it's never going to happen- a persistent salesperson will never stop calling you, might as well make a joke of it!  Also, you can't be protected by a DNC list if you are a business phone #.  As long as cold-calling exists, Coast to Coast will be calling you, and unless you have received a quote from them at any point in the past, you won't be in their database so they won't keep notes on you company-wide so please don't take it out on the new guy beginning his career in sales who calls you and unbeknownst to him, you cussed out another guy a year ago... How is he supposed to know?!

Just remember, we are all human and we all have families and feelings and it's OK to be nice to people!  Plus, you will feel alot better in the end.  Now if they persist and you really lose your cool, they asked for it, but please try to be nice to strangers who are really trying to save you $ and make an honest living, even if you're not interested, because if you freak out you will just make them want to earn your business that much more! (Seriously, anytime a gatekeeper (aka secretary) was degrading and rude, I did as much research as possible to find my way around them to the decision-maker (you would be amazed at the info you can find online), and 9/10 times would wind up speaking with them later on down the road and I'd say half the time, earned their business!!! So being mean and rude only causes them to work harder.

One last thing, BACKLASH - don't take for granted the fact that some of these people could be local to YOUR business and YOU might be the one losing a customer if you're rude.  Many companies around my house lost my business because they were extremely rude to me, because you remember those things and their nasty attitudes (like, for instance, the VET, a travel agency, and a salon down the street).  Life is too short to waste your energy and effort being mean to anyone who isn't mean to you first!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

This is the famous 'toner' scam...or, in this case, ink scam.

Continuous, harassing telephone calls.  The first call is to get the name of the purchasing agent.  Then a second call directly the purchasing agent, acting as if they were the 'regular' supplier: "Hello, this is your toner and ink supplier.  Our records indicate that you are about due for a re-order.  We have a special this week if you order within three days."  The idea is to con you into ordering from them.

Fact: They DO provide the exact product you want, no problem here.  Fact:  They DO ship promptly, no problem here.  Fact:  They overcharge for the product.  Just a little shopping around will get you the precise same product at up to 30 percent of what this outfit will charge you.

The scam?  Making you believe that they are your regular supplier; presenting you with an urgent reason to order now; outrageously high prices; continued harassment and unending sales pressure until you buy.

The solution?  Shop around, stick with the supplies you know and trust; make sure that the prices you are paying are competitive.

Comments here on this site explaining how great they are?  Obviously they read this site also!

They are like maggets...dont know how to take no for an answer. Believe me I tried being nice and I've tried their toners and they suck!!!  I got a bag of peanut M&M's which was the only positive out of the entire 8 month experience.  I've even tried opting out of their emails and they still are bothering me.  I just got another call.  Let it go to voicemail. They do get an "A" for effort!

This is the number of a legit company supplying computer and printer products to the US and Canada since 1985... See for yourself: http://www.coastcoast.com/

If they didn't call you, you'd never know how much $ could be saved on crazy expensive printer cartridges, and the major suppliers could then charge you even MORE due to lack of competition in the market... so why WOULDN"T you take 2 minutes of your day to hear them out if it saves your company hundreds?!? If you don't care about your company's bank account, just give the phone to someone who does!

The guy can't take no for an answer.  I told him we were a paperless office and only printed 3 or 4 pages per week and he accused me of being a liar.  Everything is done via email and we invoice and send reports via PDF files, sometimes I go a week without printing a single page.

Wanted to talk with or have the name of the person who orders our printing supplies. I told him we buy all ours locally from the same vendor we've been using for the past twenty years and that we weren't going to change and that it was against company policy to give out our buyer's names. Was real polite and said thanks and we ended the call.  !!!He just called back asked for our purchasing manager by name.  I told him he didn't buy office supplies and he said he wanted his voice mail and I told him i wasn't going to put him through and he said he would keep calling back and I told him I still wasn't going to put him through.
