Got the same call here. Same number. They were actually on the Verizon Wireless website and used the password reset option to text a new password to my phone. Only, the caller said she was just sending a text to "verfiy my service" and that she needed me to give her the "verification number" in the text. That "verification number" was the temporary password, which the text obviously states, so of course I didn't give her that number (but I did reset my password after she hung up). She also tried getting me to "verify" my security question and billing zip code. I called it back afterwards and it said it was a Magic Jack customer. Surprise surprise.
I just got a call from this number and googled it to see what came up. Both cases above me are exactly what happened to me. Woman who didn't speak very good english was telling me that verizon has been working on its systems and enhancing its 4g network so that everything including calls, email and internet should be faster and working better and asked if I have been having any problems with my phone and or service. At first I figured it may be legit and they are just wanting to follow up on any bugs that there might be, however having never addressed me by name and then moving forward to want to verify my account information I became suspicious of the call. I started googling the number as soon as she asked my name and I told her as a customer service representative she should already know that information and she said yes but we need to verify your account information and I asked why and she said so that your phone will work properly, at this point I am reading the cases above me confirming my suspicions of a potential scam...so I told her that a real representative wouldn't need to verify anything since we weren't changing anything to the account and she went on to say yes we are changing the efficiency of your service so I let her know that those kinds of issues are handled in the background and the people who do that do it daily and do not bother us for account information. I continued forward to wish her luck in scamming someone else and that I would be reporting her.
Caller stated she was calling on behalf of Verizon. Wanted information about my account, including passcodes. Told her I wouldn't give her that information. Notify Verizon.
Woman call and said Verizon has done systems update. She started asking me to verify my information. When she asked me to validate a password I hung up and notified Verizon. Anyone getting these call's please notify Verizon. Thanks
