Hey this company keeps calling me and i thought i was getting a call from Hawaii as it's called the "808 state" because of the dialling code in Hawaii.

But no, this number is a credit card company that was called Providian, then changed the name to 'Monument'. The company was recently bought over by R. Raphael & Sons PLC, they still trade as Monument credit card though.

They keep calling from Atlanta, Georgia, & they 'phone non stop at any time of day, multiple times. Annoying people, but maybe they enjoy annoying people. Maybe they are paid to annoy people.

(I think) Because it is a computer aided telephone system, they must dial a few numbers at a time, and the 1st ones to answer must get connected or handled by this credit card company worker. Triggered by the voice saying "hallo".

If you don't say anything the line can go dead. If you do speak, you get spoken to by a member of staff from Monument credit card. To be honest i found them a bit abrupt and cheeky. Forceful, and demand to get your bank details to make a payment.

[I am also getting other 'phone calls from my (supposed) bank, but they call repeatedly over and over, the number is on this site so thankfully i was aware that they were a false company.
I was called by this other number, pretending to be my bank, and i gave a false DOB & address, and they said "that is not what we have here." !
So clearly someone inside the bank is caching all the customers details, taking it out of their work on a flash drive, then getting up to no good with it. If they can tell that you are giving them a false DOB or address, or some other details, that is worrying, and they are likely looking for the code on the back of the card, or a password or similar. One guy swore at me, very unlikely to be my bank calling i should think.

In this day and age with fraud/internet/credit & bank details, you'd think that genuine ones would just write a letter by post]

So this + 8082346191 number is Monument credit card. They are calling from Atlanta Georgia. Hey they are a bit cheeky, I spoke to a few of the staff, they are forceful and pushy. The majority are.
Many of them just dial your number and don't bother speaking, just to get through a shift i suppose. They are stupid if they think they are going to endear any business to themselves by being rough.

They are saying that i owe them money, and to go get a bank card to hand, and make a payment to them there and then of a small amount of money. What's to stop them from typing in a larger amount of money.? Talking of money, how can they make any if they spend all day and evening making phone calls.? Anyway this BS should stop, and thanks for this website. If a company has something important to say they will put it in writing.

I wish they would just fade. Irritating people.

Yep, get this call several times a day, everyday.  I've now installed call firewall software on my phone to immediately hand up whenever they call so I never get bothered by them again, but should it really have to come to this?

Yup, this is the Providian credit card company (used to be owned by Barclays Bank, and now owned by 'Rapahel & Sons' and they ARE inconsiderate, rude and arrogant ass-holes...after being harrassed by phone calls from 8am to 9pm, SEVEN days a week, my strategy for all such calls is now:

Me: "Hello"
Providian: "Can I speak to David xxxxx?"
Me: "I'm sorry, you've got the wrong number - I just got connected at my new house and I keep getting calls for this guy every day. Please remove it from your database, otherwise I will file a complaint for harrassment/nuisance calls"
Providian: "Do you know where he moved to?"
Me: "No"
Providian: "OK, thank-you".

Problem solved - no more calls received after this :)

some friends and my self are passing the word. 'Don't sign up to Monument' and we Constantly with-hold our numbers and ring the numbers above between 12:00 14:00 with the hope we can freeze their switch board. happy hunting

Silent call received from them today. If it is Providian/Monument or whatever they call themselves now, they are probably the worst credit card company I have ever had dealings with. David (18/11/08) has the best idea which I will try with every body in future.

Yea they keep phoning me too. I live in Scotland, phoning me from bloody states.

I am aving constant calls also from this no (8082346191)..I ad new contract with tmobile,it suppose b a new number..yet every day 4x day iv ad calls from this number(above) asking for a colin blakey..when iv tell them he doesn't av this numb they are rude and hangup wen I try 2 ask questions..these people need to be stopped,surely this is harrasment..

they keep calling me on a number we have only had 18 months and taken from 1 address to another in that time it is a private line from a family members company and they have called us atleast 6 times a day this did happen in our old house but did stop, now they have started again but this time asking for  a different name!!
