I got a call from 813-217-5283 this morning.  Most the time i do not even answer calls from numbers that i do not know.
I answer the phone and i pretended not to be me.  I told her that i could take a message.  I asked her to tell me what she was calling about and give me a number.  She was so rude and wouldn't even give me a name or who she was
with.  Then i said ok I me and what do you what.  She said well if you would take your calls you could find out what we
want.  I said to her well get on with it i am ready to hear what you have to say.  Then she was just running her mouth about me not taking the call.  I told her that if she called again i would report her.  Oh, also she said that a restraining order has been issue and i will have to be in court.  Really, a restraining order is to keep someone away from you or them.  And really having a credit card debt is not a crime and these people cannot sue you.  All you have to do is claim bankrucy , which I have already done.  Is there not something that we can do about these people?  I don't even know who it is calling.

Contacted the Tampa Municipal Police to see if such a 'report to appear order' and any restraining order was issued against me.  They said they were aware of the United Legal Systems issue and after checking, they could not find any such order filed against me even using the order number they left on my voicemail.  I then contacted the District Attorney's office in my home area to request the same investigation.  They also said that no such order has been filed against me.  They are following up with the Tampa police and the State District Attorney office in Florida.

I've been told to report any further contact attempts and suggested that I change my phone number.

I got a call from this number providing a Civil Investigation order to show for a restraining order (J9OP-2546).  This phone number 813-217-5283 was persistent in trying to reach me (sometimes 5 times per day, which I ignored).  When the calls stopped coming in to my cell phone number, the voice mail left was briefly the order filed against me.

I called them to find out what this was about and was put on hold for an extensive amount of time - so I hung up.

These people called me at work and left the message, my nerves were so torn up that it was making me feel sick. The ladies name was Tina Charles. I have never been in any kind of trouble in my life and now someone is filing a legal complaint against me? I think it is a scam also. These people need to get a life, an honest life.

Just got this call from Katie Winfield.  When I asked her what info they have on me, she said my name, address, and a few numbers.  Then I asked her to spelled her full name for me and give me her contact number, she hung up after spelling her name.

I called the number they gave me and it sounded real until I google it and found that number on here. She's lame.  I asked her if this is scam and she said no. LOL

She tried to be smart and all but not that smart.

I moved out of my Boyfriends place Sunday evening.  I informed him ahead of time, of course he wanted to work things out. I got the majority of my stuff out and only made contact by text that evening.  I asked for him to send my bike, he replied "k". There has not been contact via text, or telephone by either one of us in two days.  Monday my parents out-of-state, received a phone call that I was supposed to call this 813 number regarding a "restraining" order. I was shocked! I called and left a MSG. I haven't received a call back.. Now I'm reading this and it all seems a little bogus. I have no plans of contacting my ex in the future. I'm not the type of person to cause unneccessary hurt or conflict. I guess the timing of this call just made me paranoid, it was probably him trying to scare me.

We recieved similar message today from this number.  Funny thing is that we recently filed Bankruptcy, forwarding on to our Attorny as this is harrassment!  Waiting to see what happens now.

Aaron Jones identified himself as a Special Investigator in this matter.  Geez wonder what the laws are pertaining to this type of call.

I was given the # 813-217-5283. and told that my # was left as a contact # for my X husband.
My"X" was restrained by the courts over 10 years ago. there is no way he could have left me as a contact #.
I was also given an afidavid # to refer to, when I called to discuss this with them.
I Have not been able to reach united legal systems, But apparently, A Third party has access to my phone # and his info.
This Man is very dangerous to me,  I would like to know if he really does have my # or if it's just some kind of scam.

I, also, got a message. My caller ID said it was from a private party. They left a message just like the ones above with a file number and a restraining order. They were from United Legal System, Katie Winfield.
I live in CA. The message was for someone else. Not even us.
I, too, would like to file a claim,

You've come home from work, you're checking your voicemail, and you hear "This message is for _____, my name is special investigator Keith Strong, calling concerning case #(whatever).  This call is in regards to a restraining order against you(really). Blah, blah, blah, waa, waa, waa, and you need to respond or have your attorney call back within 24-48 hours.

I don't know who gave this company their script to use when calling, i'm sorry, harrassing people, but they need to investigate it more. Calling and telling people that there's a restraining order against them.  Last time I checked, restraining orders are generally delivered to you hand to hand by the police, they wanna make sure you know that you've been a pest, and someone is accusing you of being a pest.  Secondly, telling me that I have 24-48 hrs to respond, hence a visit from the police, let them come, maybe they'll have the restrainging order, and maybe your call will then be believable.

If anyone gets a call from Keith Strong, Detective Oaks, Sonny Crockett, Ricardo Tubbs, Thomas Magnum, Jim Rockford, or any other quote unquote "special investigator", it's bogus, and don't alarm yourself, nor provide these people with any credit card or pertinent information.

United Using Brighthouse To Scam

Brighthouse called from 888 289-8988 and left a message on my cellphone & my home phone claiming there is a formal complaint filed against me and they needed my place of employment and address.  They said I could call the person that is filing the complaint at 877 628-7409 and use docket number 141-***. I called the number and they answered United.

I asked the person what is this company and she sort of laughed. I told her about the message and the name she used is not my name. She asked for the docket number, of which I gave it to her, and she asked me for my name. I would not give her my name, so she said "then I can't help you".

The name she used was my former married name from back in the 60's. No clue how she even got that name.

I called the 888 289-8988, by selecting the number and pressed dial, of which, is Brighthouse. Brighthouse tells me my account is up-to-date and verifies my name and claims they never called me.  I told them, well your number is on my caller ID and I selected the number on my phone and pressed redial, and it went to Brighthouse.

I had a 20 minute run-around with Brighthouse with them telling me they didn't call me, and I am telling them but you did, because your number is on my caller ID and when I press the number to call it, it goes right to Brighthouse.

I asked Brighthouse to call the 877- 628-7409 because this is the number they left on my voice mail, but they wouldn't do it.

I asked for a Supervisor and held on another 20 minutes (now 40 minutes), of which, they told me a Supervisor will call me back.  It is now nearly 1/2 hour and still no call from Brighthouse.

Brighthouse finally called and I went through the whole thing again. It is a Brighthouse number (customer service) 888-289-8988, however, they did not leave the message to call 877 628-7409 and gave docket number 141-***.  I asked Brighthouse to call the number, and they did, and the company answered United Legal Systems.  They asked the Brighthouse caller if she was the name on the docket and she said no, but received the message.  United gave her a couple of digits from a phone number of 458, of which, is nowhere near my home phone or cell phone or any phone number I have ever had in my lifetime.

Brighthouse will inform their Security about this scam, as I told them, more than likely more Brighthouse customers are going to be getting this phone call, scary the hell out of their  customers.

I got the same call from "Special Investigator" Sarah Crawford from United Legal Actions who first left a message that was barely intelligible that I had a Court Order to Show and a Restraining Order and I had to call the 813-217-5283 number. When I said no I wouldn't, she said that she would have to send a sheriff out to supoena me. My wife heard the message and got scared so we called the number and got an answering machine and didn't leave a message. This morning I checked out their name on the web and found this site. Thank GOD I did because I was kind of worried at first but thanks to you kind people who posted this information I know for sure that they are scammers. I sent an email complaint to the Attorney General in Florida with the same information I posted here, hopefully they can shut these people down if enough of us email her.

i have these people calling me for a couple of years now and no one ever shows up to arrest you.  First this is not how the legal system works in the United States.   You cannot go to jail for oweing money UNLESS it is already court ordered to pay; like child support.  We do not have debtors prison the U.S.A.!!!!!
It is a total scam.  Most of scams get information form websites via third party.  they sign up to get information from a website claiming they are a legitamte business.  This website doe snot check them out and sells oyur info to them for a price which they gladly pay  Sadly they also get these your numbers form employment websites, which totally sucks!.  Do not fall for them it is a scam.  When they call answer the phone posing as your local Sherrif's department.

EXAMPLE  ring, ring ,  Hello, Rock County Sherrif's dept.  How may I help you?     They will just hang up and won't call again for quite some time.

My sister in law recieved a phone call from this number on Sept 25, 2012 and was told by Amy Kindler, a "special investigator" that I needed to call them at this number within 24 hours or I would be arrested. Fortunately, I looked up on line and found out this was a scam. Can't someone arrest these people?

Some lady called my phone saying they are an investigator and there is a restraining order against me and am being sued for a car I suppose had rent on May 7 by National Sales.  Never heard of this place nor have I ever rented a car before.  He was very rude and ignorant.  Every time I called he was the only one picking up the phone and you would hear sirens in the background.  Told me I will receive something to go to court. These people needs to be stop it should not be a reason for them to be doing this for so long.  I have filed an complaint against them this morning for harassment.

So I get a message similar to all described here. I am a NYS Emergency Medical Technician and State PD Arson Investigator. As such I traced the call via my Department of Emergency Services linkup. You are all correct in your assumptions that this is an illegitimate scam. The number for their company which is supposedly located in "Tampa, FL" is really a shell company number being operated out of a foreign code located somewhere outside London in the UK. I have my computer back tracing this companies exact location. I have filed on all our behalf a case with Interpol. Since this is an international matter they must address the infractions abroad and decide if the laws broken warrant extradition. Since it seems this has been going on with a great many of you, Tampa Municipal Police Department has been notified and will cooperate with Interpol to Apprehend anyone entering or exiting their registered address until such time as judgement is made on the companies actions on US soil. Hopefully this will not take more than 2 months to complete. I can just say this company messed with the wrong person here and I am using the full power of the law to get them back.

On 9/19/12 I received two calls in a row from an unknown number.  One message was left.  It was from a woman who stated her name was "Special Investigator Tina Charles" and said I was being sued and should contact my attorney.  She left a phone number (813-217-5283)  and an Affidavit number. She said something about "order to show cause of restraining" or something like that. I immediately was in a panic, of course.  I called back and spoke to a man who said that Bally Fitness Center was suing me for unpaid debt from 2008.  He said I was also being sued for fraud and malicious intent.  I explained to him that not only had I never joined Bally's, but that I never even set foot IN a Bally's!  He was very rude and condescending and stated that "actually I had" and that I will have to answer to a judge for what I had done.  I reiterated that I had never joined Bally's and asked if this could be a mix up.  He said "no".  I asked if there was any proof and if he had something I signed.  He said of course his "client" had it and stated I would receive the paperwork in the mail and will then have to answer in court. Although after my conversation I felt much relief since I knew I never actually incurred this debt, there is absolutely no need to call people and leave messages that they're being sued and allege false charges against people.  Saying you are a "special investigator from United Legal Systems" sounds VERY official and is enough to frighten anyone and cause immediate panic and concern.  The reps are not helpful and do not offer any information, just judgment and a sense of "you know what you did" (even though you really didn't do it!).  Luckily I came across this site and found that I'm not alone.  I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.  United Legal Systems has an 'F' rating with them and they also have a flag about the company, which states, "BBB has received a pattern of complaints from consumers regarding threatening phone calls demanding payment for debts that the consumer does not owe. The consumer also claims that phone calls are being made to their workplace. We have not received any response to the complaints. The address we have for them is invalid."

Was so glad to see all the smart people on this blog who didn't fall for this scam, thank God.  Life is hard enough these days without threatening phone calls and people trying to steal our money this way.  We've been getting these exact calls, they must all be reading the same script, and if we're not home, they leave the message on our machine and fill it up with this trash.  I'm a retired Paralegal, who worked for 25 years in a law office, and this kind of legal mumbo-jumbo doesn't scare me, but it sure makes me mad.  Nothing they say even makes sense, such as a restraining order and/or an Order to Show Cause.  Our particular "special agent" is called Melissa Downing, she says.  I've got a list of all the local, state and federal agencies to report this to, and am making the calls today.  Enough is enough.  Best of luck to anybody else who has this goon squad pestering them.  And please don't believe that any sheriff or policeman is coming to your door to arrest you, no matter how scary these people make it sound.  Not going to happen.
