I got 3 calls from them yesterday and they stated I committed fraud against an internet payday loan company.  I called them back at 813-283-0611 and they said they were going to file an affidavit in my local county court in "Nort Caroleena."  I almost fell out of my chair when he pronounced it like that.  I have been calling them back from a blocked number today just to annoy them.  They are scum who need to be annoyed just as much as they have annoyed us.  I also reported them to the FTC and the NC Attorney General.  I know that the West Virginia Attorney General had opened a case against them but I haven't heard about any results.  IF THEY CALL YOU, DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION.  HANG UP AND CALL THE FTC AND YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL.

This is hardly a company, this is a Scam. Every call is different but the same. The name of the company changes and the names of the employees change; but the same scare tactics remain. They state that there are companies that are going to sue you and put you in jail. Then they try and squeeze you for information and get your banking information and take your money. I have done a little research and it seems that the group was operating out of California, but now they are in Tampa, Florida area. They have several cell phones with all different area codes and numbers. Every time you call one of them it is the same guy it seems. If you catch them unaware them you will get a woman who's name also changes frequently. Here are a list of "employees" and phone numbers that these scamers are using:

Alex Barker
Sarah Jones
Nash Brown
Mike Wilson - "Attorney"
May Johnson
Miguel Zerra
John Johnson
Curtis Jackson
Arnold Watson- "Attorney"
John Smith
Frank Jackson
Joseph Williams
"Nancy"
Jonathan Smith
Michael Stevens

Of course these aren't the only names they are using, and they can make up new ones very easy. Here Are their Phone Numbers.
813-489-2927
813-283-0610
813-283-0611
315-770-0405
772-228-4008
813-388-4935
813-283-0641
954-639-9313
not working any more:
496-656-7520
916-233-0467
991-279-9100

These numbers can be searched throughout the internet and it's all bad news. whocallsme.com is a good one, but there is many. I have tried to obtain a mailing address and they will not give. They are violating many rights of many people: old and young, rich and poor; but mostly the poor. I have been calling these numbers using *67 to protect myself and I have found it very enjoyable! If these guys have harassed you then try calling them (protecting your number), and if it is a girl ask for a guy and if it is a guy then ask for a girl. Try and get a mailing address - that's the golden ticket. Never give your real name or information, these guys are somewhat serious. Please help stop these guys.

Saying I owe money to a payday loan company in the amount of 400.00, but the lawsuit is seeking 8000.00. The company's name is American Payday loan. He said I would be arrested and good luck getting out.

these guys are at it again, only the guy's name is Chris Stewart and he's calling from a New York state area code. The # he gives is different from the one on my caller ID ,area code 917, also a NY state  area code.
They claim I am in default on a title loan- HUGE LIE- and had my home address and the last 4 digits of my ssn. The best thing you can do is call the state authorities in the area they are apparently calling from and if they do not want to file a complaint against these guys, force them to file a "incident report" that way its documented and when theyre caught, it will go against thier case. If we all pull together and start filing complaints and reports  we will get them.

Consumer Alert: Attorney General warns Kansans of debt collection scam

January 29, 2010 -- Attorney General Steve Six is cautioning Kansas consumers about telephone calls from apparent fake debt collectors who are impersonating law enforcement officers in an effort to extort money from consumers.   Consumers are warned to not submit payments to these fraudulent debt collectors.

When calling, the scammers most often state they are attempting to collect a debt related to an internet payday loan obtained by the consumer, but which the consumer never repaid.  Consumers state they have never obtained such a loan or paid off the loan years ago.  The scam artists have most recently identified themselves as ACS, National Affidavit Processing Department and United Financial Crime Division, but may use additional phony names.  It appears the phone numbers used by the scammers are ?spoofed? numbers, so that the number appearing on a consumer?s caller ID is not the actual number of where the call originated. It appears the calls in question may be originating from outside the United States.

When questioned, the individual calling refuses to disclose the full name or address of the collection agency they claim to represent.  These scammers have been able to provide consumers with identifying information, such as the consumer?s social security number, home address, e-mail address, names of family members and the consumer?s computer IP address.  Since the callers are able to provide valid personal information, consumers may become confused and believe they are being contacted in regard to a legitimate debt.

If the initial debt collection scam is unsuccessful, consumers have been re-contacted months later with the scammers posing as law enforcement officers or officers of the court.  Typically, the consumer is threatened with arrest for fraud or some other fictitious crime unless the consumer agrees to immediately wire money via Western Union.  The fictitious officers strive to frighten and confuse consumers into compliance by using legal sounding terms such as ?We?re filing an affidavit against you? or by stating a lawsuit has been or is in the process of being filed against the consumer.

A hallmark of each scam has been calling consumers repeatedly at their place of employment.  This scam hit home when an employee of the Kansas Attorney General?s Office was repeatedly called both on her cell phone and at work.  Despite the employee?s repeated verbal disputes, the caller refused to provide any identifying information to allow her to send a written dispute. The scammer also continued to call her numerous times a day regarding a payday loan she denied obtaining. Two months later, she was again contacted by telephone by an individual identifying himself as an ?officer?.

?I denied owing the debt and refused to pay without being provided validation of the debt. I was then told, ?If that?s the case, I will have local law enforcement come to your place of business and drag you out kicking and screaming?,? stated the employee.

?It is important for consumers to know their rights under the law,? Attorney General Six said. ?If a consumer is receiving calls from a debt collection company and believe it is a scam, I encourage them to contact our office immediately.?

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), collectors are required to send consumers a written notice within five days of the initial contact.  The notification should contain  information such as the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed and a statement informing the consumer they have thirty days to contact the debtor in writing to dispute the debt or request validation of the debt. In addition, legitimate debt collectors are prohibited by the FDCPA from making false or misleading representations, such as the consumer has committed a crime, implying nonpayment will result in the consumer?s arrest, or using the threat of violence.

More information is available on the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf.

To register a complaint with the Kansas Attorney General?s Consumer Protection Division, call 1(800) 432-2310 or visit www.ksag.org.

These fools started calling (completely out of the blue) about 2-weeks ago, asking for a name I have never heard of.

I tried to explain they had the wrong number but they kept calling anyway so I finally said I was the guy they were asking for and what do they want?

These freaking foreigners started telling me a bunch of BS about a "sibling" (then a friend in other calls) of mine that was in desperate trouble and that "they" were going to help out.

These fools have goofy foreign accents, can barely speak American English and would never be hired by any type of law firm or even collection agency anywhere in this country.  Even if they were (hired) they certainly wouldn't be the ones making these types of calls.

Since they were calling me from Manhattan (hence the 212 area code), I asked them what street they were on. (they said they couldn't tell me), So I asked them to name 5 major streets in the city (I mean even a tourist could do that), NOPE, couldn't do that either!  WHY? Because these jerks are nowhere near Manhattan, up-state, California or anywhere else in this country.  Don't fall for any of this

Remember, I REALLY AM THE WRONG NUMBER but I played along.  They wanted me to "help" my unidentified friend by sending money. They asked for my credit card information, banking info, social security number, pin numbers, addresses, phone numbers, all kinds of things while all the while trying to appease my sense of loyalty and responsibility for getting my friend (still unidentified) out of trouble (also unidentified).

When I would ask for my "friends" name, the a-hole would always tell me he would have to look it up and get back to me.  The same is true with the type of trouble "he" was in.

I gave them everything they wanted!  Made it all up!  Just to see what would happen, I balked at giving them a made-up pin number so they started "intimidating" me by threatening me with imminent arrest!

Told me, they would file a charges against me for falsifying information, continued with abusive attacks and more threatening "legal action" if I would not start cooperating! Oh yeah, and they were sending the police to arrest me if I didn't follow their instructions to the letter!

Told them I was VERY SCARED of all this and that they should send someone to pick up some money immediately to "make this all go away".

I work in an extremely rough area of the Bronx and told them to meet me there -- my friends and I were going to open the most extreme can o' whoop as* that you could ever imagine.

For you foreign f#cks who are reading this entry, google whoop as* and see what would have awaited you!

Sorry to say, no one ever showed.  We had bats, chains and a whole host of other un-pleasantries awaiting our friends arrival.  They would have wished the cops would have shown up if only to scrape the pieces up and get them the hell out of there!

For any potential victims who may be reading this.  DON'T BE AFRAID!

None of their threats or intimidation are real.  They can neither hurt you or have you arrested or sued. They can't do anything to you or your family.  They are silly, barely literate foreign bottom-feeders who would be banned from entering this country if they even tried.  Do not fear them.

If you don't wish to engage them, never return their calls no matter what they say, or at worst, change your phone number.  They will never be able to touch you, I PROMISE.

The phone numbers showing up on your caller id are FAKE, they are not in NY or CA or anywhere else in the U.S.  Don't let them get to you!

Tell them to shut the F up and go away.

The thing that seems to have finally made them go away, is an AIR HORN blast EVERY TIME they have called.  No hello, no what do you want.  JUST AN IMMEDIATE AIR HORN BLAST!!!!

Numbers they have called me on:

212-372-7274
810-675-751* (the last digit seems to be missing for some reason ;-)

Ok, so I get this voicemail message from a guy who is speaking in a thick, broken Indian Accent (Obviously disguising his voice). He claims to be Ronnie Cooper from Affidavit Consolidation Services. A complete transcript of his message follows:

- Note- the # symbol is in place of my name
"This message is for #### ####. this is Ronnie Cooper from ACS. #### The reason of my call to make you aware of a very serious matter. This is to notify you that a serious issue pressed against your name. Very serious allegation on your social security number. While ####, I can't discuss much about this voicemail, please make sure you return this call on my direct desk number. My direct desk number is 347-342-0492. I repeat 347-342-0492. So ####, get back to me on my direct desk number. My message where I told you but uh ##### should you fail to do so, I will contact your employ place and I will inform them that you are ???? with the finance company, so beware and get back to us on my direct desk number Goodbye and have a blessed day."
So I call the number and someone with a fake sounding English accent answers. I ask for Ronnie Cooper and another voice "appears" this time a broken Indian accent and verifies my telephone number. He proceeds to tell me that the following day (which would have been a Saturday) ACS was going to file a lawsuit against me on behalf of their client, an online Payday loan company called Cash Advance USA, for failing to pay on a $350 payday loan that I was supposed to have gotten online back in January. He says that with all the interest charges and late fees, his firm would be seeking over $2000. He reads off a few bits of personal information, my address, date of birth, and phone number and tells me that this is going to go on my credit and will be very difficult to clean up. He offers to settle out of court if I will agree too pay him over the phone.

I tell this person that I never got a payday loan and I would not be paying for a payday loan that I never received. That was when I asked for information about the loan company. He tells me that he is representing Cash Advance USA, an online payday loan company. He gives 516-833-3191 as the number for that company so after telling the guy that I guess we'll have to deal with this in court, he hung up on me.

Then I called Cash Advance USA. The person who answered the phone (no pbx system) once again in a broken, barely recognizable fake Indian accent answers, "Can I help you"? I say, "I'm sorry, is this ACS?" he says "no, this is the finance company", I say "Oh, you mean Cash Advance USA?", "uh yeah, Cash Advance". I give him my first and last name only, and he puts me on hold so he can look up my account. "Uh yes, it seems you have an open account of $350." he says. I tell him that I never opened an account and if any such account has been opened in my name, then my identity has been stolen. He says, "Well, what would you like to do?" I said that I want to follow whatever procedure his company had in place for disputed account resolution and to attempt to find out who did this and make sure that they are punished so they will think twice before they try it with anyone else." He says, "Ok, well you do what you need to do, and we'll do what we need to do" and hung up on me. When I called the "finance company" back, there was no answer. hum..... imagine that!

So, today is the day after. I check my bank account online and low and behold, over $300 worth of check card transactions have been made in Tuscon AZ. I've never been to Tuscon AZ! Now I know that they have my debit card number too, so I called the bank and canceled my card.

After contemplating this situation, I think I know what is going on here. This ring of con-artists operate an online store front that appears to be legitimate and offer great deals on popular items. The unsuspecting victim purchases an item from there web shop and provides the necessary billing information (Name, address, telephone, credit card number, exp date and security code. This information is all they need to spend your money. They can use magnetic strip coders, like the ones hotels use, to imprint the credit card number on any magnetic card. Then they can use your credit/debit card anywhere.

Apparently, they also attempt to use this information to scare their victims into sending them additional money as well. When they call you making threats of lawsuits and credit reports could definitely scare naive or unsaavy victims into sending them money just to prevent the hassle they are threatening. From my inquiries online, I have also discovered that they sometimes attempt to phish for additional information on the phone, like attempting to get someone to "verify" their account by giving their social security.

My final word about ACS is this:
1.This is a scam. You don't have to worry about them suing you or reporting you to the credit agencies.

2.If you have been called by them, then your personal information has already been compromised. They acquired information about you that they can use to attack you by accessing your accounts or, even worse, they could open up new accounts in your name. You may not even notice your identity has been stolen until you are turned down for credit or until REAL debt collectors start hunting you down.

3.Be Warned the calls may be the least of your worries.

My advice:
1.keep a close eye on your credit and debit accounts, especially the ones you use to buy online. If you see any items you don't recognize, call the bank or lender immediately and report this identity theft

2.go to www.transunion.com or any of the other credit agencies' sites and order a credit report. Everyone is entitled to one free report per year. Better yet, for about $25 a month, you can monitor your credit 24/7 at www.TransUnion.com this will let you update your report daily to detect if someone is attempting to open new accounts in your name.

3.Take this as a lesson to only shop online at reputable vendors that you know are legit. Don't be the sucker for the amazing online deal. If it sounds too good to be true, it is!

Today at 0534 am I received a call from 524-973-47 (all that showed up on my phone).  I answered the phone and the person identified themselves as a legal affidavit company and began asking for information.  They had all my personal information.  I angrily told them I knew it was a scam because of the time of the phone call and the foreign accents.  They called my cell again at 0830 and 0834, both calls were ignored.  I received another call on my work cell from 052-497-347 saying they were a consolidation company.  I told them I wasn't interested and hung.  They called me back immediately saying they weren't trying to sell anything.  I told them I knew they were not since they didn't speak english and called from a bogus number.  I have called the Attorney General and FTC to file a complaint.  The scary thing is they have all my personal information...DOB, SS#, DL# etc.

NBC 4 called the number left avoicemail. The man who answered would not take any questions and hung up the phone.

If they call you file a report against the company, called National Affidavit Processing Services, with your  Cities police department and called the Federal Trade Commission, along with three credit bureaus to protect herself.

The Attorney General?s Office says to never give out personal information over the phone.

You can also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in your area if you think you are being scammed.

DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY.  Hang up, report them, don't talk to them. Record them ifyou do talk to them and then turn over the tapes to your local news and radio stations and send your story to the local newspapers, so everyone can become aware of these thieves and liers.

Fake Debt Collectors and Collection Tactics

If consumers did not have enough to worry about having to deal with rising credit card interest rates, late fees and over-limit fees, zombie debt, and fervent bill collectors, now we have to worry about collectors calling about fake debt.

While many legitimate collection agencies follow the FDCPA, there are some collectors out there that are only running a scam operation and will be quick to use threats and scare tactics to get you to pay up quick. Their scams turn up in mailboxes, on the internet and through the telephone every day. Some collectors pose as national banks, government agencies (FBI, CIA), or even popular celebrity stars to gain personal information. These phony collectors may threaten to repossess your house, issue a warrant for your arrest, or even garnish your pay check, all of which are against the FDCPA rules. Some of which are even laughable (for example, there is no debtor?s prison in the United States).

Fake debt scammers rely on the fear and lack of knowledge about debt collection laws within the population. They also figure that a certain percentage of their calls will be received by individuals who may be carrying debt on credit cards anyway and may be susceptible to intimidation. When collectors use misleading statements and fail to provide identification, they are breaking the law. Never pay money to a possible thief. Keep cool when you hear from collectors to avoid this collection abuse.

Many times, people who took out payday loans online in the past are most susceptible. If you took a payday loan, be aware scammers may have access to your Social Security number and other personal information, and keep your guard up against such tactics.

Ironically, real "deadbeats" probably wouldn't fall for these scammers, since they have no intention of repaying their creditors anyway. But upright citizens may doubt themselves, thinking they've forgotten to pay a bill. Many times, the sums involved tend to be fairly small, so some people may be tempted to just pay the "bill" and "get it over with."

Ways to Protect Yourself Against Debt Collection Scams

Review your credit report frequently to find inaccuracies.
Be aware of your current creditors and how much you owe.
Ask creditors for identification before you provide any information over the telephone.
Reporting Fake Debt Collectors

If you ever receive a call from anyone identifying himself as a debt collector, the law requires that the debt collector provide you with identification, and that the debt collector refrain from making misleading and threatening statements.

You can report any problems you have to your state Attorney General?s office www.naag.org and the Federal Trade Commission www.ftc.gov. Many states have their own debt collection laws that are different from the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Your Attorney General?s office can help you determine your rights under your state?s law.

To Allana the post above.  You should be in English class.  Your writing is terrible.

First of all, don't let them scare you.  Close your bank accounts.  Don't ever send them money, no matter what they say...Better yet, don't talk to them.  They are not a collection agency.

Report them to the FBI, FTC, Attorney General, White House, US Secret Service, Local Police, TV Stations, Radio Stations and post their Names and numbers ALL OVER THE INTERNET.

Also, record all conversations.  There will be a report about them on CNN News and Fox News very soon.  The information is being gathered.

Don't be stupid.  No one can have you arrested for not paying a loan, even if you owe.  Be real.  These are scammers from overseas that have stolen or was sold your information by a predatory lender.  They cannot have you fire, all they can do is call you.

All they can do is call you and use scare tactics to try and wear you down so you will send them money.

Do your homework and stop being scared and stupid.  That's what they want you to be, scared and stupid.  If you send them money, they will still call and want more.  Its a bogus company with a scam going on that is becoming more popular by the day.

To the post above, yes you want to close your bank account or just notify  your bank of the scam and they will give you a new account number.  Don't talk to these people but if you must, just tell them you know they are a scam. Be sure to report them.

I have been dealing with this pondscum for over a year.  At first I ignored them, but they kept calling, now I pick up and slam right back at them. Let them know you know they are scammers.

These are thieves, con artist of the lowest kind.  They are not a business or a collection agency.  They are just some scum that have stolen your information and trying to use scare tactics to trick you into forking over your checking account or credit card number so they can wipe you out.  They are terrorist from overseas trying to scare Americans into funding their next attack. Don't fall prey to it.

Dont' send them one red cent.  IF you do, they will come at you again and again. Don't weaken, remember they cannot arrest you or get anything from you, all they can do is sit in their corners making calls hiding behind a telephone, they are cowards, lowlifes and bums trying to make a buck off your ignorance.  Don't fall prey to these thieves.

Ok so we know these people are trying to commit fraud....I've had some harrassing phone calls from 052-497-347, and many other numbers from ACS - Affidavit Consolidation Services. They say I owe them money on a pay day loan and said they are going to show up at my work and have me fired.

Is that true? Can they do that even though I did not do a payday loan with these people?  How can they be stopped?

Retain an attorney familiar with fair debt collection practices and sue the pants off of them for harassment. Also report them to the FTC, file a police report for harassment. Make sure you tell the attorney that the guy gave your social security number to someone else in the office, that is a felony I believe.
